What was your first concert

Recommended Posts

Guest O.J. Hart

Mine was a local radio concert last fall with Bare Naked Ladies, Smash Mouth, LFO, 5 for Fighting, O-Town, Jessica Simpson, and Willa Ford. I was recently a a charity concert at my school with tenacious D and a local band from my high school. Also, I've been to Macy Gray at the auditorium down at the college near my house. My dad tok me to see the beach boys a few years ago(but the only originals were Mike Love an Bruce Johnston, but the replacements were freakin tight), but that doesnt count, it was with my dad and with no friends.

WAAF Holiday Rage 2000

BANDS (openers to headliners):

Boiler Room, Staind, Sevendust, Megadeth

Sevendust and Megadeth were the only worthwhile ones, as this was STAIND we're talking about. Sevendust put on the best live show out of any of the newer hard rock bands EASILY.

I haven't been to many concerts but my first was back in like 88 or 89 with my brothers. Run DMC, LL Cool J, Public Enemy and some others were performing that night.

I saw Michael Jackson with my cousins when I was like 7.... and I think I saw the Beach Boys too. My first real concert with friends was the 97 or 98 Horde tour... headlined by Blues Traveler, it had Barenaked Ladies, Ben Harper, and Paula Cole.

I never realized how young this forum was until now.

My first four concerts:

Weird Al Yankovic - the "In 3-D" tour

Monkees (reunion tour) - Weird Al opens! Yesss!

Tom Petty w/the Replacements - this was way after the Mats' glory days; Petty blew 'em off the stage.

R.E.M. w/ Throwing Muses - the Green tour, great show, probably the last time I liked R.E.M.  -_- ^_^

November 1998- Rob Zombie, Fear Factory, and some other smaller band that I forgot. During Rob's song, he brought 15 chicks on stage and they all took off their shirts. The stage looked awesome. There was a huge screen behind him that showed clips of Night of the Living Dead and some other random stuff and fire and bones and shit like that. That was also the first time I smoked weed. Good times.

As much as I enjoy music, I've only been to two concerts, the first of which was the B.B. King Blues Fest 2000 on 08 (I think) August 2000, and the second of which was Green Day & The Living End a year (to the date) later. Hmmmm... wonder what concert I'll go to this year? ;)

I've only been to one concert so far, and it was my friend's band, Drunken Disturbance. They were pimp. But they got kicked out midway through their fourth song for the lyric "I got AIDS cuz my grandpa fucked me up the ass"

Love,

Sebastian the Bastard

De La Soul w/ A Tribe Called Quest:

It was probably nine or ten years ago (maybe even longer) at the very tail-end of the Native Tongues period. I won the tickets from a local urban radio station and got an older cousin to take me. De La never played, however, because Posdnuos broke his leg during soundcheck.

Fishbone, February of '94. Opening acts were Green Apple Quick Step and NOFX. One month later, Green Day broke out big time on MTV, and punk was reborn. These days, NOFX is way bigger than Fishbone.

By the way, the 'bone also holds the distinction of being the band I've seen the most times, with a whopping four live shows seen by me. They rarely could capture their manic energy on record, but they were/are fucking incredible live.

The first concert I ever went to was The Steve Miller Band with mym parents when I was around 16 or 17. Since then I have seen Summer Sanitarium in Baltimore which was a great show and great atmosphere for the time I was there (I left after Kid Rock to meet up with my ex), Kid Rock on one of his headlining tours (Dope and David Allen Coe were the opening acts, so that was pretty entertaining, and the Kid always delivers the goods live) and mastly I saw Staind around a year ago. I wasn't even a particularly big fan of theirs, but moshing is always fun, and it was just a high energy show.

I just remembered that Fishbone WAS NOT the first live show I ever saw--it was Debbie Gibson. Can I be blamed for forgetting?

October of 1999 Weird Al Yankovic Running With Scissors tour, opening act for some odd reason was a really bad female folk singer(They probably should have hired a local stand up comic or something). Weird Al made up for it of course :D

Theyre one of the best live bands Ive ever seen....got to see the dust again a couple of weeks ago in the 100 degree heat....another good concert but i was near dead from the Nonpoint mosh before them.
