WWE Tidbits of news worthy stuff

I forget who mentioned it on the board, but someone had a good idea with Hassan. When the crowd cheers "USA! USA!", he should grab a mic and remind everyone that he's from the USA.

    Simon Dean..

As soon as I saw this topic, I completely agreed. If I didn't know better, I'd say that Nova and Simon Dean are two completely different people.

Who has the best name in sports?

I thought James Thrash was a cool name. Too bad he sucks.

What will Orton do at WM?

Hire Carl Weathers to train Orton in order to find the Eye of the Tiger that he is desperately missing.

No Terrell Owens in Super Bowl

Situations like this completely fascinate me. Slightly off topic, but I remember the countless reports about Shawn Michaels not being able to take a bump ever again. I was genuinely concerned for him when he made his return. Now, a few years later, you'd never know he had anything wrong with him. All I have to say about this is that Owens knows his body better than anyone else. He's not stupid. I'm sure he loves that giant contract he signed with the Eagles this year. He wouldn't want to jeopardize it, I'm sure. It's amazing how when he first came to Philly everyone was concerned with him being a teamplayer and here he is willing to put his career on the line to help the team win a championship.

    TNA is depressing

I've finally been able to watch Impact, and my God, did it ever depress me. The younger guys had potential, but the guys that I recognized looked so old. Chris Candido was never my favorite wrestler, but it was the first time I saw him in a long time. It was sad, really.

Things that annoy the shit out of you

Having to act, or look, a certain way in order to like a band. In high school, the "real" heavy metal fans used to hate me because I was nothing like them. I didn't have tattoos, didn't smoke, didn't use drugs, didn't have long hair, etc. and yet someone I wasn't worthy of listening to metal bands. Seeing as how rap was popular in the late 90's, and metal wasn't as big, it's not like I was listening to it to fit in or anything. I don't know, the whole thing just bothered me. It's like I needed permission from these people to buy albums and t-shirts with my hard earned money.

    I think my printer's busted.

Avoid Dell printers at all cost. The only method of getting ink for their machines is through them directly. That is extremely annoying. Trust me, I worked at Staples and people were constantly in the store looking for ink for a last minute project. As far as your problem, don't bother fixing it. Even having someone look at it would probably not be worth it. Printers are quite cheap now. In fact, new ink for your printer probably costs about as much as a new ink jet. I'd look into getting a new one. The question then becomes, do you need color or not? If you don't want color, there are some inexpensive black & white lasers. Color lasers have come down in price but are still a few hundred bucks. As for ink jets, they range in price. You can get the all-in-one machines that are useful. Regardless, I'd always go for an HP; they are the best. I've used Lexmark, Canon, Epson and they aren't bad, but HP is the king. That's about all I have to say, hope it helps.

    Super Bowl XXXIX discussion thread

I hope both teams are enjoying their time before the Superbowl, even though I feel it can't come soon enough. All the questions, debates, arguements that will come up from now until Feb. 6th are meaningless when the game actually starts. I'm an Eagles fan, so I want them to win. If they lose, I won't be shocked; the Patriots are a great team. But, there are so many variable to take into account. What if Brady or McNabb gets injured on their first series and are out of the game due to a serious injury? Sure, it's the Superbowl and people will do anything to win it, but anything can happen. I'm just glad that the two teams made it that did. If the Eagles don't win, I feel confident that they'll at least make the game worth watching. Sometimes it's important to remember that the NFL is in the entertainment industry. This is supposed to be fun, right?

    TNA is depressing

Yeah, I agree. From what I can tell, there is/has been potential for this company with promoting younger stars. It happens to an extent, but not completely. And to think of all the "old" wrestlers WCW used who STILL end up on TNA. They were old then and now they're putting themselves at risk by even taking a bump. I realize Shawn Michaels somehow recovered from his back injury, but since when were Nash, DDP, etc healthy?

    Super Bowl XXXIX discussion thread

Aside from the fact that I've been an Eagles fan my entire life, I still pick them to win. People can debate facts and numbers all they want, but I think it comes down to more than that. On ESPN.com they're calling it "Dynasty vs. Destiny". I'll take destiny anyday. Reason being, the Eagles are hungry; they WANT this victory in the worst way. They have guys taking paycuts, veterans becoming backups, and they play like a team. As far as I can tell, everyone assumes the Patriots will win because it's "business as usual." Don't get me wrong, they're a fine team, but I see the Eagles having more desire at this point. Also, them getting to the Superbowl gives them a degree of momentum, in my view.

    What if

Disagree with me all you like, but there's no practical reason why WCW shouldn't currently exist. So they had a hard time getting a TV deal, couldn't get the big names to void their contracts, etc...Big deal! They rushed the whole thing FAR too quickly. Vince may have a big ego, but this was a guaranteed "money in the bank" storyline. Obviously, WCW was a tainted name (largely in part to WWE telling their fans that WCW sucked), but they should have waited a few months to get some of that bad taste out of everyone's mouth. Then, once they were more prepared, they could start rebuilding the name with video packages highlighting the postives of WCW, get Flair out there giving a speech, etc. It could have worked, and it SHOULD have.

    WWE-sponored ECW pay-per-view questions

The one thing that worries me is that the event will feel like the Booker T/Buff Bagwell main event that Vince tried to present as an actual WCW match. If this happens, they'll be lucky Booker/Buff was only one match instead of an entire PPV. I'm not trying to compare the two, per se, I'm just saying that it had better not be one of those deals were they wave the company banner, present video packages, and tell us what is going on. For this to have any chance, they have to keep it simple. Also, even if it is "one night only", I'd expect something creative seeing as how there is quite the buzz surrounding this and nothing official has been announced. Here's to hoping that something was learned from the Invasion. In addition, I agree with the poster who mentioned the in-ring style. As previously mentioned, Vince has to know he's dealing with a risky crowd. If he does anything that the crowd doesn't want, the fans will react to it. I'm curious to see if someone like RVD, who supposedly suggested the idea in the first place, would try any moves that he normally wouldn't be able to do due to the "WWE style". Finally, I think of all the people that may be apart of the event, Joey Styles is second only to Paul Heyman in terms of people who NEED to be involved.
  17. I read this forum, on occassion, to check out the latest news. This possible ECW has me curious... Will Vince come out and just sorta announce it? Will Heyman be involved in this? So, Sandman turned it down, any idea who else may or may not be involved? Okay, so I suppose I could continue writing more questions, but I'm wondering what is actually known of this potential show. I'm intriged by this idea, but my gut feeling tells me it will disappoint. Any information or comments would be appreciated. Thanks

EMO music: love it, hate it?

I don't even understand the label "emo". Isn't all music, in some fashion, emotional?

Your "band to watch in 2005"

Although they've had a good amount of success thus far, I think Breaking Benjamin is EXTREMELY close to hitting it big time.

Name the most average band you've ever heard

After reading this entire tread, I am amazed by how critical most people are on here. Tough crowd, geez. No one mentions bands such as: Vertical Horizon, Papa Roach, Drowning Pool, Candlebox, the list goes on and on. And yet we have: Van Halen, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Kiss, etc. named on this list? Unreal.

    Terrell Owens

Whatever works, my point is that they worked hard for home field advantage so the fans need to come out supportive.

    Terrell Owens

I still feel that this year has some magic left. Still, the team needs the fans to be supportive. When the playoffs begin, the Linc had better be rocking. Bust out Eye of the Tiger and the Rocky theme, get TO on camera giving a pep talk, and give the team a chance to play. I will say this, I'm surprised no one in the media, or anywhere, has commented on how well TO is handling this situation. He's beginning to look like a real leader. DESTINY

    Terrell Owens

At this point, they have to consider giving Blake/Detmer some significant playing time against the Rams and Bengals. They need McNabb more than anyone right now. As a lifelong Eagles fan, this hurts. But, like Al said, it's not over yet. Westbrook can be effective running and catching out of the backfield. Pinkston better get ready to take a hit and this is Mitchell's time to step up.
