I love Vince on the Monday Night Wars DVD saying "competition is good for business." That must be why anytime someone wants to compete, he does everything in his power to keep them from gaining new talent, new viewers, etc. Fucking asshole.
-
That makes waaaaaay too much sense for Russo. It'll be something like Angle banged Steiner's wife years ago, or some dumb RUSSO SHOOT with Steiner claiming he was Angle's supplier.
-
It's became painfully obvious that ECW wasn't brought back because the ECW mindset saved WWF in the '90s, and it wasn't brought back because fans wanted it. It came back because the Rise and Fall DVD sold well, and it was a chance for WWE to have another hour of wrestling on television and do something with hopelessly un-over workers. Sucks 'cause I had hope for it after the two One Night Stand PPVs.

Long awaited? Maybe if you're an adolescent boy without access to the Internet. Otherwise Kelly's Expose is fucking worthless.

Which can always have a screwy finish. Seems like they could do Kennedy with a win at No Way Out to take the title, then a cage match blowoff at Mania.

I think Victoria and Mickie James are both gorgeous. Melina's had way too much work done, and it shows. Not that she was good looking prior to the surgery mind you. Michelle McCool (is she still around?) is highly underrated.

I'll be sorely disappionted if this Russian stiff doesn't have a "In Soviet Russia, title belt wears YOU!" promo.

The opening match was fantastic, and was what Impact's X matches should be. The battle royale was way too frenetic for my taste, and I thought the explosions were extra hokey. I hope the remaining shows gravitate more towards that Sydal - Evans match style, 'cause that was what I want in a wrestling show. Oh, and Teddy Hart's a douche bag. Completely no-selling just about everything, what a tool. Hasn't learned a thing in three years of getting kicked out of fed after fed.
-
Well yeah, the division itself was treated as a joke. It was WCW after all. But despite that the matches themselves were generally good.
-
The WCW Hardcore division was far superior to WWF's. WCW actually had some really great hardcore matches, while in the WWF the division was OMG PETE GAS PINS TORRIE ON TOP OF A URINAL!!11!1!

RE: Shantelle Taylor I really think this could be a tremendous angle. The masked character could keep beating people in competitive matches, is mysterious (ie not giving backstage interviews). She eventually wins the Cruiserweight Title, and at that point unmasks. She's over as a good wrestler and character, and it's not the stupid fluke woman victory. Because she's earned, it's not the dump on the belt Madusa or Jackie winning it was. Plus, an angle like this would be really really positive PR. -
Quite frankly, inserting Shawn would make it quite similar to WM2000 with Edge and Cena playing Rock/HHH, Orton playing TBS (youngest guy billed as the future) and Shawn as Foley. A triple threat was done last year with Orton and it was flimsy. Just stick Shawn in there. Is it strange that in my head I hear this post as stated by this man:

Is Kriss Kloss the announcer from XPW who would always say things like "WHY THE HELL AM I CALLING YOU MARTINEZ" to the color commentator? Yep. Too bad they couldn't get Larry Rivera to join him. I DOAN LIKE DIS VI-A-LENT STUFF. EES TOO BLOODY CHICO etc etc
-
That right there reminds me just how awful the whole Invasion angle was. No mention of WCW or ECW anywhere, just "Stephanie vs. Vince." What a steaming pile of crap.

To be fair to Hunter, Batista was put in the spot originally intended for Orton as a contingency plan, right? Batista was getting crowd reactions so they had to go with him for the WM spot, and Orton was generic and boring. -
It wasn't Striker doing impressions that got him heat. He was first on Raw, and got heat there though I don't know why. When he went to Smackdown, to tape stuff for WWE.com and do a dark match, he said something that got back to JBL that for some reason had JBL all fired up and when he was told to try and defuse the situation he said something else that saw Bob Holly tell Striker he had 24 hours to learn how to fight. Apparently, Striker said something to the effect of that even though he was sent to Atlanta he was able to talk his way out of it by telling DeMott and Jody Hamilton that he had business to take care of in New York. He was trying to be smart but it wound up with people hating him even more. What set Guerrero off on him is when Striker was asked what he was doing on Smackdown, Striker joked back with something like "just taking their money", which didn't sit too well and when Guerrero told Striker he needed to smarten up Striker again tried to be funny and it backfired in a big way because Guerrero got mad at Striker and walked off, and when Benoit found out what Striker had done, which he felt was disrespecting Guerrero, he threw Striker's bags out of the locker room and told him to dress somewhere else. Sounds like the usual treatment an intelligent guy gets from meatheads. No, it sounds like he was mouthing off for no reason. Not sure what in that story makes it seem like he was mouthing off. To me it reads like he was trying to joke around to lighten the mood. Maybe he did mouth off, who knows. But I'm not sure where you gather he mouthed off based solely on that story.

The only way I ever care to see Randy Orton is as a Positively Kanyon-esque heel, giving cameramen/ring crew/fans and people out in the street the RKO. -

I love it! Make him a Barry Horowitz-type in that he's a jobber, but a jobber with angles and build-up. Regardless of his name, put "Art Vandalay" on the tights, give him an inexplicably attractive manager who he hates, and show vignettes with him lying to the entire roster. -

Totally off-topic, but seeing his name made me think: I'd like to see The Miz adopt a gimmick like "The Wiz" from Seinfeld. -

Since having shoot fights on the card worked so well for NJPW a few years ago Russo's a jackass. Imagine if the writers of The Office continued to normal storylines, but then started focusing on Steve Carrell rather than the character Michael Scott. That's how I look at his writing. -
Muerte Cibernetica was "killed" in a casket match. Cibernetico and crew threw him in a volcano. The Hell Brothers are the most over group in mexico right now. That's basically all you need to know. ....they threw him in a volcano? It's AAA. No need to search for logic.

A guy getting dropped by WCW really never meant much since WCW was run by morons. And in ECW, Austin's character was closer to his WCW persona than his WWF. In ECW he was an egomaniac who compared himself to a "wrestling Jesus" and was dubbed "Extreme Superstar." His WWF heel character was apparently of his own creation, based on serial killers, and his face persona was pretty much a version of the Sandman.
-
Austin was in ECW for like a year, but had been a pretty prominant player in WCW well before that. Mysterio started his US career in ECW but was there for like three months.

There's a quality to CW Anderson I really enjoy. While I don't want to see him as a headliner anywhere, he's a very enjoyable midcarder. -
I love Angle's in-ring work, but if he booked the feud it would have been him going over Joe 8 times in 8 weeks, then raping Joe after the final match. Russo's booking wasn't much better, but still...
