The only reason I get Shinobi and Ninja Gaiden mixed up is because they both have generic Ninjas as the heroes. I didn't play either in depth, was Shinobi the one that had the horseback stages? I do remember Ninja Gaiden being the game having the artificial difficulty of quickly respawing crows in midjump over pits, much like the Madusa heads in CastleVania.

I personally believe Halo would not nearly be as big as it is today if it wasn't in the right place at the right time. For about a year and a half, the first Halo was the only game even worth touching on the X-Box, and because of that, the game is legendary among console players. And even then, the Timesplitters series is way better as far as console shooters go. And there are a lot of people who'd say that Halo 2 was a downgrade from Halo, due to a nerfed multiplayer game. I personally, hate everything Halo, from the mediocre gameplay to the bland art style.

That's one thing I never understood: Ninja Gaiden series + Steep difficulty = CLASSIC! BattleToads + Extreme difficulty = CLASSIC! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles + Steep difficultly, but not as difficult or cheap as the above two = HATERADE!

Just like Raiden and Shao Kahn are brothers and Shinnok is their father? What irks me about the movie is that I no longer can talk about Street Fighter's plot with my friends anymore, because I have one friend who I honestly probably never played a Street Fighter game before, but seen every anime, and keeps bringing up plot points of all the anime like they're canon. If I hear him talk about Akuma and his relationship to Ryu one more time, I'll scream! Also, about Morgan Webb, I've never liked her. She is the second worst part of X-Play, they only salvageable show left on G4, the worst being the failed SNL/Sci-Fi Channel/WWE writers scripting her and Adam's words. Morgan just does her reviews in a bored monotone like she'd rather be anywhere else but reviewing video games. It was much better back when Kate Botello was on the cast. She was cute, and actually seemed like she gives a crap about games.

Was there ever a Tomb Raider game on a non-GameBoy Nintendo console before? Also, I never saw the appeal of the Ninja Gaiden series. I might be getting it confused with Shinobi, though. I get all generic ninja games mixed up.

Some Halo 3 Beta gameplay vids: http://www.xboxyde.com/stream_3807_en.html http://www.xboxyde.com/stream_3811_en.html Not to sound like a troll or anything, but this is quite possibly the least impressive game I've seen yet on the X-Box 360. The graphics and gameplay looks exactly like Halo 2. I hear enough with people calling the Wii the system with rehashes, but Halo 3 looks to be the ultimate rehash.

The list of games and banned characters. Thats why it looks elitist. I look at the list and its the same list of games only hardcore fighting game fans play all over again.
-
Meh. Looks very elitist.

I picked up TimeSplitters 2 today for a few dollars. Great game reminiscent of Goldeneye and the original Perfect Dark. I'd love to see the series move to the Wii with online play. I'm pretty sure than Free Radical can come up with a good control scheme for it.

I'm thinking of picking up a few more VC titles. Out of this list, what platformers would you recommend that I'm considering? Ristar Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle Wonder Boy in Monster World New Adventure Island Dragon's Curse Bravoman Also, for a space shooter, would you recommend Gradius III or R-Type III or something different? And is Beyond Oasis worth it if I enjoy Zelda, Secret of Evermore, and Illusion of Gaia?

Here is the site for a list of everything that has to do with OOT2D. Apparently TRM is working on it again. Perhaps it may actually be released someday. His site is back up, but under construction, so its a sign at least. As for Dampe, ignore everything to do with that kid. He was just a teenager who got in over his head and faked his death knowing that he could tackle a project that big.

Yeah, FF4 with a revamped battle system with the enhanced graphics would be great, so I can finally see what the heck the characters are supposed to look like instead of seeing the tiny sprites or the gaudy Amano artwork. While I like the Amano art, it just doesn't work for making your characters look like marketable characters. I'm mostly excited for the FF4 remake so that in hopes that FF6 gets the same treatment as well. Or perhaps Chrono Trigger, since that game seems to have the most rabid fanboys for a game that doesn't have the name Final Fantasy added onto it. A Final Fantasy 7 remake? Seriously, didn't all the sequels and prequels and parallelquels and the obvious whoring of the franchise prove that Square should leave that game alone for at least a few years? I'm still waiting for a Yuffie/Red XIII side game, as those are the only two characters I even care about in the entire FF7 universe. That, and Jenova, but it seems Squenix is dead set on making it seem that Sephiroth is the main baddy who was in charge all along and wasn't simply doing Jenova's bidding, like it was implied in the original game. I've heard of the Japan only version of Zelda BS, a pseudo remake of The Legend of Zelda with ALTTP graphics, but I've never played it. I hear it wasn't very good, though. A full-blown remake of Zelda 1 with the ALTTP style would rule, especially if they revamped the overworld to include towns, perhaps water down the wizrobes a tiny bit, and fix all the bugs and make the bosses more ferocious, along with an actual plot that helps sort out the confusing timeline issues. I'd buy it in a heartbeat. A Zelda 2 remake should use the Twilight Princess engine and ditch the tacked-on RPG elements, as well as smooth out the Wii controls. EDIT: Oh, about OoT 2d. One guy (Dampe) faked his death and the other one (TRM) has been on 99% done for over a year. So in other words, vaporware.

I hate Squenix nowdays and dislike jRPGs in general, but that FFIV remake looks like something I'd pick up. Especially since I haven't had a chance to check out the GBA port. Seriously though, I'm not even a rabid fanboy or anything like that. I'd be marking over any other announcement of the like. Like say, Super Mario All-Stars, with World and Yoshi's Island with 2 1/2d graphics? I'm there. Zelda I & II done in 3-D? That'll rule. The first 3 Sonic games done in Sonic Rush style? I'm in heaven. Of course, they'd have to add a ton of features other than graphics to make it worthwhile, like MegaMan: Powered Up where Roll, ProtoMan, and even the Robot Masters were playable. Speaking of MegaMan: Powered Up, is that game any good? I don't want to waste money on a PSP just to try it.

I just picked up the Classic Superstars figure of Droz. Since I haven't seen many of his matches before his paralyzing injury, I'd like to ask a few questions about they guy. Did the guy actually show any signs of talent, either in the ring or on the mic? Was he just another generic brawler at the time, or did he actually show some potential? And his gimmick was basically he was an alternative rocker or something of that nature, with Prince Albert as his sidekick/tatoo artist who showed up later, correct? Also, I do vaguely remember his craptastic angle of being the third member of LOD 2000, with Hawk falling off the Titantron.

Mighty Bomb Jack (NES) is also out on VC today. It was just hidden underneath CastleVania. I may just get Ordyne because I hear it's actually pretty good. Of course, I also did the same thing about Splatterhouse and I really want my 600 points back.

I forgot about Populous. Never played the SNES version though, probably why I didn't mention it. I would love it if Peter Molyneux would work on a new Populous instead of hyping Fable 2 to be a bigger flop than the first Fable was. Molyneux should just make God games like Populous and Black & White, leaving the RPG genre for people who are actually good at it.

Well, the trouble I have with most of the choices, those being the Bret Harts, the Rocks, the Randy Savages, and the others are the fact that winning the Intercontinental Championship was far from being the highlight of these men's careers. People remember Bret Hart more for his multiple WWF Title reigns or as a member of the Hart Foundation. The Shawn Michaels that was Intercontinental Champion was at the crossroads of his career. And The Rock and Stone Cold, while great IC champs, the belt just seems to be just another notch in their achievements in the long run. Ultimate Warrior used it only as a stepping stone to the top. Only Randy Savage I could see, because the held the Intercontinental Championship like it was a World Title, despite later becoming a multiple time World Champion himself.

Okay Andrew, I'll give you Bubsy. I only got the third level before I decide the game isn't worth $1.99. The controls were horrid! The music sucked (and I am a person who loves video game music). And the collision detection is spotty at best. Even for a game released in 1992, the game just sucks. I'll take it off the list and chalk it up as a horrible Sonic the Hedgehog clone.
-
I'll tell you this much. I'll go ahead and play a rom of Bubsy, and I'll give a fair review of it. Afterward Pitfall and Judge Dredd. Then I'll comeback to see how the games have aged. MegaMan Soccer is that expensive? If knew that, I woundn't have listed it. I just posted a bunch of games that that I thought the decent-at-best games would be less than $5.00, and the Square RPGs, like Final Fantasy III, Secret of Mana or Chrono Trigger, will burn an enormous hole in your wallet. I'll just say this. WrestleMana: The Arcade Game is bad if you want a wrestling game. WWF Raw is War and WWF Royal Rumble is superior in this aspect. However, it's good if you want an okay fighting game featuring Doink as a playable character. And sorry for bringing up the post counts. I get touchy sometimes, and some people actually do think that having a higher post count matters in an argument. Sorry if I come across as bucky at times.
-
Well, Andrew, using your logic, I can say you're hanging yourself for actually liking WrestleMania: The Arcade Game. The 20,400 difference between our post count doesn't matter really. Just saying, that's all. Seriously. When is somebody not allowed to have an opinion? I respect your opinion on games. The guy asked for a list of games worth getting for the SNES not on VC or will be available sometime soon. I gave a list of of games that I found enjoyable in one way or another. I get attacked for not including Super Metroid, a game CONFIRMED to be coming out for the VC. And you seriously must be confusing Bubsy: Claws Encounter With The Furred Kind with Bubsy 2 or Bubsy 3D. The first one was decent, the other two really sucked. EDIT: Added link to proof that Super Metroid was confirmed.
-
How the hell am I hanging myself with my opinions? Because I thought the first Bubsy was good when it came out? Because I enjoyed Judge Dredd and Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure over ten years ago? Because I didn't like Chrono Trigger or WrestleMania: The Arcade Game? Or because one of my first posts on the board in a while was me saying how much I loved TMNT (NES)? Or are you one of those guys that completely hate Secret of Evermore's existence?
-
There's a lot of games that I would have mentioned, but there is a good chance of them being on VC soon, including Super Metroid, Super Mario Kart, Yoshi's Island, TMNT IV (has a lot better chance than Tournament Fighters), Kirby Superstar, Donkey Kong Country 2 and 3, Super Bomberman series, and many others.

No, he didn't say he hated Friends Codes. He just started ranting about delays and artificial shortages like a madman. He literally went from calm, to berserk, to calm again in a span of five minutes.
