He said games that won't be on the VC anytime soon. I never played the PS version of WrestleMania: The Arcade Game. I remember the SNES Version not being good. I haven't played Pitfall and Judge Dredd in along time, I just remembering them being decent. And the first Bubsy was perfectly playable. It's sequels that suck. And never once did I say that Mega Man Soccer was good. I just said it was worth getting for comedic value.
  2. I was at GameCrazy today looking for some N64 games to pick up, and talked a while with the clerk there. We were talking about the online gaming, having a friendly chat about how we both disliked World of Warcraft, 12-year-olds on X-Box Live, and hoping that Nintendo's online ends up decent. After mentioning Friends Codes, he started flipping out how he hates Nintendo for delaying games since the Nintendo 64, and creating artificial shortages for the Wii, and delaying games for months after they're completed. Me and my friend just looked at each other waving the "WTF" flag. After he calmed down, I bought Star Wars: Episode I Racer for $1.99, and we both agreed that's the only thing good to come out of that movie. That was the most unusual trip to a store I ever taken, I swear that clerk was bipolar.

WTF? This is quite possibly the worst graphics I've seen since the the days of the Saturn. Usually, I don't care about graphics, but WTF? At least put enough effort so the game looks presentable.

I said I just preferred Evermore over Mana. And that's just my personal taste. It seems that Secret of Mana gets a lot of love, while Secret of Evermore gets, well, a lot of either hate or indifference despite it being pretty much the same game with a an Americanized plot. Keep in mind, I grew up with Secret of Evermore, and I've only played Secret of Mana on an emulator.

SNES? IMO, these games are to keep an eye out for and don't have a good chance of appearing on the VC for a while: Aladdin - Decent licensed Disney platformer. Alien 3 - The game is better than the movie. Honestly. Battletoads & Double Dragon - A good beat-em-up in its day. Probably the first major crossover game. Biker Mice From Mars - A surprisingly decent racing game despite the license. Boogerman - A comedic platformer, nothing special otherwise. Bubsy - Another okayish comedic platformer, AVOID the second one. - Correction: AVOID THIS GAME. After giving it a recent playthrough, it's a horrible attempt at cashing in on the success of Sonic the Hedgehog Chrono Trigger - VERY overrated. But still enjoyable if you like RPGs. But don't believe the hype the game gets at all. Clayfighter - A mediocre fighting game, but silly and fun. I never played the sequel though. Demon's Crest - A very underrated platformer that needs to be picked up the minute you find it. Earthworm Jim - A very good comedic platformer. You won't regret it. Earthworm Jim 2 - Not as good as the first one, based more off the cartoon and suffers because of it. Final Fantasy II - AKA Final Fantasy IV. A great RPG, but aged poorly. Laugh at the poor translation "You spoony bard!" Final Fantasy III - AKA Final Fantasy VI. The best RPG I've ever played. Others may disagree, but its worth a pick up if you even if you are just a casual RPG gamer. Harvest Moon - If you played other Harvest Moon games, you know to pick up the one that started them all. Illusion of Gaia - My memory is shoddy on this one. I remember it being a decent Zelda style RPG. Worth a play at least. Judge Dredd - Another movie-based shooter similar to Alien 3, but not as good. Jurassic Park - Didn't age well at all, but the game is decent enough if you can find it for cheap. The first-person levels are horrible though. Ken Griffy Jr. Baseball - The best baseball game I played. The Milwaukee Brewers apparently have B. Banner and P. Parker on their team? WTF? Killer Instinct - A decent 2D fighting game that hasn't aged that well, but its still a classic. Lemmings - A fun puzzle game with lots of personality. The Lion King - Another good Disney platformer. Mega Man Soccer - Pick it up for the "WTF?" factor an not for the gameplay. Hey, you can play as Toad Man. Isn't that reason enough to get it? Mega Man 7, X, X2, and X3 - Like MegaMan? Get these game when MegaMan was in his prime. Mickey Mania - Yet another good Disney platform game. This time, you play as Mickey Mouse. Mortal Kombat II - One of the best ports of the best Mortal Kombat game made to date. A big need in your collection unless you have another copy somewhere. NBA Jam or NBA Jam: Tournament Edition - Fun arcade basketball game. The Tournament Edition had Bill Clinton, Al Gore, and the Beastie Boys as hidden characters. Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure - I remember this being a good platformer. Haven't played it recently, though. Rock n' Roll Racing - Decent racing game with a silly gimmick and a good soundtrack (MIDIs of Paranoid, Highway Star, Peter Gunn Theme, Born to Be Wild, and Bad to the Bone) Saturday Night Slam Masters - An average Capcom made fighting game. It's like Street Fighter in a wrestling ring, and it has Mike Haggar in it. Worth a look if it's cheap. Secret of Evermore - I like this more than Secret of Mana. Then again, my taste in video games are weird. Secret of Mana - Well made action RPG made by Square. I haven't played it often, but it's good. Shadowrun - Interesting action RPG that takes place in the Shadowrun universe. Deserves a look. Very different from the Genesis version. Sim Earth - I found this game fun. You play God, in charge of a planet. Worth a look if you liked Sim City. Spiderman & Venom in Maximum Carnage - Decent beat-em-up featuring Spiderman and Venom as playable characters. Street Racer - A surprisingly fun Mario Kart clone. Super Mario All-Stars - This won't be on the VC for a very long time. Pick it up if you can find it. any Super Star Wars games - Sure, they suck compared to Star Wars games today. But they're average platformers that are at least playable. Super Street Fighter 2 - The best version of Street Fighter 2 on the SNES. Get it if you're tired of waiting for the VC to get the best version of the game on there. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters - A decent Street Fighter clone, featuring the Turtles. Tetris Attack - Worth it if you like Tetris. Uniracers - Unique game. I'm still not sure what the point of the game is though. WWF Royal Rumble WWF Raw is War - The two wrestling game worth getting on the SNES. AVOID WrestleMania: The Arcade Game unless you like collecting WrestleCrap. Zoop - A decent puzzle/shooter game, not for everybody.

    5 Greatest Intercontinental Champions

In no real order: 1. Tito Santana The definite highlight in this man's career. He was one of the top babyfaces in the company, knowing full well he's never going to be as big as Bob Backlund or Hulk Hogan, but still nearing him in popularity. Afterwards, he didn't do a whole lot, but he still brought his A game despite falling far down the card. 2. Razor Ramon The highlight of Scott Hall's career. He had a decent run in the AWA before, and a hell of a run in WCW afterwards, but he was never as big of a star as he was the Intercontinental Champion in the WWF. This man was true main event material that never got a chance to show it, most likely due to his personal demons. 3. Shelton Benjamin A bit recent. Even though his IC run probably isn't his career highlight, as beating Triple H two times in a row probably would be. His popularity after his feud with Evolution showed that this youngster had potential to be a big star on the rise. In fact, he was so popular, that the fans chose him to face Chris Jericho for the Intercontinental Championship at Taboo Tuesday over the entire RAW roster. It's a shame that what happened after his reign, though. 4. Mr. Perfect Another man where the IC Title wasn't probably his career highlight, but its still probably the of the best run of his career. Even as a former AWA World Champion, the Intercontinental Championship still meant a lot for Mr. Perfect. After his injury, though, Hennig was never the same and even had a craptastic run with the West Texas Rednecks. But he still has his run as the IC Champion to prove that the man, at one time, was perfection. 5. The Honky Tonk Man Really, the only real highlight of his career was winning the Intercontinental Championship, and he based the rest of his career off the success of his title reign. The definition of a one trick pony, but it worked in this case. He still holds the record to this day.

Double Dragon Aracde? Sweet. That is one game that the NES version is nearly unplayable. I may have to convince my friend to get that for his 360 then.

So it's like Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 then? Only, you know, without the pallet swapped ninjas?

My friend has Tekken 5 for the PS2, though. So I won't need to play the PS3 version at all.

I forgot about Tournament Fighters. It was a perfectly playable Street Fighter clone, was it not? I remember Rat King was cheap as hell, and it had Wingnut and Chrome Dome were playable characters. Never played the Genesis version though. Was it true that Karai was the last boss in that version? If so, that is the best thing I ever heard.

Tekken 5: DR on PS3 is as much of a killer ap as Resident Evil 4 Wiimake will be on the Wii.

I do tend to have odd taste in video games in general. I like some games that nobody else would enjoy (Fighter's Destiny, anybody?). As for the Turtles games I played, it goes like this for me: TMNT (NES) > TMNT: 3 The Manhattan Project >> TMNT 4: Turtles in Time >>> TMNT 2: The Arcade Game Reasonings? TMNT is unique enough game and is just my personal favorite. TMNT 3 seems to be the longest of the Konami beat-em-ups, and introduced special character-specific attacks. TMNT 4 was too easy. And TMNT 2 just felt too generic for my tastes, but still a great game. Now, as far as the source material goes, all opinion of course, nostalgia aside: Mirage Comics >> Movies 1 & 2 > current running cartoon >>> 1980's cartoon >>>>> Archie Comics >> Movie 3 >>> that live action show with Venus in it However, Usagi Yojimbo > all.

I do give Virtual Fighter it's due props though. Just because I personally cannot get into it, doesn't mean the game is bad. It just isn't a killer ap at all outside the hardcore fighters. An those, sadly, do not exist in large numbers. However, when the VC starts getting some Neo Geo games (I forget that if it has been mentioned in the topic or not), I will be buying a Samurai Showdown game the day it comes out. I don't know why, that's the only fighting series I can get into, asid from Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter, of course.

I thought you said you liked Motor Storm? EDIT: And yes, Bonk's Adventure is better than both Motor Storm and ExciteTruck.
  15. AlexPuma

    Wii

Motor Storm isn't that good, sorry. The only thing it has over Excite Truck is the online multiplayer. The PS3 has zero killer aps right now.

I just find the Angry _ Nerd to be less funny than Tom Green, that's all. I get more of a laugh out of an average episode of "NOW with Bill Moyers" (one of the driest news shows on the planet) than all of Angry _ Nerd's videos combined. I guess don't find dumb nerds randomly swearing all that funny. He'd be so much more watchable when he's not playing a character, because his character makes me want to punch my monitor because he's do damn annoying. EDIT: It doesn't help that he has a large following of sheep that agrees with everything he says. TMNT being a bad game? That's a laugh. Next, he'll probably say the first MegaMan game sucks because that game is unfairly balanced, even worse than than the NES TMNT game.

Pretty good VC week overall. Shame that a friend of mine still has a cart of CastleVania that works, so I can play that whenever I please. Legend of the Mystical Ninja looks neat, but probably a game I wouldn't play too often. And about Shockman? Well, I never liked MegaMan games much, so I'm not sure if I would like a game that I hear is sort of "influenced" by the series.

    PlayStation 3

This is the most offensive marketing ploy I've ever heard of.

I agree with Andrew. Try finding a cheap copy of Harvest Moon 64. I dare you!

It doesn't really matter if it's fake or not, this will come back to bite Sony in the BUTT big time. Like, PETA burns down their headquarters big time. Also, it's just plain wrong and sick, even to just joke about. It's like something Acclaim would do in their dying days.

Since nobody else posted them, the VC Titles for this week are: Gradius III (SNES) Wonder Boy in Monster World (Genesis) Battle Lode Runner (TG16) Nothing too big this week, nothing I'm personally interested in. Perhaps Gradius III if I feel like getting a space shooter.

    My WWE Theme Collection

Okay, updated my list from Jeff Jarrett (Tennesse Swing) to Justin Hawk Bradshaw. If I had more time, I'd do more, but I've got to go to work soon

Wow, that's hilarious. Even though they mention "Music by Crush 40" like it's a bad thing.
