lol I like Tech but this is great to see happen to OU fans. Especially watching them overreact already when TTU is down 28-21 in the 3rd quarter at home with a prolific offense.

It's not a very impressive thing to do, no. Virginia is 5-7. Only reason it mattered for VT is because they are going to the ACC title now. Virginia just was playing for bowl eligiblity.

What was the best team ever?

I would rank them 2nd in my BCS of best teams ever for sure.

Am I the only one sick of Texas and Oklahoma? Damn, OU still has 1 (or potentially 2) games left. Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech beating their rivals right now. Good!

What was the best team ever?

How can a team be the greatest of all time if they lost a game, period. That will eliminate a lot of teams right off the bat!

There we go. That's the bowl matchup I want to see.

Finally, some decent 12:00 games. Georgia Tech at Georgia and Virginia at Virginia Tech. Then the big games at 3:30, for me anyways, and then Oklahoma at Oklahoma State at 8. One of the better college football days of the year!

    This week in the NBA

The Cavaliers have already made a finals appearance with him, and they could afford to pay him a huge deal. What's stopping them from doing what the Knicks are doing, if they have to? And the Cavaliers DRAFTED HIM and all. They will do whatever it takes to keep him. He's the most marketable player the franchise has ever had by far. They will spend. We'll see if it is enough.

What was the best team ever?

Seriously. It's okay for the Bears to go 18-1 but not the Patriots to go 18-1 just because of when they miraculously lost? And I hate the Patriots and would put the 85 Bears over them any time, but I don't see a huge difference. The Bears beat a weak sauce in the SB, the Pats were playing a hot team they almost lost to at the end of the season. How about the UCLA basketball team that won a ton of games in a row before losing to ND? 56, I think. I guess it took place over two seasons, so maybe the 1st season's team?

I'd take Cincy at -22. Syracuse got a lucky win over a terrible team and now they're good? They get embarrassed almost every week. Cincy has "nothing" to play for but are still a much better team and they'll go up 28-7 in a hurry, I reckon. I just laughed at this epic fail from Gameday BALL STATE Notable Win: At Indiana Yeah really. Make Ball State's resume look worse than it is, jackasses.

What was the best team ever?

When you're comparing two teams that completely dominated, it comes down to comparing talent in my eyes at that point, and that's why I give Miami the edge. That and the complete raping they gave top 15 teams that year.

This is the funniest post I read lately. You do realize they won't be putting a team in the title game right now, right?

    WWE SmackDown - November 28, 2008

I hope these two say "WE DON'T OWE YOU AN EXPLANATION!" Stone Cold style.

What was the best team ever?

Both teams were fantastic. I gave the edge to Miami because of that dominating back to back performance and the fact they had a crazy amount of talent (they probably set a record for draft picks off that team), but I should have mentioned 2004 USC. I will do more research on NCAA teams, I just picked two I thought of off the top of my head. I know FSU and UF had some badass teams in the 90s too.

What was the best team ever?

72-10 Bulls are the best NBA team of all time, and 2001 Miami is the best college football team ever, so again, voters mindsets and all that.

What was the best team ever?

Interesting. A worst team ever tournament would be fun too. NCAA Football: 1995 Nebraska - Completely steamrolled almost everyone. Best college football offense I've seen. 2001 Miami - This team set records and only got tested twice all year, and one was a 11 point win. They beat #14 FSU 49-27, and on back to back weeks beat #14 Syracuse 59-0 and #12 Washington 65-7. That 124-7 margin of victory over 2 straight top 15 BCS teams remains a record that might last forever. They are the most talented college team I've seen.

What was the best team ever?

Oh. Well.. those 2001 Hurricanes were pretty damn amazing. Most talented and dominant college football team ever vs. most talented and dominant NBA team ever. So, close matchup. Comes down to voters mindset really. You can't tell me a minor league team is superior to a major league team, unless you're a total dipshit. The '96 Bulls could beat a college team at football if they wanted to, I betcha. "Comes down to voters mindset really". Did you miss that part? What's with the name calling? Some people (who are clearly of higher intelligence like yourself) will vote for the latest dominant pro team because they are clearly better than the teams of older days. College teams can never be good because they can't beat pro teams, either. Then there are "dipshits" who vote for who dominated their sport and was the best at the sport they played. I guess they are total idiots because everyone knows professionals are superior and a 12 man basketball team would beat a bunch of skilled college football kids in a football game.

That's fine. My original reply wasn't to you. It's fine to hope he succeeds. I just don't think he will, and if I'm wrong, then I'm wrong. Time will tell.

You have to start somewhere. You act like teams are only allowed to hire head coaching retreads. Kiffin was a hot coach coming out of college to the Raiders, where he wasn't given a chance to succeed. Now Tennessee is giving him that chance, and making sure that he gets the most out of this chance by surrounding him with an all star cast of coaches. And he split the duties at USC with Steve Sarkissan, who still has yet to bring USC to a national title game. So it's possible that since Sarkissan is the preferred OC of Carroll's, he probably listened to Sarkissan more than he did Kiffin. Though I'd say Norm Chow would probably have been a better hire if they were going this route. But it's hard to deny the politics of it (by bringing in Lane, they get a Super Bowl defensive coordinator in Monte as well). I'm saying most people have to start at some lower school, not a team that expects to be in the national title hunt every year. And I'm saying I don't see how this instantly makes Tennessee a potential powerhouse in the making. It's a lot of assumptions right now. He may be fabulous. He may be terrible. We don't know yet.

    The College Football Thread 11/25 - 11/29

You mean when he became OC (not head coach, so I don't know why it was brought up) and they didn't win national titles in 2 years after winning one and sharing another the prior 2 years?

I believe Cincy just won the Big East, or do they still need to beat Syracuse? And the announcer just confirmed it for me. Congrats, Cincy. I'm wondering if Brian Kelly will be staying there now.

Fuck. That's a tremendous hire. Aren't they also bringing in Ed Orgeron to do recruiting? I can see Tennessee being a national powerhouse again in three years. A guy that's never won anywhere and a cheater at recruiting and now they're going to be a powerhouse? It's possible, but I don't see that happening if they hire Kiffin. I could be wrong, though.

They'll take an ACC team over Ball State. The ACC has a lot of good bowl eligible teams.

I've been saying this since 2003, when a 10-2 (or 10-3, I forget) Northern Illinois, who won vs a top 15 Maryland and won AT Alabama, did not even MAKE A BOWL GAME. I was pissed when that happened.
