I see what you mean, and to an extent agree. I think it would have been entirely possible to turn Abyss face without this stupid backstory, though. Have him lose whatever big match, whether it be to Sting, Christian, Joe, whatever. Mitchell berates him, brings in a new monster to replace Abyss. Mitchell's new guy(s) repeatedly blindsides Abyss, thus giving him fan sympathy. Then he can feud with the new monster heel. He can still be the same character, but because of the revenge factor has crowd support.

I wouldn't piss on Skip Bayless if he was on fire.

AJ Styles and Tomko are the two most over men in the company with Lethal a close third, and after watching the Tokyo Dome show (god bless YouTube) I'm more convinced than ever Giant Bernard would get over huge. Styles needs to be thrust back into the main event, and not as a lacky but as the man. And...never thought I'd actually type this...Tomko should be in the main event, too. His work is so much improved, it's mind blowing. He's good on the mic, good in the ring, just a great asset overall. On the other end of the spectrum, Samoa Joe is toast. I'm afraid his character has hit the point of no return as far as being the top babyface. Basically he's early 1997 Bret Hart to me, who they tried to get over as a babyface despite the fact his character was that of a complainer. Complaining just doesn't work as a face characteristic.

Abyss should be a destructive, remorseless monster. Period, end of discussion. Not too hard to book that.

Semantics. Whether he's doing it to look out for himself (likely) or respect for the company (doubtful) it shows he's grown.
-
How is that not one in the same? Considered he's burned numerous bridges in the past, it shows he's learned.

If true, good for Ki. Shows a level of maturity that was missing much of his career.

edgehead69 tries to be funny. And fails.

That "2003 was worse than this year!" argument was easily, hands fucking down, the dumbest thing I've read on a message board. That makes IS ROCKY BLACK look like something that would be on Hardball with Chris Mathews.

That looks like a really amazing card. And since I assume it's NJPW booking and not TNA, it should live up to its potential.

Actually I'd say that's a pretty damn good comparison. -

I do agree with you Cena has gained a lot of popularity with adult males since '06 when he was getting audible boos. But yeah, Sapp isn't bad in the ring by any means. The NJPW and HUSTLE stuff of his I've seen online was entertaining, I just meant he's not going to be a wet dream for ROHbots (and I mean the hardcores who chant smarky shit, not ROH fans in general. I personally enjoy most ROH but hate the fanboys). -

So basically, he's like Rikishi circa 2000 except he's black and he's ripped? But with a million times the charisma and personality. Rikishi I always felt like was a novelty act. Haha, look at the dancing fatty wearing a thong, HE JUST WANTS TO HAVE FUN BUH GAWD KING! No no, that does not apply to Sapp. Sapp's is more a Hulk Hogan in the '80s kind of charisma. I really and truly believe he is capable of being *THE* next big thing in wrestling. Not in the fashion that will get workrate fans excited, and not in the Cena "women and children love him, adult males hate him" fashion. Real, full-fledged, Rock or Hogan big. -

Washington - Pittsburgh had a pretty wild ending. Sam Young's the only guy at Pitt who's impressive.

Heard on the radio this morning Vegas is drastically changing the odds because of all the Brits betting on Hatton.

Shame that organization never has had any luck with big men, because Jefferson's playing like an All-Star this year and Carter has been good the last year-plus. Kristic was starting to show a lot before his knees went to shit. Kinda like Rony Seikaly ten years ago...had a career year with the Nets then his body just gave out. Jason Collins is so horrible, he shouldn't start anywhere let alone with a team trying to win the East.

It's not that big of a deal since ECW is basically Velocity. WWE didn't stack the card or anything to try and compete. Had Vince decided he wanted to prove a point, he could have just put Rey/Undertaker/Batista/Edge on the show and won out on the ratings. As far as the announcing, Tenay was good in WCW strictly as a knowledgable analyst. No jokes, no awful play-by-play or shilling. Bring in Scott Hudson and make him the PBP guy, give Raven or Simon Diamond heel commentary duties and Tenay as the analyst and that would be a VAST improvement.
