Lots of great games on tonight and I got stuck with Portland/Miami on TWO channels. Hooray TV contracts.
-
Big East hasn't lost a BCS bowl since 2004.
-
Ivy Leagues can't play for the FCS title, either.
-
But how does Christian coming in and immediately winning a C-level belt help him any good? I don't think he'll ever be a main eventer, but give him a chance on RAW or Smackdown before shipping him off to ECW. It wouldn't hurt.

It's funny that everyone bitched about the old days before the BCS, too.

WWE General Discussion-November 2008
Psycho Penguin replied to ChrisMWaters's topic in The WWE Folder
You kind of do though, since the reason they started not making the shows all about elimination matches is because the novelty wore thin. I think if they gave the gimmick to a lesser PPV, it could work. They seem to be gearing towards "gimmick-filled PPVs" and having an Ultimate Survival kind of PPV wouldn't be a terrible idea, I think. Besides, it's been a lot of years. I think the novelty wearing thin isn't valid any more. -
Probably because 1) some years a non-BCS team is going to not deserve the slot 2) You're going to get a lot of people complaining about the BE and ACC getting slots 3) How do you possibly determine who gets the at-large bid? COMPUTER RANKINGS? Face it, college football can't be like the NFL. There's too many teams and there's no way to fairly have a tie breaker system.

Summerslam should always be in an outdoor venue. It fits with the "summer" theme to be honest. The occasional big-name PPV outdoors is a cool concept as well. WM24 looked amazing. I don't think there should be any "lesser" PPVs outdoors, unless they want to make that the GAB's "gimmick". EDIT - I bet they use Dallas's new stadium eventually.

A playoff system would basically require that every conference had a championship game. Oregon, sitting with two conference losses, would have an outside chance at getting to that game and playing their way into the playoffs. The chances would be slim, but fans of the team could at least hold on to a slight degree of hope. As it was, the Boise State loss ended their season. Without bothering to look at the intricacies of possible tie-breakers in the Big XII, I'd wager a bet that the TTY/Ok. St. game would have still had a ton of importance in a playoff world. Wouldn't the winner of the game be in line to play for the conference title? I don't see how it would be any less crucial with a playoff spot on the line. The Pac 10 would need 2 more teams to get a conference title game under the current rules, and the teams already play round robin anyways. Why does it need a title game? Why couldn't the regular season champ just go since they all played each other? Why can a team go 1-1 against someone, losing 54-10 and winning 13-10, and get in just because they won 13-10 at the end? (All hypothetical, of course) EDIT - In addition, you just gave the exact reason why a playoff system would NOT be a good idea. A team that loses 3 times, including once at home to Boise, would have a chance at playing for the national title in your system. Oregon can still make a BCS game or a nice bowl now. They have stuff to play for.

Did you say "This should be the Monday Night game, then it wouldn't be such a crappy game." then picked Pittsburgh by 17, and the actual MNF game by 6? (Monday Night game should be Ravens/Giants if anything. 6-3 vs 8-1, and neither team can really feel super safe right now believe it or not.)
-
Would Oregon games have any more importance if there was a playoff right now? No. That's what happens when you lose a few times including a blowout loss to USC and a loss at home to little Boise (who probably would have liked a playoff this year) Would TTU/Oklahoma State have meant less? Yes.

WHAT YOU SAY !!! The roster is way too thin and half of the people on that roster aren't even active workers. Plus the other half regularly appear as a part of the other show(s). What's the point of this brand that can't be fulfilled with either of the other two? Why can't they just fix it up then? Why dissolve it when they COULD make it work? They have enough young guys going right now that with a little work, ECW could be fine. Here's a few guys that benefited from ECW existing: CM Punk, Kofi Kingston, John Morrison (remember his press conference on RAW? Yeaaaah. I don't think he would have developed such a strong character being thrown out to the wolves every week on RAW.)

WWE SmackDown - November 14, 2008

I'm just curious, but I did forgot Kane was a face then so you answered my question at least. Shows how memorable the booking can be. (Also, I don't know if they'd do a kayfabe/breaking kayfabe moment like that. I expect them to do a Hardyz thing one day, though. Assuming one or both don't get fired before then.) -

Why would Kane have come out though? Why would Undertaker truly care? And it was the ECW title so I don't know if it would have mattered any. -
I don't think Mark Calloway is an undead zombie who summons lightning bolts and sends people to hell, either.
-
Just a way for Texas fans to feel better. It's only "fair" if TTU doesn't lose (to OU), and then the argument is not valid. The argument is dumb.

WWE SmackDown - November 14, 2008

Maybe so. But I could have still seen it happen, Vince saying "We need SOMETHING to replace that". But that doesn't replace Benoit and Guerrero at all. They could replace it in one sense of the word. Of course the original moment is never going away. That Kane/UT idea sounds ridiculous. Why have those two guys break kayfabe for no reason? -
I'm not huge on geography, but isn't Northern Ireland a separate country from Ireland with totally different traditions and stuff?

THE NEXT KARATE KID and no I don't mean Hilary Swank
Psycho Penguin replied to BUTT's topic in Television & Film
How can you remake this movie with a 10 year old kid to begin with? -
Am I the only one that wonders what the hell Tony Atlas babbles about every time he comes out?
-
I like Swagger's theme song, but I liked his other 2 better. Hopefully they don't change it again.
-
Knowing them, Knox is still on the ECW roster.
-
I didn't even know today was Veteran's Day.
