Will anyone ever win two KOTRs?

Recommended Posts

angle came close when he lost in the finals to edge in 2001.

personally i think they save that spot for who they consider their next big star so i doubt and established star would win.

I'm suprised Austin didn't wind up doing it. He won the Royal Rumble what..three times? heh. People talk about Trips being bad..

(WWE logic moment: Lesnar will repeat next year)

Bret Hart already has. He won in 1991 and again in 1993. Actually he won them back-to-back as there was no KOTR in 1992.

I don't think they'll have somebody repeat, since the whole idea of the King of the Ring is to make a new star. The only person who might benefit from a 2nd King of the Ring win is Billy Gunn...

After the debacle in 99, I don't see them giving Billy Gunn another King of the Ring.

I definitely believe that Angle is ABOVE the KOTR now....and should win the Rumble next year...

Yes, this is true, but we are talking about the KOTR as we know it on PPV being the "stepping stone" for guys. You know what I mean...

...but no, I don't think we'll ever see it, and if we DO I'll be one pissed off fan.

No shit. I was being sarcastic. I was saying that most Kings of the Ring don't need to repeat because they eventually become superstars. Billy never became anything other than a mid-card tag wrestler, so he is the only active KOR that could benefit from another one. Austin, HHH, Kurt Angle and Edge are already superstars.

I hope Angle is around to win next year's Royal Rumble.

I nominate Kurt Angle for Royal Rumble winner of 2003. If he decides to run off to the Olympics, then I nominate Booker T damnit.

Back on topic, No I doubt there will be someone who will win the King of the Ring twice. The way they're pushing Brock, he wont need one by next year. Bret, Austin, Triple H, and Angle have all benefitted from their KOTR wins and became huge stars. I don't think the WWE will bring back Mabel to have him win again (Although the way this year looks like 95, don't be suprised)........

I nominate a face. If Angle's a face, so be it. There should be some sort of chase in the WrestleMania title match.

Ideally, anyone who wins KOTR shouldn't have to be in another tournament, since they should be a main eventer by that point. I think the only reasons they put Angle in last year's KOTR was the whole "Edge and Christian and Friends" semifinals (Edge, Christian, Rhyno, and Kurt) and to add drama to the Street Fight with Shane McMahon, as it would be Angle's third match of the night.

Edge could have been in the tourney this year, though, since he hadn't made The Leap yet into main event status.

People said the nWo would never be back. They said Hogan would never be back. They said Russo would never be back.

Stranger things have happened.

MUCH stranger...
