One and Only Star Wars Geekiness Thread
Kahran Ramsus replied to Black Lushus's topic in Television & Film
The Emperor tells him during the hologram scene in "The Empire Strikes Back" (DVD edition). The scene was revised for the DVD release to include the man who plays the Emperor in the prequels and "Return of the Jedi", and includes new dialogue in which the Emperor reveals that Luke is Anakin's son, to which Vader reples "How is this possible"? Vader obviously knows the kid who blew up the Death Star is Skywalker because earlier he in the film he mentions Skywalker by name. He knows by that point. He is lying to the Emperor that he doesn't, because he wants to turn Luke against him and take over the galaxy himself. -

Vitamin X 1. He finds out after he blows up the Death Star. He could sense something was wrong even during the Trench Run in ANH, and we he found out that a kid called Skywalker blew up the Death Star, he came to that conclusion. It is interesting to note that Palpatine doesn't find out until afterwards because Vader didn't really feel like telling him. 2. This is the explanation to why Obi-Wan & Yoda can survive as ghosts. -

Interesting. Most of the people I know were cheering for Vader. -

I kind of wished they just dropped the General Grievous character and just have Dooku do that stuff instead. He was one of the more interesting villains in the series, and he is woefully underused. Other than that, easily the best of the prequels and probably the best since Empire. BTW, I absolutely loved Grand Moff Tarkin being there at the end. EDIT: Whoops! Too tired. Sorry about screwing up the tags. -
Most hard luck player on your favorite team

Sterling Sharpe. One of the best WRs in the league for his short career, he has a career ending neck injury just prior to the Packers rise to stardom in 1995. -
I can't imagine any MLB pitcher beating Jack Chesbro's WS-era record of 41 wins in one season.
-
I think I could do well, but I wouldn't want to go on the show. I'm an Amazing Race man.
-
Eh...I'm not sure they would mesh that well. Now Boston Rob vs. Porn Star Brian, that would be a fight worth watching.
-
Colby was only dominate after the merge. The Tom-led Koror didn't even lose a single IC pre-merge and he won all but two ICs after the merge. So basically he lost two immunity challenges the entire game (not counting the stupid first swim to the shore). Colby lost five. Also, Jerri was running things early on in Ogakor from a strategic point of view, not Colby.
-
Tom dominated this game, both physically and mentally. If he couldn't win the jury vote, then something was seriously wrong. Never has a player on this show controlled the game the way Tom has from beginning to end.
-
Supposedly the first elimination is going to be a big surprise, but the only surprising thing to me would be if Tom teams up with the girls to take out Ian.
-
Davey Boy Smith. He had decent talent, but he was always considered by far to be the weakest of the team. Then DK got hurt, and Davey Boy got all the glory. On the same topic, Rick Steiner. He was always over as a midcarder in the 80s, but then he managed to leech off of his brother for the next 12 years and build a good career for himself.
-
This is Tom or Ian's game to lose. With two ICs to go, you have to think that between them they will win both, and both would beat either of the girls in the vote. Which of the two is a good question.
-
Poor Rob. He was second in Survivor, second in the vote after Survivor (that Rupert won), and second in Amazing Race. The guy just can't close things out. Uchenna & Joyce needed the money more anyways, and they fully deserve. I'm just glad Ron & Kelly didn't win.

Vote Passes recommending Libs resign

Despite the fact that the Liberals have stolen millions of dollars of our money. If you want the country to split up, then vote the Liberals back in. -
That goes for social issues in general. If I'm gay, why should my being able to get married be more important than my getting blown to bits by terrorists. Most people who vote solely based on social issues have no concept of what is really important.

Season 5 is my favourite season too. They started going into the more whacky storylines by this point, but they were still extremely funny. It is odd that this is the first season after the initial staff's contracts ran out. 4, 5 & 6 are the big three as far as I'm concerned.

Absolutely I think he could be a credible WWE Champion. He's extremely popular, especially among the younger audience which the company has lost since 2001. He also pushes more merchandise the practically any other wrestler not named John Cena. He can certainly wrestle. He's also been booked a lot stronger than Jericho or Christian has. Rey has been able to handle his own against guys like Edge, Chris Benoit, Eddy Guerrero & Kurt Angle in the past and has even beaten most of them clean. If Christian fought Angle they probably would have booked him to lose in about 5 minutes. The problem is that although Vince certainly seems to enjoy Mysterio (considering he always compares every other small guy to him) and that they do book him reasonably well. I don't think they would have enough faith in him to put him over for the main belt. He also has the problem in that he is a face stuck on the same show as Cena, who's the biggest thing the company has going right now in terms of fan response, despite what we may think about his workrate. Previously he was stuck behind Eddy Guerrero & Brock Lesnar. I think the best time to put the belt on him was last fall when JBL was stuck in a little bit of a rut during the latter the stages of the Undertaker program that should have ended at Summerslam. But they opted to go with the long JBL run instead, and I can't say I blame them. But I still think he would make a great transitional champion someday for about 5 months or so.

I was thinking something along the same lines, but I don't think it would work that well on RAW. WWE is really missing that 'anything can happen' vibe that it used to have. So what I would do is go ahead with Batista/HHH HIAC, have them fight a big brawl that essentially takes out both guys, then have Edge come out right afterwards and pick off Batista for the title. -
Take a look at a Microraptor and tell me dinosaurs didn't evolve into birds.

I understand the desire for gay marriage, I just don't think that many supporters of it are thinking things through or just aren't patient enough. It would be far easier to get Civil Unions legalized, and then make the jump to complete marriage in a few years when people have gotten used to it than it would be to force the issue right now. Instead of negotiating, they are just demanding marriage, and when you come out and demand everything right away like that there will be a big backlash against it, like you are getting in the US right now. If they compromise now, they are more likely to get what they really want in the long run. Nobody has the patience for anything anymore.

This is the single-biggest sporting achievement on the global level by a Canadian professional athlete ever. Sure some will say Mike Weir, but golf sucks, and hockey is a factor is so few countries that anything we do there isn't very important. MLB achievements are not as great simply because of the awards being given for both leagues. This is great for Canadian basketball.

I am shocked that they are going with Kane/Edge in the finals. The worst possible match in the bunch. At least in the Smackdown tournies they have good finals 90% of the time. Even HBK/Kane wouldn't be that bad, but Edge & Kane have no chemistry in the ring at all. -

Benoit is winning if he can manage to get out there and wrestle. He's so far above Kane in the card at this point, that I have no doubts that he wins that match. The other match is by far the more interesting as they could go either way with it. Honestly, I'm inclined to say HBK will win, because I think the company would have more faith in Shawn/Batista than Edge/Batista. Edge isn't winning the tournament, so he's either losing here or to Benoit next week. Benoit/HBK is the more interesting final, but Benoit/Edge would fit in more from an angle persepective. Like I said, it could go either way.
