If "greatest" has recently become synonymous with most over-rated, over-glorified, under-talented piece of shit in history, then yeah, Pac is the greatest.

He's an above average rapper who is now worshipped because he is dead.  The exact same thing happens to everyone who dies young.  See: Owen Hart, Aaliyah, Kurt Cobain.  All horribly overrated.

hes the greatest

I have to disagree.  I never really thought 2Pac was that good.  He had some okay songs and everything, but everyone calls him the greatest rapper ever, which he just isn't.  There are SO MANY better than him...Wu-Tang, Tribe Called Quest, Nas, Biggie, and tons and tons of underground rappers.

Biggie was a lot better than Tupac. I think Tupac knew this and tried to initiate a rivalry because of it. I still here some of Biggie's lyrics and say, "damn, how does he come up with this stuff?" Tupac was a good rapper, but he was not a great one in my opinion. I don't like the fact that people try to emulate the "thug life" mentality he crowed about all the time. That stuff sickens me because everyone is talking about how they are thugs and everything. Why not have greaer aspirations? How about claming to be something other than the lowest criminal on the totem pole? People have such fond memories of Pac because he is deceased, but I guarantee people would be sick of him if he were still alive. The man would talk about how much of a thug he was and all this other stuff in one breath, and then he would try to act like he was a deep, spiritual philospher that was about peace and the improvement of the human race. I'm not denying the fact that I have listened to and liked some of his stuff, but the guy was a bullshit artist that people were conned by plain and simple. As an afterthought, why are the Outlaws still trying to rap along with lyrics that Tupac wrote in the early-mid nineties?

Calling an artist/athlete/etc. the "greatest" is so subjective. Instead of using the "greatest" label I divide people/movies/TV shows/etc. into tiers. "A" tier, "B" tier, etc.

Having grown up listenting to 2Pacalpyse Now (sp) and Strictly 4 my Brethren, among other albums, I have to say that in the rap world 2Pac was a definite A-list performer.

2pac, while decent is only Idolized because of his death and every one knows that. It's unfourtante how a Legend like Elvis Pressley, whom died well past his prime never gets credit for being a legend, while a Standard, Bland, "THUG", boring, pretentious air headed rapper get acclaim.

Heh ... I've always thought the same thing.

I'd say Elvis is generally considered more of a music legend than Tupac Shakur.

How can you say Elvis isn't recognized as a legend? Nearly everyone in this country alone has heard of Elvis and probably knows a couple songs at the very least, which is more than you can say for Tupac.
