Your Five Favorite Anything

Recommended Posts

Inspired by the New Pornographers chat, the top five NP songs featuring Neko Case's lead vocals:

1. Mass Romantic

2. To Wild Homes

3. The Bleeding Heart Show

4. Letter From An Occupant

5.

Hmm. I can't really think of any outside of those four that I'm nuts for. I suppose I could slot Bones Of An Idol in there, even though it's not really that great.

Point, but her voice is the most prominent (to my ears, anyways).

Besides, without it, my already paltry list would be diminished further.

Anyways,

Top five as of late:

Echo & The Bunnymen - Nocturnal Me

The Replacements - Unsatisfied

Blackalicious - Blazing Arrow

13th Floor Elevators - Baby Blue

Morrissey - The Last Of The Famous International Playboys

4. beatles - "i want you (she's so heavy)"

i'm not the biggest fan of "sister ray," but that organ is killer. and you could probably stick any animals song in at number 3.

5 bands that have changed styles in the last decade to poor response from hardcore fans:

5. The Haunted (from Gothenburg-esque death/thrash to...whatever the fuck Dead Eye was)

4. Shadows Fall (from straightforward melodic death metal with a hardcore edge to pop-ish, poorly done pseudo-thrash)

3. Metallica (from the Alternica days to...whatever the motherfuck St. Anger was supposed to be)

2. AFI (from the "kings" of pop-ish hardcore punk to "just another emo band," even if they're still listenable)

1. In Flames (the kings of Gothenburg...to KoRn with solo's)
