    Smackdown Spoilers for 3/16 airing

Once again, this coincides with my point exactly. No one's going to remember. It's not going to bury Mistico since no one knows WTF the shoot aspect of the match is, and it doesn't do anything to get MVP over as a threat to Benoit. The match doesn't make him (MVP) look bad by any means (no harm no foul), but it doesn't do anything to add heat to the Wrestlemania feud (no advancement of the angle). Hence, a waste of time.

    Wrestling Society X (WSX)

I watch a lot of PWG personally and I can't remember ever seeing a Tornado promo. He tends to get away with not doing one due to his charisma. As far as in-ring, if nothing else his moveset is the best around. But he's good, yeah. Well admittedly it's hard to guage a guy's in-ring talent by WSX since the matches are so short, I'll definitely try to give his PWG matches a look-see. And based on that promo I saw, they're smart to keep him away from the mic.

    Smackdown Spoilers for 3/16 airing

Exactly what I was thinking. The shoot aspect of it is pointless because 95% of the SmackDown fans don't get the reference, and it reverts back to MVP's debut. How does beating up a one-time jobber make him look like a threat to a former World Champion and legit badass? It'd be like if they booked Umaga to beat local jobbers again to hype the WM match.

    Smackdown Spoilers for 3/16 airing

JBL, King Booker, and Malenko all were pushing hard to get him signed. The dumbass shows up, does a tryout match (which is praised) and then tells Johnny Ace, "Oh--I just remembered I have contract with CMLL...sorry." Yeah, what he did was stupid. My point wasn't to the contrary, it was WWE is wasting time by burying someone when most fans aren't going to know the reference. It was a squash match to put over MVP and set up the Benoit/MVP announcement for WM. How is it wasting time? It served a purpose for the non-informed fans and it was a not so subtle dig at Mistico for that stunt he pulled. Subtle or not, a large percentage of the fanbase isn't going to get it. Hell, they could bring out a masked jobber called "La Mistica de Tepita" and the majority of fans aren't going to get the reference. It's an established worker beating a one-time jobber, who they've never seen before and will never see again, period.

TNA Comments which don't warrant a thread

The Electrified Cage match was announced at the tapings to be taking place at Lockdown. Is selling PPVs on the fear of death TNA's new strategy? FMW deathmatches ruled well except for the no rope barbed wire and Mr. Pogo ones. Ah, Mr. Pogo. There's no better compensation for lacking basic ring skills then simply stabbing people with lawnmower blades.

I've always read good stuff about Human Tornado, but I've never watched a PWG show so my only knowledge of him is from WSX. The promo he cut on X-Pac was BAD. I mean...wow. Fucking awful. And the only match I saw of his was ok, not worthy of the shorts creaming he gets. I may need to watch some PWG to understand the love, 'cause based on that alone I don't get it.

Not sure I get the point of the vague Mistico burial. It seems like the sorta SHOOT crap Vince Russo would do, like when he said "this is when I'm supposed to play chicken shit heel" to Ric Flair on Nitro and no one in the crowd knew what he was talking about.

    OAO Destination X PPV Thread

For the most part people are hitting the nail on the head. Joe shouldn't just have won the belt last night, he should've been champion back in the late fall/early winter, and the buildup to a FIRST Joe-Angle match for Slammiversary should be on right now. I've said it before, I'll say it again: this company frustrates me. Things were looking headed in the right direction half-a-year ago, so why did someone think it would be a good idea to bring in a notoriously awful booker? Things I would have done differently last year, leading up to now: - Christian goes over in King of the Mountain, but does so through nefarious means to plant the seeds of a heel turn. - Sting bounces Jarrett in the summer rather than at BFG. A jealous Cage wants Sting out of the picture now that Jarrett's out. - Christian feuds with Sting in late summer/early fall, going over. - Christian ducks Joe. - Joe destorys Christian at BFG to win the belt. - Joe is still champion today with defenses against Abyss, Sting, Christian, maybe Rhino or AJ for good measure. - Angle faces anyone BUT Joe, with the build to a one-on-one come Slammiversary.

    300

300 was badass, plain and simple. I saw an NYT review of it that not-so-vaguely referred to it as Nazi'ish. Which reminded me why I hate movie reviewers. There was a TMNT preview before my showing. I'm 24, I have no kids, but damnit I don't need an excuse to see this movie, embarassment be damned!

15 million unique website hits? Bullshit. wwe.com would be drawing more than Yahoo. That website must have one of those features that counts each view to a different page as a "unique" hit.

    OAO 3/8 Impact Thread

TNA is so damn frustrating. Last week there was a sign of life, an actual decent show under Russo. Now it sounds like they're going back to "same old shit."

Don't kid yourself, no one from ROH is every bringing back the GHC Heavyweight...or well, any GHC title to the United States. I think the Briscoes week-along Jr. tag team reign that never left Japan is the closest it's going to get.

Minus Killings? His booking in 2002 from the promo with Rick Steamboat to actual winning the belt then defending it every week was superb.

Most prestigious World Championship in wrestling Today

If you're talking the whole world I guess it's best to look at every facet. You can discount Mexico, as tournaments are more important over there than belts. The belts they do have are rarely defended. In Japan, AJPW is in a big funk so you can discount the Triple Crown. NJPW introduced that awesome new belt, only to have Brock Lesnar literally steal it, so they've had to revert to the old design and hold a tourney for the vacant title. NOAH has had problems establishing a new champion and have had to give the title back to Misawa, who's a great wrestler for sure, but it happened because Marufuji's reign wasn't going well. In the US, the NWA Title was won and defended through such wacky means that it's devalued. Plus the belt is just too old, small and ugly for aesthetic purposes. It's OK for the Triple Crown to be old, small and ugly, as having three belts makes up for it, but the NWA World belt needs an upgrade. The ROH title is now truly world, and has been booked well. A knock on it is it's still at a small scale. The ECW title? Well... The WWE title has a great lineage and although I can't stand John Cena has been booked well. I really really really hate that spinner crap, but it doesn't take away from the belt being booked strong and having that history. As an aside with the spinner, it doesn't even go with Cena's current character. When he was a rapper and anti-authority, it made sense. But the '80s Hogan fight the odds stomp around like a dingus when coming out of the curtain salute the crowd Cena? He's an entirely different character. Get a different belt. The World Heavyweight title has another strong lineage. It hasn't been booked as strong as the WWE title because of Rey's awful "lose every match" reign. It's a much grander looking belt though, that's for sure.

If WCW bought the WWF in 1996......

God, I can actually hear it with his voice in my head. "THIS PROMISES TO BE THE GREATEST NIGHT IN THE HISTORY OF OUR SPORT!" "BUT IS HE WITH THE NWO OR WCW?!" And oh man, the old school WCW fans who threw trash in the ring...priceless. I can just picture those days, the show ending with the ring filled with cups and popcorn containers, and Hogan yelling at the camera. "NWO BROTHER! STINGER'S A PIECE OF CRAP! FLEXY LEXY, BROTHER! DUDE! BROTHER! NWO! FOR LIFE BROTHER!"

Matt Morgan? Giant Bernard? Giant Bernard would get a big F YEAH from me. His work in Japan = Awesome Problem in my eyes with that: How many people will see him as yet another WWE cast-off into TNA? Considering how often angles are booked with guys who hated each other a month before teaming up, do you think it would be viable for TNA to bring him in and just talk about him as this monster gaijin star from Japan (e.g. wrestling fans' "short term memory")? Maybe play up his New Japan Cup championship, his headlining an IWGP title match, etc.? He's just too gold right now to not be in the States, if booked properly he could be the new early 90s Vader.

Lucha Libre Galvision TV Time Slots?

.....what the fuck did i just watch? !APOCALIPSIS AHORA! And raza, big props on the Wagner avatar. There's a guy TNA would be smart to give a look to -- incredibly talented and can speak English.

If WCW bought the WWF in 1996......

WCW had god awful main eventers in 1996 but a superb midcard (Ultimo Dragon, Liger, Malenko, Benoit, Rey, etc.). WWF had great upper tier players ('Taker, Michaels, Hart, Mankind, Austin) but a horrible midcard. Though in theory combining the two would make sense, since each had the missing piece the other was lacking, no way would it have gone over in any shape. Just too many goofy booking ideas on both ends.

Fair enough, I can accept that. I just don't think it'd be less entertaining if he ended up in TNA.

No, I didn't miss Hawk's point. Yeah, the WWE is guaranteed money so for him personally it's super to stick around. But as a fan there's plenty for him to do, and that wasn't Hawk's point. He was saying that TNA had nothing as far as wrestling for him, not that it had no financial security.

Monkeys Eat Bananas, Horses Eat Oats

Benoit against AJ Styles or Christopher Daniels? Benoit vs. Joe? Yeah, that'd be just awful, it would be so much more entertaining for the fans if he faced Umaga. And RE: Jado and Gedo. The two have been successful in New Japan as part of the CTU heel faction and really haven't appeared in America much (if at all) since their ECW appearances. They're very good, and from recent NJPW stuff I've seen, they're at the pinnacle of their careers. I'd be interested to know what WWE thinks of them, as they're smaller guys (Gedo's about 5'9, 195 and Jado's 5'11, 210) but they don't work a high flying style. They're more of a methodical, traditional heel tag team.
