    Anyone noticed

Savage jumped over the top rope to continue attack Jake Roberts who he was feuding with at the time. Taker climbed out of the ring to drag Savage back into the ring, I've always read that situation as Taker realising that Savage had just eliminated himself and was going to drag him back into the ring as a cover-up as Savage was scheduled for the final four of the match. Taker was partners with Roberts at the time, so it would make sense that he would try and save Roberts.

The latest twist in the Schiavo case.......

You have a point, but I can't see putting someone to death if you can't prove that she wanted to die in this situation. What if she didn't want to? Then you are committing murder instead of euthanasia. The conduct of the husband definitely has me questioning his motives, and his word is the only evidence we have. If we knew conclusively that she wanted to die, then it would be a different situation entirely, but that isn't the case. We dont know.

If Luke knew who Anikan really was

He could have been lying to psyche-out Luke. Maybe he saw nothing but only pretended to? He tells it to Vader before Luke is even there. Palpatine isn't stupid. If he thought that the Rebel Fleet was any sort of a threat, he wouldn't have been anywhere near the Death Star when they were going to make their attack. Palpatine's big failure has nothing to do with either Luke or Vader. It is his inability to forsee that the Rebels on Endor would get aid from the Ewoks and able to bring the Shield Generator down. He says that the Rebels would fail at bringing down the Shield Generator, and that is why he was confident that the Fleet wouldn't be able to destroy the Death Star. But because of the Ewoks, Solo does manage to destroy the Shield Generator, and he does it before Palpatine's death as well. If you notice, the Original Star Wars trilogy is very much against the idea of Fate. Obi-Wan & Yoda forsee that Vader cannot be saved, yet Luke disagrees and manages to do it. Vader forsees that Luke will join him to take down the Emperor, yet it doesn't happen. The Emperor forsees that the Rebel Alliance will be destroyed at Endor, yet the Empire falls instead. Luke fights his own destiny (as seen in the cave in ESB), and succeeds in changing his fate. The prequels seem to say the opposite, but I'm not discussing them. Vader did absolutely nothing to Yoda. He died of natural causes. He can't sense that Luke is on Endor either, Vader has to tell him. The Emperor is not all-powerful.

If Luke knew who Anikan really was

But Vader doesn't bring them down to one. Vader brings them down to three. And without Luke, that's where it would stay. Luke is the one that can be credited with bringing down the Sith. He didn't say that the future was cloudy. He said that he specifically foresaw the destruction of the Alliance, and that Luke would turn. The Luke question is solved even before his death.

The latest twist in the Schiavo case.......

That's quite an accomplishment for someone who's so far gone that even involuntary relfex actions don't work anymore. Not to mention that to determine that she wants to live, she would have to figure out what's going on anyway. The husband isn't a saint, but the lifers are really blowing this well out of proportion. I guess because they managed to get the story so much attention that it will be somewhat embarassing if they "lose." The burden of proof shouldn't have to be on the life side of the argument. They should have to prove that she wants to die, and they can't because they don't have a living will.

    I'm going to Smackdown.

He doesn't disappear. He just gets injured more often than Ken Griffey Jr.

    Another "build a card" thread

Star ratings are impossible to judge from booking alone, so I don't use those when fantasy booking. MATCH #1: The Blackjacks d. The West Hollywood Blondes by DQ in 6:17 when Billy & Chuck run in and do a massive gay beatdown on the cowboys, forming a new stable. MATCH #2: Undertaker destroys Taz in 5:35 with the Tombstone after no selling all of Taz's offense. The match lasts 5 minutes, but only has about 1 minute of actual action. MATCH #3: The British Bulldogs d. The Steiner Brothers at 17:40 after Scott misses the Frankensteiner and gets caught in a Running Powerslam/Diving Headbutt combo. MATCH #4: Ted Dibiase d. Chris Jericho in 11:19 after Virgil trips Jericho and he gets a fist drop. Jericho steals the money and gives Virgil the $100 in the throat treatment. MATCH #5: Jushin Liger d. Rey Misterio in 10:12 with a Ligerbomb. MATCH #6: Big Show, Kane, Sid Vicious, Vader & Yokozuna d. 5 Doinks in 45 seconds in a special 10-Man Tag Team Match. MATCH #7: Ricky Steamboat d. Chris Benoit in 24:02 after he counters a Dragon Suplex with a victory roll. MATCH #8: The Rock d. Steve Austin in 19:37 after five Rock Bottoms.

    Heels who got heel heat

Kurt Angle is pretty good at it. He gets heel heat as a face too, just because it is so fun to boo him. And he's certainly respected, so it isn't an X-Pac situation.

If Luke knew who Anikan really was

Remember Anakin was the chosen one because according to the prophecy, he would be born without the assist of a father. He did bring balance to the force, they never did say that "balance" would be good thing. I agree that is where Lucas is going, but it is still a flawed argument. Anakin did not bring balance to the force, at least not more than temporarily. The argument that I always hear is that he balances the force by making it so that there are only two Jedi to match the two Sith. But everybody is forgetting one thing, he doesn't kill every Jedi off but two of them. He kills them all but one (Yoda). He kills Obi-Wan personally in Episode IV, thus leaving it unbalanced, 2 Sith vs. 1 Jedi. Luke doesn't become a Jedi until after Yoda is dead.

    Console Sales Numbers..

I didn't say it wasn't a success. I said it will never manage to get close to Sony's machines unless they manage to get a foothold into the Japanese market. And it isn't the sales from the Japanese market that is the big deal, it is that without it they won't get the top Japanese developers and they will have a games shortage for the system. The exact problem the X-Box has right now.

...so, you want him to go to Raw and win the IC? The IC is about as credible as the Women's these days. He must mean either world title.

    Wrestler's Worst Year

Chris Benoit - 2003. He starts the year fighting Kurt Angle in the MOTY, then gets shuffled down to the tag division, and spends most of the spring/summer jobbing to the likes of Sean O'Haire. He spends the fall feuding with A-Train. Only at the very end of the year, do things start to turn around as he begins his march towards the WWE Title (switched to World Title the next year). Aside from Angle, the quality of his matches were suffering too. Eddy Guerrero - 1999. Starts with a near fatal car accident on New Year's. Hurt for months and when he comes back he is stuck in the awful Filthy Animals faction. This is also around the time that his drug habit was really kicking in and he was looking downright awful in the ring most of the time.

    Console Sales Numbers..

I guess he needs gene therapy like in Die Another Day. Japan still controls the video game market, as shown by Sony's success. Microsoft at least has to get up to GameCube levels in Japan, and even that isn't that great.

Yeah, this is the first time in ages that both shows have been this good. I thought both Japan shows were pretty good too, but not as good as they were this week.

anyone been watching the Congressional hearings?

I didn't think he did use steroids (well other than in the 80s). But now I suspect he did thanks to his testimony. That's why it was damaging. People who didn't think he did them now suspect him.

    Ten Commandments before Supreme Court

So what you are saying now is that it is propoganda to entice conversions to Christianity? In other words, it is pretty much the same of putting up a statue of Ronald McDonald to entice people to eat at their restaurants. You call that propaganda. I call that advertising. As far as the Constitution goes, I agree. You are absolutely correct that this monument should not be on government property. My argument is that it is even worse to spend all of this taxpayers money on something so trivial. I know it shouldn't be there (at least as long as they are using it for a symbol of religion and not an example of law), I just don't care, and neither do most people. It isn't an argument worth fighting. If a judge put up a Shinto shrine out in front of the courthouse, I wouldn't be happy about it, but I would still feel the same way.

    The Amazing Race 7

That implies that Rob is only with Amber because of her money. I don't think he's THAT shallow.

If Luke knew who Anikan really was

Lucas got bad performances from Samuel L. Jackson, Natalie Portman (who was almost as bad as Christensen), Liam Neeson & Terence Stamp as well, so I think it is safe to say where the blame goes. I have it.

    Ten Commandments before Supreme Court

What I don't get, is that to athiests, the Bible is merely a work of literature, so what is wrong with putting up a monument with some quotes from it? Would you be upset if a judge had put up a passage from Shakespeare? I can see religious people complaining (Christian or otherwise), but I haven't heard of a single complaint from someone who isn't athiest. And they are the only group that has nothing to complain about.

    Environmentalism

The problem with these large scale global causes is that it overshadows the legitimate problems with the environment. It will result in a large group of people that looks primarly at global warming at the expense of real problems, and another large group of people that won't buy the arguments and thus end up ignoring everything to do with environmental protection ('If they are wrong about A, they must be wrong about B.'). Neither group is of any help, and there seems to be far too few people that actually use common sense. The big problem is that temperature records only go back 100-150 years or so depending on where you live. As far as climate is concerned, that is a very very short time. And since meteorologists use that data to reach their conclusions, and the 19th Century was a particularly cold one which started warming up towards the end, it looks as if the earth has gotten warmer substantially in the past 100 years. However, climatologists, geologists, and even historians would be able to tell you how much warmer it was even in the historical past. The big problem with many environmentalists is that they simply don't look at a big enough scale. They also have a tendency to put the blame on the wrong places, ie. North America. Except for maybe Australia, North Americans have done more to protect their landscapes than any other continent on Earth. Pollution is a problem and I do worry about Bush's environmental policies, but for now we do quite a good job at protecting life. There are problem areas, of course, but we are limiting the damage by things like population growth that we really can't do a whole lot about. Compare that to South America or Southeast Asia, where they don't care about protecting anything. Those are the real places environmentalists should be going after. Yeah. We would basically have to bulldoze over everything and put in concrete. Stuff like that. I don't think that's what anybody wants, and we'd have to make a concious effort to try and destroy ourselves. At least in NA, because we know better.

If Luke knew who Anikan really was

Why not? George Lucas did tell John Williams to treat it as a silent film after all. Besides Ben Burtt says as much in the ROTJ commentary. It clearly was the original intention. It is also stated several times in the early novels, such as the Thrawn Trilogy, but I don't think those count. Lucas is probably going to do that now, but originally Luke was the big hero that brought balance to the galaxy by eliminating the Sith. Look at the whole Dagobah sequence from ROTJ. "You must defeat Vader. Then, only then, a Jedi will you be." Everything that Yoda & Obi-Wan talk about is that Luke must face his destiny by defeating Vader, and if not the Emperor will win. Not once do they ever mention that Luke has to fight Palpatine. Vader's defeat is the key. It is assumed that once that happens, everything would fall into place. And of course, even if none of that Luke/Vader stuff was even in the storyline, Palpatine still would have died when Lando blew up the Death Star.

    Matches that made wrestlers stars

Honky made Warrior at Summerslam 1988. Before then he was doing Weasel Suit matches with Bobby Heenan and feuding with Hercules.

Can Cena's gimmick keep him over?

That's kind of the point of the thread, is whether his gimmick can allow Cena to be a main event wrestler in the long haul. If he can perform in the ring, absolutely.
