Any word on wether the crowd's warming up to Toland? I saw him against Ace Steel and despite working decently enough he was getting shit on for his look.

Antonio Pena, you may be dead -- but the male stripper gimmick will make sure your vision lives on!

Let me put it to you this way: a year ago at this time, I was a HUGE TNA fan, and was chomping at the bit for Lockdown. This year I work during the show, and I'm not too disappointed. I'd say I went from red-hot excited about TNA to luke warm.

Yeah, I'm wondering, why replay a spot six times that a guy kicked out of? Oh well. The ball kick is sold almost as well as Apache's senton. Speaking of which, anyone on this site that was creaming their shorts over the booking of the paint-by-numbers Cena/Michaels feud should really really REALLY watch this Apache/Faby/Sexy Star/Billy Boy stuff. Now THAT'S a fucking feud. Everything little thing in that feud is done well, right down to Apache throwing Faby off the ropes onto Billy for the pin.

The four corner tag match started out great with Zumbido/Stone, Pegasso/Super Fly, but once it got down to Cuervo and Espiritu vs. The Mexican Powers it became unwatchable. Man oh man are Crazy Boy and Joe Lider fucking sloppy. Everything they do looks like shit. I did however love Crazy Boy sandbagging the powerbomb into the table and getting dropped on his head.

WWE stops Hogan-Lawler from happening
Corkscrew_Senton replied to GreatWhiteNope's topic in General Wrestling
This kinda shit right here is why I hate Vince McMahon...not the WWE TV character, but the businessman. Here's Lawler appearing on an indy show before a crowd of 2,000 people, a fed with no TV contract thus no way a viable threat to WWE. So McMahon shits on it. He can talk all he want on his DVDs about competition being good for business, and while it's true because it forces companies to write better shows, he's too chicken shit to let even tiny indies get the least bit over. -
Why does everything have to be a franchise in the first place? I liked the first Jurassic Park, but the sequels were dog shit. I'm sure the fourth will be no exception. Another good example is Pirates of the Caribbean. Why an EPIC TRILOGY~? The first movie had a completely acceptable ending. I realize these "franchises" are made to sap money out of the gullible moviegoing public, but there are plenty of original ideas that could accomplish that.

Because I'm a nerd and think of such things, I've long thought the Invasion would have been cool had it gone down as such: - The kickoff with the simulcast was perfectly fine, and I'd keep Shane "buying" WCW from under Vince's nose. But to add to the intrigue, I'd have Shane talk crypticly about his "investor." - At WM, WCW immediately has an impact when Champion Booker T slams Vince to help Shane win their street fight. - Not long after, Shane (still making cryptic mentions of his "investor") leads a fullscale invasion during Raw. - Shane's investor buys out disgruntled WWF workers to join WCW, like Big Show (not being shown his respect as the largest man in wrestling), Jericho (cheated out of the title by Austin), Justin Credible (overshadowed by his running mates), etc. and RVD is introduced as a major free agent acquistion. - At the Invasion PPV, the bet is this: if WCW wins the most matches, it takes control of one of Vince's TV shows. If WWF wins, WCW goes away. Obviously WCW wins, and takes control of SmackDown, with a roster featuring: Booker, DDP, Kanyon, Mike Awesome, Lance Storm/Justin Credible (reforming the Impact Players), Palumbo/O'Haire, Jericho, Big Show, Hugh Morrus, Kidman, Mysterio, Chavo, Helms, Knoble, Kronik, Johnny the Bull, Steiner (who in 2001 was still worlds ahead of 2002 Steiner), and a few other WWF jumpers (maybe one of the Hardys, Billy Gunn, Tazz, Val Venis, etc.). - On the first WCW SmackDown, the investor is introduced as Eric Bischoff. - I'd keep Heyman with WWF until around Survivor Series, where he then introduces his ECW faction. Here he reinstates the belts, with Rhino as TV and World champion, the Dudleyz named tag champions, and there you have the extra intrigue of which former ECW wrestlers will join Heyman. That's a sub-storyline that you can get plenty of mileage out of alone. - The Royal Rumble is a WWF-only match...and instead of No. 1 contendership, it's for the vacant WWF title. See, in my vision in these months leading up, Angle and Austin have been feuding over 1. the belt and 2. leadership of WWF. Because of the in-fighting, they can't focus on WCW. They cost each other matches, leading to Vince holding the title up. Rather than HHH winning the Rumble, I have The Rock win the vacant title. - Wrestlemania is a three-way title match between champions, to crown the first Unified World Champion. Let's say Rhino's injury is inevitable...in that case I'd go with a main event of: ECW Champ RVD vs. WWF Champ The Rock vs. WCW Champ Booker T Then on the undercard you've got: Ric Flair vs. HHH Jericho vs. Undertaker Kane vs. Big Show A non-crossover match, instead a feud-ender in Angle vs. Austin Wrestlemania is the first time in the feud WWF dominates at all. This plants the seeds for WWF eventually winning this, especially after The Rock unifies the titles. In case you can't tell, I've thought about how the Invasion could have worked pretty much since it first began with such a thud.

So after the no-update Monday, the site was changed to say "Don't Believe a Thing Until You Read It Here 04/11/07." Well, it's 11:44 EDT and nothing to read beyond that. Man, I wonder why XPW ever went out of business?

Tom Delay again, expanding on the quote that started the thread (on his campaign finance violation charges) Not that I didn't know it before, but...what a fucking scumbag.

Or to put down the needle. That image right there might be the most effective potential anti-steroid campaign imaginable, aside from showing someone on his deathbed.

Fair enough. Then I recant.

God, fuck having an opinion, right? Otherwise here comes the IWC Gestapo Hawk_34 to tell you why you're wrong. Notice how I prefaced my stating with "My problem" as opposed to "THE problem"? People can like him and that's fine, I was merely stating why I don't.

I find it funny you call Cena a Rock rip-off, yet the biggest balant rip-off of The Rock (Mr. Kennedy) is the IC's new hero. i HATE kennedy just as much as cena, but i don't watch smackdown, so i don't have to deal with it as much. Yeah, I can't stand Kennedy either. Or JBL on broadcast. And the Umaga character is horrible. And you know something? For being "hated only by smarks," Cena's loved by about 75% of the IWC from what I can gather, and I hate him too. So yeah, I don't really care for any of the WWE's IWC darlings. EDIT: Just for the record, I don't watch Raw with any consistency and haven't since about July, so maybe Cena and Umaga have become totally awesome. Somehow I can't imagine the 1970s racist gimmick and the dorky wannabe have turned a complete corner though. You hate JBL on broadcast? Atleast JBL can play a REAL heel commentator, which is somthing that has been missing in the WWE, since Paul Heyman left the booth. My problem with JBL is he comes across as more interested in keeping himself over than he does putting over the guys actually in the ring. There are a few exceptions, but those are people who don't need it, like Undertaker. Do you even listen to his commentary? He constantly is putting over MVP, Mr. Kennedy, Finlay, King Booker, Gregory Helms, and all of the heels. Hell he even is constantly putting over Matt Hardy. Heh, yes I listen. Sorry my opinion differs from yours, doesn't mean I'm not listening to him. When I listen, I hear stuff like "Gregory Helms is the longest reigning SmackDown champion since ME." "I went toe-to-toe with the Undertaker" etc. Heel commentators like Bobby Heenan would put over the heels without injecting themselves into the discussion. Even when he puts over Matt Hardy, he spends all his time talking about how much he hates him -- which makes sense since it goes with the heel persona, but it's still JBL injecting himself into the discussion.

Id totally support that tag team. I was awfully young at the time, so I might not have this correct, but didn't the York Foundation map out matches with a computer in this same fashion?
