    luke-o's look at...

Nate already said it, but Yoshino/Doi. That match last Impact was the balls. I know TNA won't do this as they have just entered into a deal with CMLL, but I think a tag team of Dr. Wagner/El Hijo Del Santo would get over huge in the States. Both are legends in Mexico, and Wagner speaks English and has charisma to spare.

Now there's something I can agree with! The '03 feud AMW had with XXX is about as perfect a tag team feud as you can ask for. AMW was 0-4 against XXX, unable to overcome the numbers game, but finally gets them in a cage for a straight 2-on-2 match. Good stuff. For current teams, I'd love to see a lengthy MCMG - LAX feud. I didn't think I'd say this two years ago when LAX was the hottest heels in the company, but they're great as faces too. That could work with MCMG as the heels, LAX as heels, or both faces.

    Impact Spoilahz for This Thursday

I agree. As a filler tag team I'm fine with the pairing, and would be fine with them winning the titles if they're kept together awhile. In the meantime though, use them to put over LAX, maybe feud them with Motor City Machine Guns after the X-Cup is over.

    Impact Spoilahz for This Thursday

LuckyLopez said exactly why my post was "fucking necessary." It's really tiresome watching every thread in this folder devolve into TheTruthiness Knows Best. Look, we know you think TNA sucks. That's fine, that's your opinion, and message boards exist for the espousal of opinions. But it's the same shit over and over, and it's every thread.

Here's a better idea. How about you just stop posting in this folder? I think that would be best for everyone.

    Impact Spoilahz for This Thursday

Impact was a damn good show last night. Curry Man - Koslov was entertaining, and MCMG - Doi/Yoshino was great. Joe - Kazarian, AJ - Angle. Good stuff all the way around.

Can we get a separate thread for you guys to have your pissing matches?

    Pundits you love/hate

As an Obama supporter whose opinion means jackshit, this being my first time venturing south of the rasslin portion of the board, I do think Hillary staying in may be beneficial to Obama. He won't looked stunned like John Kerry when the Republicans start throwing punches because he's already been there and learned how to leave no charge unanswered.

The smoke-and-mirrors nature of politics is funny. A lot of comparisons were made in the last three months to McCain's waltz to the GOP nomination and the Democratic struggle. Except, McCain was winning states like Missouri with 33%. Fun stuff.

Put over the top by another undeniable fact, that Barack Obama followed rules and didn't put his name on the Michigan ballot. If having no contingency plan for not winning Super Tuesday in a landslide is magnificent, then I guess so.

    CTDWAT: TNA Edition

This is true, can't dispute that. Monty Brown really should have had a title reign, namely in late 2004/early 2005. Joe should have won the belt in late 2006. I also think they could have pulled the trigger on Chris Harris last summer.

    CTDWAT: TNA Edition

(long argument) I say it's a trend. You deconstruct each title reign individually to dispute my claim. What words am I putting in your mouth? When did I say this "isn't a trend"? I merely made a few points on the examples. And jeez, one paragraph is a "long argument"?

    CTDWAT: TNA Edition

This would make twice in less than 30 minutes that something I didn't say was attributed to me. Am I missing something? I didn't say it's not a trend, was just making a few points on the guys mentioned. Personally my favorite title reign in the company was AJ Styles' first. I wish Monty Brown had been given a reign. And so on. I do think booking WWE castoffs too strongly is a weakness of the company: notice I didn't mention Kurt Angle? He shouldn't have been anything more than a JTTS to put over Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, and yes Christian or Tomko.

    CTDWAT: TNA Edition

Let's see: JTTS? Check. Jericho was fed to Goldberg not long before leaving, Christian to Cena. Mid-card title runs? Check. Jericho had the TV Title run in his last stretch, Christian was a perpetual IC holder/contender. Over with the fans for good mic and ring work? Check. So that's "nothing" alike? That's true. Jericho did get the IC quickly though, and had the Triple H "title win" within 6 months of being in the company.

    CTDWAT: TNA Edition

YAWN. 30 seconds for the caricature to show up, that's got to be some sort of record. I didn't compare the debuts, I compared where the two were located in the card in the companies they left and their being pushed by their new organizations right away because that's what fans wanted to see.

    CTDWAT: TNA Edition

My point is, they're more than happy to put the world belt on guys who were considered Just Another Midcarder in the WWE. As Truthy pointed out Shamrock was another one, and hell you could even count Killings and Raven if you defined it broadly enough. Christian coming to TNA had a feel like Jericho coming to WWF though. Jericho had been stuck in Nowheresville in WCW, and fans were clamoring for more from him. He got pushed much higher up the card right out of the gate in WWF. Christian was popular in WWE but not getting anywhere higher up the card than JJTS and was wildly popular in TNA right out the gate. The Rhino title reign, like bps pointed out, was a rock-and-hard-place decision. And c'mon Jingus, I expect better from you! Killings barely had a cup of coffee in WWF and got his first real push from TNA, and Raven was always incredibly popular under the Raven gimmick no matter where we went. You mean the guy who was more well-known for Ultimate Fighting than he was WWF and had been out of the WWF for about three years by that point?

    TNA spoilers for 29.05.08

Pretty sure others have already gone merrily down that road. It's sorta pointless to delve into any further, because it will lead to the usual argument that goes on between you and other posters in this folder. It's not productive for anyone but the dog who enjoys chasing his own tail.

    Impact Spoilers for 6/5/08

A damn good question. The more I know about D'Amore, the more I think he'd be a good head booker. The Knockouts are so entertaining and mostly no-nonsense like you said. And didn't he have the book in the summer of '05? That stretch when TNA had no TV and was doing Impact online was the best three-month stretch in the company history.

    ECW on Sci-Fi 5.27.08

Jesus. Vince will die before he ever unearths that match. The finish of the match was shown on the April 28, 2000 edition of ECW on TNN. Paul Heyman was not allowed to show the entire match and no footage of Tazz was to appear on the ECW Cyberslam 2000 home video. Actually, I don't believe any footage of the match was shown on ECW on TNN. IIRC, the only footage shown on TNN was Taz putting over Dreamer on the mic and handing the belt over before Dreamer gave his speech and you know the rest of the story. Ug, I know Dreamer losing the belt immediately made sense for his character, but it surprises me Paul E. really thought Justin Credible could get over as the company's top heel.

    Impact Spoilers for 6/5/08

Jingus, to answer your (rhetorical) question, the Knockouts division is quite good. It's the X Division circa 2002: something so unique and interesting, it compensates for an otherwise lackluster show.

    TNA spoilers for 29.05.08

Jingus and HTQ rarely have anything good to post about TNA, but both bring good points to the table. Truthiness contradicts himself in an on-going campaign to be the most pissy poster I have ever read in my Internetz existence. But yeah, TNA BLINDERZ~!

    Impact (5/22/2008)

cabbage, I agree. I don't see what was wrong with AJ's gimmick in 2004, that of a spectacular wrestler who never backed down from a fight. Perhaps I'm too easily entertained, but that AJ was my favorite.

    Let's Talk About.....The Hummer Angle!

Yeah, I know my friends were into the HHH-Steph-Angle angle, but tuned out for the Austin heel turn.

    Let's Talk About.....The Hummer Angle!

Oh boy, the HHH-Angle-Stephanie storyline. That was a great angle with a massively fumbled conclusion. Did it even HAVE a conclusion? I would have preferred that angle turn Trips face, culminating with the two facing off at Wrestlemania. But I suppose that's discussion for a different time.

    Let's Talk About.....The Hummer Angle!

The Hummer angle killed WCW for me. The Fingerpoke pissed me off, but I was still engaged in the product. Bret Hart feuding with Will Fuckin' Sasso didn't kill my interest. But the summer of '99 was such a collective crap heap, with this being the culmination, I didn't go out of my way to watch WCW anymore (at least, until the last three months in 2001 when it was surprisingly good). I can't believe bookers would have an angle with such little foresight. It certainly had potential, which makes the horrible execution that much more frustrating. I mean, getting things wrong like the fucking COLOR of the Hummer is inexcusable.
