That was Kris Kloss, and he's the former XPW announcer. Hence his calling toad-looking Supreme "a legend."
-
Just because they said KAOS held the XPW tv title and keep getting ask questions about XPW don't mean they promoting XPW. I watch XPW, WSX and XPW is totally different. Yeah, thus far WSX has yet to do 12-minute skits about Kaos branding himself with a coat hanger.
-
Could be because Kobashi uses his chop as a set-up for several other moves like the lariat and Burning Hammer, while for Khali it's his only move. Well, that and the "choke lift into a gentle laying down of his opponent."
-
"Kenny Dykstra" is a lame gimmick, unless he starts coming down to the ring with a wad of tobacco in his cheek and JR starts pronouncing his name like he has to hawk up flem, a la Harry Caray.
-
"Certain people" = Morons. Everything he says is spot on. I was a huge TNA fan most of last year, but now I just get so frustrated by the current product. Russo needs to get gone, and soon. I'm glad people with a public platform like Storm are saying so.
-
Well yeah, that's 100% true.

So the shitty AAA La Parka might be going rudo. It's bad enough that this crappy wrestler uses the La Parka gimmick, now it's looking like CMLL's booking of the REAL La Parka is being copied in AAA.

Which plays into why Team 3D should have demanded Cornette put them in a match against LAX rather than challenging LAX, which made no sense for a number of reasons. They tell Cornette they want revenge against LAX but know if they go after them on the streets LAX will cry foul and go to the cops, but if they do it in a Streetfight they get their revenge legally and LAX can't go to the cops over it. Exactly. Booked that way, it makes sense. And raza, I agree about the Bullet Bob stuff from last year, I didn't see the point of bringing him in. This angle however fits in with the LAX thug gimmick, so I wouldn't mind it if it had been booked logically, like HTQ maps out.
-
I agree luke-o that the Dudleys reporting LAX to the police makes them look chicken shit (in wrestling terms of course). But as someone else already said it would have made sense for Tenay to report it to the police, but then the Dudleys tell the cops they won't press charges and they'd rather get LAX in some violent match for retribution.

The best example being the Hart/Benoit match at Mayhem in Canada. All that was needed was for the two to go out and wrestle for twenty minutes in a ****+ match that would have gotten over huge and would have elevated both men. Instead, we got a 17-minute match marred by run-ins and interference that did nothing but take the match down and turn it into a clusterfuck. Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. I remember reading in an interview with Hart that he went to Russo asking for a 60-minute match with Benoit, with Chris coming up just short but looking great, which would eventually build to him winning the title. That would have been great booking, and clear alternative from what WWF was doing at the time. It amazes that the higher-ups running WCW didn't realize that the more it tried to be like WWF, the worse the company became. HEY! Sounds like a fed these days...

Russo did some things right, namely pushing Benoit and Hart ('99) and Steiner (2000). What's frustrating, and along the lines of something I said in the WWE folder, is when somebody/thing shows potential but does boneheaded things to negate the positive. Russo's the perfect example, because he pushed these fresh faces fans wanted to see in the main event. Yet, he would simultaneously make 10 dumb booking calls to negate the one positive. While Bischoff and Co. built the casket, Russo sealed it shut and dumped it in the ocean.

Thats because Wrestlemania is THE ppv where they can make the most money as its the biggest one of the year and everyone get excited around wrestlemania. Can you really see people getting really pumped up in the weeks leading to unforgiven for example? No, I don't expect other PPVs to be booked the same as WM. However, I don't expect other PPVs to be booked like a monkey slinging shit at a wall. 2000/pre-Invasion 2001 is a good example of having great build-up to "minor" PPVs, and even better build up to the big shows.
-
WCW with Russo was bad, but I would take his version of it over the early 2000 Sullivan era with Sid and THE HULKSTER feuding. I would also take Russo's booking over what was going on in the summer of '99 with the No Limit Soldiers and Hogan winning the belt AGAIN, after Savage won it in a fuckin' tag team match. That said, I still watch and enjoy TNA moreso than Raw or ECW, but TNA was better this past summer than it is now.
-
HBK - Batista won't happen since Shawn wouldn't jump to SmackDown, and I highly doubt Sabu and/or RVD are around by WM, much less in a match.
-
The current build-up of the WM main event is awesome...which in a way, frustrates me. Why is it most of the time, WWE bookers can write great storylines heading into Wrestlemania, but be so lousy the rest of the year?
-
I couldn't give two shits about Rodimer, but Harry Smith's debut being in a stupid brawl with no mention of who he is whatsoever is a shame. That kid has star written all over, from his look to his lineage, and the fact he can WORK. Of course, as we learned from Paul Burchill, WWE isn't horribly interested in big guys who can go.
-
For real? Where did you hear this from? Could be either my shitty interpretation of things or hopeful thinking, but I would imagine Joe's getting the title soon from the booking. WARNING: Incoming tangent... If booked well, Joe losing to Angle could be a great thing in the long run. Build it up as either Joe beats Christian to win the title, and down the road has to overcome his past by defeating Angle to retain and solidify himself as the premiere player -OR- earn the belt by taking down Angle, the one man who has got the best of him. TANGENT OVER On topic, it's a shame to see Joe go. Obviously I got my first glimpse of Joe in Ring of Honor, and many of his matches there are my favorite of all-time. It's been said already, but there wasn't much more Joe could do in ROH. Having a great mind for the business, he'll put over some of the fed's next wave in a major way before heading out the door.

Smackdown Spoilers to be aired Feb. 2/07

*Puts on flame retardent suit* I think JBL is the most overrated commentating ever. And I don't mean in the "well he's OK but the IWC makes him out to be way better than he is" way. I mean in the "he's Mark Madden levels of annoying" way. -
This about sums up my feelings on the product. As nuts as I think most of Russo's writing is, I appreciate that he tries to give some personality to guys who were just Random Worker #114. But I miss the WRESTLING aspect of the show that was so prominent last year. To me, that's what separated TNA from WWE.
-
WTF!?!?! Shhh...don't question it too loudly. Russo might catch wind of it and make Lynn a time traveler gimmick.
-
They can and they will. I wouldn't be surprised if they assume fans tuning into USA and not seeing Raw will tune into Spike, simply because they used to have wrestling and want to see if they still have it. TNA haven't exactly done their best when it comes to getting the word out about anything they do. This is the thing that most frustrates me about TNA, moreso than even Vince Russo. TNA is just sooo bad when it comes to promoting itself. They really should have been buying ads on local commercial airtime during ECW after the Angle jump, or blocks during Raw. It amazes that someone like myself who has never worked in advertising and never took an ads class in college would know more than people in charge of a company trying to go national.

WWE's ECW is the wrestling equivalent of Michael Bay buying the rights to Evil Dead. Take a cult classic, drop what made it both "cult" and "classic," throw in hackneyed shit that's way over done, and VOILA! I mean, I agree with what NoCalMike said a few pages ago. No, it was never going to be the original ECW. But even in the summer, while nowhere near the original, it was a decent way to spend an hour of television. What's being presented now, however, I can't even tune into.

It's never a good idea for an ongoing tease to end up not making sense, even if you can lamely explain it away by hiding behind the idea that a heel lies so it doesn't matter. Things like this add up when it comes to people not trusting the promotion or not buying into future teases, and that ends up rendering future teases pointless because people have been educated into not buying into them. If it had been Christian making the tease one week and then revealing it the next, it would have still been bad but at least it wouldn't have seen them spending so much time teasing something, thus building up trust and/or expectations, and then the whole thing winding up making no sense and letting people down. Like when XPW was supposed to be bringing in Scott Hall, hyped a big surprise, and when he couldn't make it rather than recanting, had Kaos bring out homeless people
