A video that makes me quite sad: Jung Dragons vs. Air Raid from the last Thunder. WCW had been, well, *good* in its last month. That was such a surreal era for me as a wrestling fan. I was hoping WCW would bounce back as its "own" promotion despite the buyout. So many expectations, so much letdown.

WWE Japan featuring that wacky Shinsuke Nakamura as an 80s-rock-obsessed party animal! WWE Mexico featuring that can't-get-along tag team of Brazo de Plata and Cibernetico! WWE Europe with Paul The Pirate battling Doug Williams (complete with "boring" gimmick)! Yeah, fuck that. I'd rather WWE keep its shitty-9-months-out-of-the-year style (I'll give it its due for being solid right now) stateside than having my Internet bastions SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT'ized. Oh, and raza? The bookers wouldn't be smart enough to put on good minis matches. Mascarita Sagrada would get heat for not working the WWE style Everyone would be lining up at Arena Mexico to see him doing restholds!

This week was much better in comparison than what had being going on the last few months. I'm glad to see the matches get more time. Like ChrisMWaters said, I seem to remember Austin get outnumbered on several occasions before Wrestlemania. However, Joe's build hasn't been nearly strong enough. I would hope they're going the old school route of "face is much better but heel has a gang, so face gets his shot in a cage." That seems likely, and having Joe destroy Christian in the cage at Lockdown would be great. Then they can slow build to Joe vs. Angle for BFG with Joe getting the decisive win over the one man he never dominated.

Ya know, if Big Vision cut out the seizure-inducing camera cuts, made it an actual wrestling promotion with regular shows, and held PPVs I bet WSX could thrive. It would have to be much more like the WSXtra than the MTV show. It's amazing how much the two differed. But I'd watch a fed that was like Xtra.

This was something Russo did right, make Booker a top face. Then it got fucked up when Nash beat Booker for the title two months later -

I don't get it either. I don't see why Gabe keeps pushing BJ. There's nothing really bad about BJ's work, but he has no charisma or personality at all and his work isn't outstanding enough to warrant a top spot. Could be because BJ's been around for a very long time. He's dedicated to the company, and as unsensational as he is, he's improved by leaps and bounds since '03. Not that that makes him worthy of being the promotion's top guy, but just sayin'. -
Definitely. Either he's not quite clicking with her sense of humour, or he just doesn't want to. I'd vote the latter.

Good, you're awake. When was this chair made?

Wasn't NYR concocted with the idea WWE would always run it in San Juan, then something happened in '05 that made them abandon that plan? Not sure if there's any truth to that, but I seem to remember there originally being a deal between Quinones and McMahon to hold NYR in Puerto Rico annually.

Last year's big Detroit house show did a lot to 1. completely kill Lance Hoyt for a few months and 2. plant the seeds for an Eric Young push. Young's mannerisms during his match against ICP were classic, and the crowd was cheering him on much more than the "hometown" clowns. Of course, that probably had as much to do with most people hating ICP as it did with Young's awesomeness, but still...

I like the Bashams and Christy is smokin' hot, so that I like. I just wish the NAO/James Gang/VKM/Worthless Shits would leave already. They're both just so awful, and stuck in '98 -- hey kinda like Vince Russo!

I think it's funny BVD calls Rogan a "candy ass," considering the guy is pretty jacked and trained in numerous fighting disciplines. Ned Holson fucking sucks, period. All he's doing is stealing someone else's not funny jokes and trying to capitalize on Dave Chappelle's social/racial humor. He's a douche bag, a thief and an all-around unfunny piece of shit. EDIT: And I call him Ned Holson, his real name, because it pisses me off he goes by a more Latino sounding pseudonymn to sound more ethnic. God he sucks.
-
Well, since it's Russo booking, the man who gets his ass kicked before the PPV wins the PPV match. No way Angle jobs to Steiner. So, Steiner kicks Angle's ass tonight.

That's dumb. Skipper's a pretty good wrestler, he could have helped the X Division as a single. Hell, they're dumb to get rid of tag teams anyway since a solid tag team division would actually separate it from WWE.

Do these Dragon Gate belts with strange titles have different rules, ie is there something specific defining the Open the Brave Gate title vs. the Open the Dragon Gate title? -
People rag on Tenay quite a bit for his announcing, but he seems like the type who'd book the show to be about wrestling instead of stupid gimmicks and storylines.

Punk is using Go 2 Sleep now? That's the best thing I've read on the board all day! He's like a character I'd make on No Mercy. Look out for the renamed CAW Punk. RE: Dupree He's not bad in the ring, does the old school heel schtick well enough. Bad man has he ever been saddled with some bad gimmicks -- the "tap into the mulletheads' demographcy Frenchy gimmick," "Foreigner A teaming with Foreigner B gimmick," and "underwear model jobber." He'd be better as a pretty boy with a hot, bitchy valet heel. He's old school in the ring, might as well give him an old school gimmick -- and not one meant to incite those annoying YOO-ESS-EH! chants.

I would love to see TNA come to the West Coast for a house show tour. If they hyped up Sting and Kurt Angle as the big names, maybe use the AAA talent exchange to get in some luchadores, run at places like Anaheim Convention Center, Grand Olympic Auditorium and Jenny Craig Pavilion they could really put on some good shows with sell-out crowds. EDIT: And it seems logical for them to do some shows at midsize venues in Charlotte and Atlanta. I would imagine those are still wrestling hotbeds, right?

Once again, imagine if it was your job. Maybe I'm caddy, but if a company I busted my ass for was screwing me over financially despite being one of its top producers, I'd have no qualms publicly bashing it. In fact, I think it'd be warranted.

I want a heel CM Punk. He's one of those guys who seems like he's a genuine cock, it would be so easy to get him over as an uber-heel.

RE: Batista's decision...I think I may have liked the WM contract signing more. HHH went into one of his long promos he was notorious for and Batista just sits there completely no-selling. Eye rolling, sighing, no real reaction, until HHH is done. Then Batista just sits up, looks around for a second and says "You talkin' to me?" Perfect reaction and tie-in to the movie theme they were using for that WM. Man, Batista was golden during that run, it's a shame he was moved to SmackDown.

Agreed. On a separate note, I was thinking of something for the X-Division, let me know your thoughts: Give the X Title to a worker who uses a slow, methodical style. Maybe Bobby Roode. Have him use a bunch of holds and power moves, and in his promos he bashes the fast paced X-style, a la Steve Corino's anti-hardcore movement. Then you have direction for not just the champion and the horribly wasted Roode, but you give the X faces some kind of direction.
-
Well, that may be the thinking with an Umaga push, but I think you'd have to be a clown to buy it. It'd be like pushing the uber-offensive Saba Simba character to counter 2000-era Booker T. The only thing similar is the race of the worker.

Kash was indeed an awesome heel. It's too bad he wouldn't play ball more with the company. I can see where he was coming from wanting a title run, but even with as awesome as he was I couldn't picture him as World Champion. How would a Kid Kash run have worked?
