Surely Eddie's schedule recently affected the match. Since WM XX, he did Tuesday's Smackdown, a UK tour lasting from Wednesday to Saturday and then straight back to Raw on Monday for a match with HHH... no wonder it wasn't as good as could be expected.

A Power Slam magazine I have from 1997 lists the Survivor Series buyrate for 1996 as 0.58... they didn't have a hope in hell of doing a 1.3 in 1996 even with Bret's return...
-
I think you are right, if Tyson had appeared on SNME I'd have thought WWE would have brought it up at some point around WM XIV.
-
Whaaaaa? Hogan vs Warrior with Mike Tyson as ref? Did this actually happen?

At the beginning of Summerslam '92... Vince and the Brain are doing their schtick to introduce the show, suddenly the Brain puts on a crown. Vince does a double take and his face is just priceless. You'd have thought Bobby was flashing the camera or something.

So, for the last six or so months, Randy Orton has been the recepient of the biggest WWE push since Brock Lesnar. Some think he doesn't deserve his push, and is the bane of WWE, and others think he is great. But, like it or not, he has a upper mid card/main event worthy match with Mick Foley at Wrestlemania. Wait a minute. Mick Foley. The guy who retired four years ago... coming back... and his first match back is with Orton. That's HUGE for Orton... but the big test is if he can carry it off. If this main event fails, if Orton continues to get no heat, then he will surely go the way of Test. They expected big things from him, but when he continually failed to get over, he was resigned to the midcard 4 life. Wrestlemania is Orton's test, it will either make or break him. How do you think he will do?
-
They could go with HHH/Benoit after all and then go HBK/Rock/Foley vs Orton, Flair and Batista... or swap HHH and HBK in that scenario... Austin did an interview with the Sun a couple of weeks ago saying he wanted Vince at Mania but now though there wasn't enough time to set up the storyline... I think this is true of something like Rock/HBK as well. Especially since we'll be lucky if Rock makes one Raw appearance before Mania...
-
I'll second that, but I think the idea of Angle/Eddie with Eddie retaining and Angle then snapping is the best so far...
-
Have him face Flair? It wouldn't be too hard to set up. HBK/Flair didn't exactly set the world on fire at Bad Blood. And MSG has seen it before. Bad idea IMO.
-
I'm only saying do Cena/Angle if they're mad enough to run Eddy/Show. What else is there for Angle at Mania? HBK would have been good, but he's in the main event now we think... how about Rock/Angle?
-
I missed Raw, but I'll tape it later and get back to you Anglesault. But it seems to me that Orton has had mild, only mild heel heat in previous segments on Raw. I'm not saying he's HHH 2000 or anything.
-
If they don't want to put Orton in too much spotlight, if they think he's not ready, then putting Rock in the match would be a great way to pop the crowd... the Rock and Sock connection scored the highest rated segment in Raw history... them appearing at Mania XX would be appropriate. But if Orton comes out of it still not really that over (he is over people... but nowhere near the level a main event heel should be) then he might be resigned to the midcard for a while...
-
Aw man, if they do that, just remember that Guerrero/Angle is gonna happen eventually... That still frees up a possible Cena/Angle match... their Bad Blood match was **** and at Mania they could top it... you never know.
-
That would be awesome. I have faith in WWE booking at the moment, so I feel that Eddie will go over Angle relatively cleanly, in one hell of a fucking match (let's face it, probably the only match on the card that has the potential to be *****). Eddie will most likely win the title due to Goldberg, and not due to him being the better man. A clean win over Angle at Mania will at least give him some credibilty as champion... until Lesnar comes calling. Since Eddie's whole GIMMICK is to cheat, then he could in theory have a very long and entertaining title reign... Am I too optimistic?
-
Bret. No doubt. I know Mania should be looking to the future, but Bret Hart at WM XX would be perfect. MSG loves Bret, he won the title there at Mania X... the story's perfect with Benoit if they decide to go that route. Hogan... been there, seen the lame Mr America storyline. I hope he stays away.

I think they know that the storyline of Benoit coming to Raw makes no sense. It looks like the Benoit/Lesnar feud was always just looked upon as a filler feud before Benoit won the Rumble and Lesnar's angle with Goldberg started. That's why they think they have to stick HBK in there, to add some interest. Lets face it, WWE have been pushing the hell out of HHH and Shawn's feud lately. Benoit still won the Royal Rumble, which will be remembered for years. Most people here would be able to name the last 10 years Rumble winners, and now he is part of that elite. And he is still involved in a main event feud for Wrestlemania, something he has never done before. And even though it's not just HHH vs Benoit at WM, I still feel that he will win the belt. If not Mania, then Backlash. And what else were they going to do with HBK?

What I remember most from this Survivor Series is I think one of the women gets busted open, I think that is the first time I have ever seen a woman bleed that wasn't on Casualty. Rock/Rikishi is a fun, short match, Rock totally shows he can carry an opponent in this match. HHH/Austin is a decent enough match, but nothing mindblowing.

I own all the WWE "big five" PPVs, but I've never seen this. Is it on the "Hulk Still Rules" DVD? If not, does anyone know where I can find it?
-
Well what do you know...Coach WASN'T awful on RAW
Caliban replied to Youth N Asia's topic in The WWE Folder
I believe WWE should get rid of Lawler now... Coach makes a far, far better colour commentator than Lawler at this stage of his career. Amazing really, Coach was an awful announcer, but one heel turn later and he's a damn entertaining colour commentator, IMO -
Eh, at least their getting the Lawler egojob out of the way early...
-
The ring collapsing when Lesnar superplexed Show. That was cool.
-
Maybe I've been playing too much HCTP... but I like how most Smackdows stars have two finishers. Angle with the Slam and the Anklelock... Benoit with the Crossface and the Flying Headbutt... and I hope Lesnar uses this new submission more with the F5...

It was a fantastic match... problem is that there's so many great matches from 2000 that it tends to get overlooked. But the match was well paced, told a great story, and I don't think anyone's mentioned it, but that crowd was fucking BOILING hot.

If anyone around here knows a lot about this sort of thing, I want a second opinion of the system I'm thinking of buying... Intel Pentium 4 2.8Ghz 1 GB DDR RAM 120 GB Hard Disk ATI Radeon 9600 128MB Graphics Card Sound Blaster Audigy 2 OEM Sound Card DVD - Rom drive 52 x 24 x 52 CD - Rewriter Windows XP With monitor and everything that comes to £1191.99. I have the option of upgrading the processor to 3Ghz P4 for an extra £130 or upgrading the graphics card to the Radeon 9800 for the same price, would either of these be worth doing? (Both is not on option, one or the other... maybe.) I mean, I want to be able to play Half Life 2, etc, but not fussed about the highest POSSIBLE speed, but it must be fast... Also, does more memory on the Graphics card just let you use higher resolutions, or does it increase performance too? As I could upgrade the Radeon 9600 to 256MB for just £20. Thanks...
