Guest Kid Kablam Report post Posted July 4, 2002 Ok, there was a long period of time where I just didn't watch. I have a feeling it had something to do with the Kliq, but I'm not sure.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted July 4, 2002 Here's the nitty gritty. The Nitro after Starrcade 98(the one where Goldturd was screwed by Hall against Nash) promoted a rematch because Nash felt wrong about when Hall did to Goldturd during the match. On the same night, Goldturd was arrested by the Atlanta police because he was "stalking" Elizabeth and while he was being escorted out, they ran into Hollywood Hogan who had "retired" a few weeks ago. Goldturd is held over at the police station practically all night and back at the arena, Nash gets pissed because he had asked for a rematch against Goldturd to "make things right". Hollywood Hogan is then accused by Nash as being behind the arrest of Goldturd and is challenged to a match for the WCW Title by Nash. Goldturd is eventually released as the main event is preparing to start. Hogan and Nash circle each other a couple of times and Hogan takes one finger and pokes Nash in the chest. Nash falls down like he was shot and Hogan covers for the pin and becomes the NEW WCW Heavyweight Champion, pissing off millions of fans. Goldturd makes it back to arena just in time to see Hogan and Nash hug and laugh and then jumps in the ring to beat them down. Out from the back comes Scott Hall, but he gets beat down too. Then Luger comes out(still wearing the Wolfpac NWO shirt) and turns on Goldturd and joins the "elite NWO". Buff Bagwell and Scott Steiner also wander out and join in as they spraypaint Goldturd and leave him laying. And so you have it.
Guest Big McLargeHuge Report post Posted July 4, 2002 Ok, I was out of the country at the time and didn't reutrn until a few days after it happened, but I think I know what went down. - Kevin Nash was head booker of WCW at the time. He booked himself to beat Goldberg for the World title thus ending his streak. He did, with a little help from Scott Hall and a cattle prod. - On an episode of Nitro just weeks(?) later, Hogan came out of retirement (he had been 'running' for president) to challenge Nash for the title. - The match started with a staredown and ended when Hogan poked Nash in the chest (Fingerpoke of Dooooom!) seconds later. Nash went down like a ton of bricks, Hogan got the pin and the title as it was revealed it was a swerve and they had planned the whole thing. I think I covered most of it. Please feel free to correct me.

Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 5, 2002 It didn't happen night after Starrcade. Night after Starrcade Macho Man came back and Flair won the Presidency. Two weeks after Starrcade the match occured and FPOD went down
Guest LesnarLunatic Report post Posted July 5, 2002 the story they told about the fingerpoke was fuckin' hiliarious though. About Hogan going to Nepal to train that move and all sorts of stuff.
Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Report post Posted July 5, 2002 It happened the same night Foley won the title for the first time. I remember Tony Schivone (sp?) saying something to the extent of "Don't watch that other federation. Their show is taped and they have Cactus Jack winning their big belt tonight. Stay tuned into Nitro where we're live and anything can happen!!!" Personally, I chose raw that night BECAUSE Foley was winning the title and watched a tape of the FPOD the next day. Guest DARRYLXWF Report post Posted July 5, 2002 Some of the vignettes of Nash and Hogan boasting about the FPOD were hilarious.

Guest DrEvil Report post Posted July 5, 2002 Personally, I chose raw that night BECAUSE Foley was winning the title and watched a tape of the FPOD the next day. Yeah, you and something like 10 million other viewers. I totally forgot that Tony made that comment the night of the FPOD, the word dumbass comes to mind. Could that be worst timing ever? That night was when I stopped being interested in WCW. The nWo had run it's course and was stale as year old bread, plus I was totally sick of seeing Hogan. Then they made the split to the face-ish Wolfpak, Steiner took over as leader of a heel B&W nWo, and Hogan was gone. It was actually interesting again because it looked like they were going in a new direction, whether it would have worked or not is another argument, but I wanted to see what would happen. Then came the FPOD and not only did it go back to the old nWo, it also split it into elite heel nWo, and jobber heel nWo, killing all remaining credibility of the group and the angle. The only funny thing from the entire fiasco was Nash's selling of it (he doesn't sell a chair shot that well), and his explanation of the injuries the following week. I also liked when Hogan and Nash were dueling for Torrie Wilson's affections. Hogan talking about how it was real, and Nash taking a what the fuck do you think dumbass approach.
