I picture Wrestler's Court being someone like this: DRINK UP YOU PLEDGE SCUM!

CRAZY BOY BLEW A SPOT?! I...I...don't...NO...I WON'T...believe it!

That was something from last summer I really wish they had run with. Lethal was really over at that point, and I would have preferred him rather than Sabin chasing Low Ki for the X Title. Then when Jay wins the belt, a jealous Sabin turns heel. Would have made much more sense than Chris' completely arbitrary turn after BFG.

No, I meant the irony that the post I was quoting would call Carlito piss poor in regards to Carlito's quote.
-
The irony considering he threw out names like Ashley and Khali. He can get away with saying this kind of shit since he can just go back to his dad's fed if he gets canned, and be the biggest star there.

Quoted for truth.

That feud deserved to be blown off properly. WM X7 was great, but by not continuining the Hunter-Angle-Steph storyline, I really think the company shot itself in the foot in the long run. Based on my own experiences (which may or may not be indicative of a larger whole), that was by far the best angle for casual viewer interest. I was a senior in high school during that angle, and I knew chicks who weren't ino wrestling who were interested in that angle, and they just dropped it. It was really a sign of things to come, sadly -- huge potential with the ball dropped every year for years.

Ooh, ooh, look inside, it's NOTES! What kind of notes?

Maybe it'll be his letter to the world about steroid usage. That dude's so jacked it wouldn't be surprising if his heart gave out on him sooner than later. It'll be like that methhead who filmed his last year of life. -
Well, that show played out better on TV than it did on paper. The "Dinner with the Devil" thing wasn't the ridiculous pile of crap I thought it would be. In fact, if it wasn't tied to such a bad angle, it would've been really good. The opening match was a sample of what TNA needs more of...good, 10-minute matches. I don't mind them trying to push Tomko, since he's got the look and is working hard to improve in the ring. But man, that was typical Russo to turn/re-turn him on the same show.

PWG's All Star Weekend V set for April 7 & 8, 2007!

Damn, I live in San Diego and would LOVE to go to this show. I'll sadly be in Oregon that weekend Both cards look like sex-in-a-can. -
I have to say this is very, very wrong. Cena was never force fed to the fans. He got put in the main event because he was really damn over. He got a gimmick that clicked and that got him incredibly over. People on this board were saying that he should have been a main eventer around WM20 instead of dicking around with the Big Show. Personally, I think Cena could reach those levels of overness that Austin, Hogan, and Rock were at; he has all the tools to do so. It's just that the way WWE has pushed him has hurt his ability to do that by causing some of the fanbase to resent him. I agree he has the tools, he's been so badly neutered by the booking staff. What got him over was his hip hop edginess. If they let him go back to that persona, instead of the goofy stomp-around-salute/overcome the odds nerd, I could see him elevating into that next level.

The reason it's a knock is because Vince is trying to recapture the late '80s/late '90s (the eras of Hulk/Austin-Rock) on Cena's back. It's a stupid knock. Big deal that Cena isn't a Austin/Rock/Hogan level draw. Almost nobody will get to that level again. Cena is a big enough draw that he makes WWE a ton of money, and makes himself a ton of money. Goodfellas is crap, if only because The Godfather is better. I never understood the idea that some people cling to where the pick the absolute highest mark of all time and then immediately blast anybody/thing who doesn't reach that mark. It is an idiotic line of thinking. I gotta defend myself here. This is ridiculous, when did I "blast" Cena, first of all? All I did was point out that he gets noticeably booed. And if you're going to use the movie analogy, use something that has a sizeable and vocal contention to it. I think a far more even comparison would be comparing Austin to Godfather and Cena to a very popular/profitable but panned...like a Schwrazenegger action flick.

With the existence of a vocal smark community, do you guys think there'll ever be a face who's universally loved? I don't mean on Austin levels, just across the entire existing fanbase?
-
The reason it's a knock is because Vince is trying to recapture the late '80s/late '90s (the eras of Hulk/Austin-Rock) on Cena's back. EDIT: I don't really want to get too far into it because guaging Muggy's overreaction this is a sensitive subject. I wouldn't dispute Cena makes the most money of anyone in the company, but when you've got a major competitor gaining strength (UFC), it seems like you might be concerned when the guy who's supposed to carry the company gets noticably booed like he did last night. The boom period wouldn't have happened if casual viewers tuned in to see this Austin guy they'd heard about and he was getting booed. That was my only point in drawing that comparison.
-
I don't think I said he doesn't get a reaction, because he gets the best reaction in the company. It's just not all positive like Austin 9 years ago. Chill out dude, I'm not contesting that Cena isn't a draw, just that he's not comparable to an Austin or Rock.
-
Cena's such an anomoly because the kiddies eat him up and get their parents to shell out the cash for his merchandise, but a pretty decent portion of the fanbase loathes the guy.

Lex Luger. Carl Oulette (who's fine as a power wrestling) inexplicably in the X Division. Michael Shane's ungodly long title reign. AJ Styles as an opening act. Ya know, this statement's actually pretty accurate.

TNA stupidity so great it warrants its own thread
Corkscrew_Senton replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in TNA Wrestling
Vince Russo's current booking is minutely better than it was in 2000 WCW, but that's like saying pissing your pants is better than shitting your pants. Both suck and both are embarassing. Don't take this as coming from a TNA hater, 'cause I still watch TNA and as recently as nine months ago was a HUGE TNA fan. I don't like the rationale of rallying behind the product simply because it exists when it's flubbed up a lot of stuff in the last five months. It's maddening to see TNA in its best position TV wise with the prime time Spike deal, with its most loaded roster in company history, be at its worst. And when I say at its worst, that includes 2002, because 2002 had those incredible X Division matches to counteract all the Southern-fried goofiness. Personally, I think by pointing out the flaws of TNA I am getting behind it, because if enough true fans point out what's wrong than the company might change its direction, since the TNA brass apparently has its collective ear to the Internet. And I mean constructively pointing out what's flawed, not DVDVR flunkies "THIS IS WORSE THAN WCW PETEY WILLIAMS IS WORSE THAN VISCERA WRABBLE WRABBLE WRABBLE" silliness. -

This is no way related to this awesome UNC-G'Town game, but....fuck Joakim Noah. -
Could you imagine Hunter having a title reign like Sammartino's? Granted though with the advent of weekly television a yearlong title reign seems much longer than say, Superstar Graham's yearlong reign did, I'm sure.

This would be one of the last PPV's I would change. I figured someone would say this, so I'd like to defend this choice. Hunter - Angle was one of the best storylines of this era, and they never blew it off. WM would have been the perfect place for this. Same with Benoit's split with the Radicalz...no real blow-off. Shane vs. Vince would have been the perfect time to strike with the first seeds of WCW, why they didn't at the most-watched event is baffling especially since Shane dropped that bombshell right before WM.

Hogan doesn't lose the title to Andre. Instead, DiBiase wins #1 contendership, setting up Million Dollar Man vs. Hogan at Wrestlemania. To play off on the "DiBiase can buy and sell people" gimmick, he beats Hogan with a fast count, revealing after being handed the belt that he paid off the ref. Macho Man, who earlier in the night defeated Andre for a shot at the title (thanks in part to botched interference by DiBiase) decides to take his shot right then and there. Andre's upset with DiBiase, so he's out of the equation. However, MDM still has his paid-for ref, so he accepts the challenge. Macho dominates and hits the flying elbow drop. The ref won't count, so Hulk lays him out and slaps the knocked out ref's hand down, 1-2-3. Macho wins the title for the happy ending and his spot in the limelight. Because of the Dusty-ish finish, we get a hot feud between Mach and DiBiase already set up, with the two exchanging the title a few times before a big blowoff at Summerslam, with Macho going over (cage match perhaps)...and planting the seeds for the next year's WM main event, Hogan vs. Savage.
