Exactly - if crowd reactions were everything then the Godfather would be headlining Wrestlemania and it would be fine! Edit to add: Jericho was never booked as being one of the very top players, so to bring him back in that position just doesn't sit very easy.

Bit disappointed with this. I've never considered Jericho to have enough credibility to be anything higher than a top-end midcarder, and I can't see that changing. Though that may say more about my general disillusionment about the way things are going. Either way, claiming he's a big enough name to "save" anything bigger than a word processor document is a joke.

Ric Flair beat Randy Savage for the WWF title in 1992 by pinning him in the figure-four.

Add Foley and JBL to that list. Yep, if only for an interview finally having the nerve to ask one of the wrestlers to take off their shirt and Mick's stomach hanging out... -

He’s one of the greatest technical wrestlers alive. Family and friends have always described him as “quiet” and “soft-spoken,” Think they'd remove that. -

But as has been posted more eloquently than I can manage above, it really doesn't matter if steroids have anything to do with it at all. The fact is, the media think it does and that is one of main things keeping this in the media spotlight. The fact is too many wrestlers are dying young, for whatever reason. If media inaccuracy and a misguided witch-hunt is what it takes for something to actually be done about this, for all angles of the industry to be scrutinised, then I'm all for it. I can put up with months of steroid talk by the media if it saves one life of a wrestler down the line, in however many years time. Then, in one way at least, something good can come out of this tragedy. -

Bull in a Chyna shop... Edit: aimed at the Joanie interview, not the post above. -
Just flicked through WMVIII again, and Sid's powerbomb - when he first joined, anyway - looked weak. They were on the "pick up, down to knees, support back all the way, and barely let go" variety. I know he changed to a more powerful looking move later on, but if he uses the first version fans on the 00s won't be too impressed.

Conspiracy theory time... Perhaps all WWE staff are given connections at home with a proxy at headquarters...must be Benoit who did it! -

I know it's not the point of your post, but do you really think there is any chance of that happening? Sadly, as well all know, nothing short of Benoit being resurrected, making world peace, etc, etc, would stop them taking shots at pro-wrestling. -

I didn't know that; thanks. Of course, if Chavo was "S," who is "C"? Switching Chavo from ring name to real name takes care of "S," but I looked over and no one else caught my eye for "C." Edge? Though given the tributes, S for Steve Regal and C for Chavo has to be a good shout. -

A Benoit figure with pictures of the figure with a rope around its neck and then various suicide scenes until it was stretchered off with a blanket over it. -
Agreed...and this is a bit far-fetched but they are going to have to think outside of the box at the moment. Somebody who would be a credible champion, is respected, would want to do the best for the business, competed in the original/real ECW and arguably has one of the cleanest personal lives going - which to be fair is what is needed at the moment. Foley.

We're talking one bottle of wine! If it were a bottle or two of scotch, sure. And if we're saying one bottle of wine had any real effect on him, then that only shows he wasn't a drinker! -

Wasn't there a leak from a "source" that the investigators brought up the idea of a choke/crossface themselves after asking to see some of Benoit's wrestling tapes. And at the conference yesterday they specifically refused to go any futher than just saying both died by asphyxiation. -

This is turning something like William Golding's moral in Lord of the Flies! Are all of manking inherently evil, somewhere under the surface does there have to be that evil, mad seed that when feed in the right way shoots to the surface? Possibly. -

Yeah, it's the same company as Matthews and Holyfield. Also, the DA was saying that the steroids found in the house had a prescription, so they weren't illegal. Not wanting to get into semantics, but he said the steroids found in the house had a presecription. But the receipts may be for steroids not in the house, perhaps already used? Either way I feel uneasy the way this is going, because if every wrestler who took steroids in the last 30 years did anything like this...well... -
