It's Barber, why are you suprised? He's wonky, remember? This is a guy who still worships a long dead company, of course he's gonna hold a fued against a reporter who was anti said company. And fued suggests a two way street, I'd use the phrase 'unhealthy obsession' -
I never really got Buffy. I never got a chance to properly get into Angel. I think I just came after watching that trailer. After never even considering watching Firefly I reached a point on needing something to occupy oneself. And after a recent TV binge (watching Lost, Veronica Mars and Carnivale in very quick sucession) I decided to check out the aforementioned show. I watched that in a couple of days and then immediately came here remembering theres a trailer for the upcoming film. Oh.My.God. What kills me is that as much as I'd love to see this film in the cinema first time it ain't happening as no doubt theres going to be another 3 - howevermany months before this comes out in the UK. And I need to see this film, so very badly. What also kills me is that to get anyone else into this film I've got to ensure they watch all of firefly soon. Well, thats my little soliloquy to explain how great that show is.

Try switching strains of weed or just taking a break. I certainly find those help my tolerance a little but you certainly do build one up to weed through regular smoking - gone are the days when a joint passed round between 4 friends would get me high, I now smoke 'em to my self quite often and have little strong effects (bear in mind we brits smoke ours 'diluted' with tobacco so a single joint wouldn't be quite as strong as a pure one you guys do)

But the White Witch used that to control Edmund, so it must have had magic powers. Hash powers. Yes, because in a world where you have talking lions, witches with the ability to ice over the entire world, fawns, no end of other magical creatures and a wooden box which acts as a portal you definately need to use the mind control powers of hash to use little kids Showed the trailer to a friend whos obsessed with the series and she thought it looked like a fantastic adaption. Although I must admit the trailer does have a certain lord of the rings vibe to it (although that'll probably be the case with every epic fantasy film with battles in it)

These days Turkish Delight is just the first two ingrediants and I'm guessing the more innocent version was intended in Narnia. It's just a posh sweet basically, often flavoured with rose or lemon. You can buy it plenty in shops in england and it was more popular 50 - 100 years ago.

Right, heres a question. I'm sending a few episodes of AD to a friend who I think'll really enjoy them. However, I can only really send about 6 (posting CDs, blahblahblah). He's seen episodes 3 and 4 of series 1 but thats about it - so he has a rough idea of characters. I'm trying to pick out my 6 favourite episodes, but it keeps coming back to the fact that the brilliance of some episodes comes from the references to past ones and so on. So which 6 standalone episodes would you recommend as some of the best.

I've been lurking here for many a year - outside of the occasional thread in the Indie Wrestling folder and attempts at joining that most hardcore of discussion I really have very little to say. I was brought up very well and my parents instilled the strong idea of 'if you don't have anything worthwhile to say - don't say it' - a lesson many people could do with learning. Plus the fact that the only time I dipped my toe into the hardcore/gimmick pool it was painfully unfunny. I think the only real long thread I contributed more than a few words to was the 'Smoking Lounge' thread pretty much only occupied by AoO and Miss C. Marney But I find the discussion here great, I enjoy in particular some of the discussions in movies/TV and when they're on form General and Hardcore discussion. Plus this place makes my eyes hurt less because of the fan-fricking-tastic 'post in coherant english or be banned' law.

IWAMS runs more shows than PWG, CZW probably runs about the same (both groups run monthly-ish). And the fanbase comment is debateable. ROH is certainly bigger but thats why they say 2 out of 3 - and as no matter how indy NWATNA appears one can question the actual classification because of the presence of contracts - the thing which defines if you're independant or not. And to bring up the XPW 'developmental territories' (their words - not mine) is laughable considering that amounted to a small talent exchange with IWAMS, an angle in the FWA (who would most likely have brought over guys like Juvi and Super Crazy based on who they were using at the time), HWA using the Viking Hall once after XPW had pretty much folded - and erm, something with RevPro - it was so big I didn't remember it. Sure the article is laced with hyperbole - but the double shots idea is something that hasn't been done really, and certainly counts as a big event in indy wrestling.

Updated CZW Only the Strong: Scarred for Life Card
ulfistgut replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in General Wrestling
The quickfire title changes seemed a little odd when I first saw results but I think they did their job. They've both created a feeling that this will be a new start for CZW and given the show a real buzz to it - especially judging by the excitement amongst those who're at the show. Judging by peoples reactions this seems like an awesome show really - one I look forward to seeing. Plus it creates intrigue for the future; theres many possible opponents for Quack, how Frankie's championship will go (as he's the least likely of all the new champs). The fact that fans are even excited about the New H8 Club as champs shows something considering they were shitting over them previously. -
What closure do you want? Theres two endings to the story : The real ending - He got bored of making up that ridiculous story and occasionally makes posts to let people know that he still exists The story ending - Murdered by the mafia

Updated CZW Only the Strong: Scarred for Life Card

I love how Barber takes the word of angry ex-CZW workers as gospel. 'Rebel should be brought back 'cos he's my internet friend - he gave me an interview see~!' Jawn. Some of the points you make are accurate. Most are based on conjecture and just plain weird arguing - sure Kaos got a good pop on the first couple of shows - these were before he started wrestling (the run in and start of Messiah match). Look at the pops on his recent matches and tell me he's worth whatever they're paying to keep him going. -
Whilst the card may not be as stacked as recent CZW shows I'm interested to see what happens at this one seeing as it's supposed to be all about pushing new talent and toning down on the people that the fans don't really want to see as much anymore. Based on this I still have a little hope for the H8 Club match (although, yes, it's most likely going to be a squash). B-Boy/Kaos seems like a waste of B-Boy really, Kaos has been unimpressive, but perhaps this is his opportunity to shine or something. Shelley/Dutt had a killer match at the KoTDM 2003 and both have improved tremendously. SBS vs. Team Cash will definately be fun and has plenty potential depending on who makes up team Cash (I'd love to see some Eddy vs. Dragon but think he may end up challenging for the world title)
-
Is this confirmed or not so I can put it up there? That match is booked for the show in france - not COD
-
I'm guessing Ca$h/Bailey - but am not sure. Card certainly does look good - even if it has been thrown together by weird booking
-
Eh? What's so bad about green phlem - I've been coughing it up for the last few days (that's not intended in some macho thing or anything - I'd like to know whats wrong with me). I just assumed I had a mild cold (slight blocked up nose and sore throat accompanied this coughing - but as a smoker I guessed I'd just agrivated my cough a little with the smoking). Perhaps my standard philosophy on illness (do nothing and hope it goes away) may not have been the best course to take.
-
Alas, my attention span was too short - so I gave up after about 10 seconds and never saw the deadhead
-
Eh? If you're talking about the 'girl we did last week' comment I thought they were referring to the fact they did the memory wipe opp. on her last week. Then again, I haven't seen the film for a while so may have forgotten a line.

Movies that people say they hate... without seeing

Interesting choice of words - I could swear I've recently heard them elsewhere -
When did Petey Williams lose the IWA-MS Title?
ulfistgut replied to zyn081's topic in General Wrestling
Yeah, but you give the distinct impression you don't really follow the company (based on half your suggestions and comments not following the details of the angles and so no) so your confusion probably isn't of concern -
Article I did on the CZW license issue

Examples : Speculatitive bullshit. It stopped airing because an episode was put forward which the TV company refused to air - leading to a decision that the show wasn't worth it anymore. Leaving that out and putting your comment is just shoddy 'journalism' Whilst something (quite possibly politics) lead to Jack's leaving the promotion you should at least get your facts straight. The fact that New Jack appeared on the show after the one you mentioned suggests that it didn't 'abruptly end CZW's dealings with New Jack' You have some valid points and good research in there but you always seem to mire it with overexagurated inaccuracies. And to offer an alternative argument (whilst I suppose guys who are still with the company are less likely to criticise) but people like Mondo, Jimmy Rave, Alex Shelley and others have several times commented how much they like working CZW due to the close locker room atmosphere and so on (admittedly you can still have a close atmosphere and dislike your boss) -
Ew, no Mayan or Jordan thankyou very much. They're solid workers and all but they'd probably go down as well as the AllStar guys (IMO Mayan's high flying is overrated and sloppy - he works better when he cuts it out) If Birchill was a no-no then Zebra Kid would work well, that would give you a team of a fair mix of styles that also work similarly too.
