Not the ECW crowd. No offense, but I think the real ECW crowd moved on a long time ago.

I don't see how WWE, or anyone else, can move forward pretending that Benoit never existed.

I thought The Blind Side sucked. It had a few interesting stories regarding the left tackle position (Taylor, Walsh, etc.) but the overwhelming majority of the book was about Oher and the shady family that adopted him. That isnt really a reason why it sucked, but rather, a description of the book. "Ice cream sucks, it's cold." My description of the book explains why it sucked. It did not focus on the evolution of the left tackle position as the title implies. Rather, it focuses at least 70% on Oher and his shady family. Come on, even a shmuck could see the double meaning in the title "The Blind Side: Evolution of the Game." It covered the evolution of the left tackle fairly well, and then went on to tell an amazing recruiting story that speaks to part of football dont see, and the evolution from a game, into something far more than that... something, and I'll be vague as to not spoil it, that would lead the people in the book to do what they do. A book about the evolution of the left tackle would be 35 pages long, with pictures and a Jonathon Ogden scratch and sniff page. The book has two main audiences: 1) football fans who want to learn more about the left tackle position and 2) people who enjoy Oprah-style "inspirational" stories. A problem arises when someone like myself falls into category 1 and finds that perhaps 20% of the book outlining actual football information. So, to me, the book was a waste of time. What further hurt my opinion of the book was the bias Lewis displayed for the Tuohy family and the shady activities they did in order to get past NCAA requirements.

With the 48th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons select...Trevor Laws, Defensive Tackle, Notre Dame. I considered taking a DT with an earlier pick, but I felt this was the spot to finally commit to one. Laws can also play DE which will make him a valuable piece of the Falcons defensive line.

I finally got around to reading Michael Lewis' The Blind Side. The first chapter was excellent, but the rest of the book was loaded with bias regarding the Michael Oher situation. I was hoping for more information regarding the evolution of the left tackle position, but the book was probably 70-75% about this Michael Oher and his shady adopted family. Thumbs down.

The Atlanta Falcons select...Brian Brohm, QB, from Louisville. I was tempted to take a DT with this pick, but couldn't pass up Brohm at this point. Another area of need is RB, but I've been reading that the Falcons have contacted Michael Turner which would be a solid addition to the roster. EDIT: ESPN is reporting the Falcons signed Michael Turner.

Phils' Lidge re-injures knee on first pitch from mound CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Phillies closer Brad Lidge caught a spike in the mound on his first pitch of batting practice Saturday and hurt the same knee he had surgery on in October. Brad Lidge, the Phillies' biggest offseason acquisition, limped off the field after talking with team trainers. The team said it hoped to know more about the extent of the injury Sunday. "It was my push off leg," Lidge said. "I caught my spike in the mound. I threw the pitch but it felt like I pulled something in the knee. ... It swelled up a little, but I'm optimistic that I just pulled some scar tissue loose." Doctors removed torn cartilage from his right knee in the fall. The Phillies acquired Lidge and infielder Eric Bruntlett in a November trade that sent speedy outfielder Michael Bourn, infield prospect Mike Costanzo and reliever Geoff Geary to the Astros. The 31-year-old Lidge, who has 123 career saves, finished 2007 with 19 saves in 27 chances and a 3.36 ERA for Houston. When the Phillies acquired him, it allowed them to strengthen their rotation by making Brett Myers a starter again. "We'll find out more tomorrow," manager Charlie Manuel said of Lidge's injury. "We'll go from there and we're waiting to see how it feels [sunday]. He was in the stretch and threw one pitch and did it. He threw another and it still hurt him." The Phillies struggled with injury problems in the bullpen for much of last season. Setup man Tom Gordon and Myers both missed significant time due to injuries. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/spring2008/n...tory?id=3260676

The problem I see with Kearse is that I don't think he is going to sign for the money that would fit his usefulness. If he could be had on the cheap (like the Pats scenario) and you send him in as a stand up rusher on third downs he may still have something left. Unfortunately he will probably want something along the lines of starter money, which he is clearly not suited for at this point. Perhaps he'll return to the Titans.

All he has to say is that he's not a fag and all will be forgiven.

Al, do you plan on reading Chris Coste's book when it comes out?

Sounds like Jeremy Bloom all over again.
