Guest caboose Posted July 5, 2002 Report Posted July 5, 2002 These treads are getting a bit redundant.
Guest Shaved Bear Posted July 5, 2002 Report Posted July 5, 2002 i never buy vhs, i just taped everything
Guest C.H.U.D. Posted July 5, 2002 Report Posted July 5, 2002 I got rid of most of my VHS collection when I started collecting DVD. VHS is on the edge of death anyway. When recordable DVD becomes affordable, it will be the final nail in the coffin.
Guest jimmy no nose Posted July 5, 2002 Report Posted July 5, 2002 I have like 300 VHS movies from 5-10 years ago. I stopped buying them and started renting and copying them after that. Too many to list.
Guest Karnage Posted July 5, 2002 Report Posted July 5, 2002 The thing about recordable DVD is that piracy will be on the rise.
Guest Kingpk Posted July 5, 2002 Report Posted July 5, 2002 If there was a place where I could trade my VHS movies for the DVD version, I'd be there in a second. The only thing on VHS I watch anymore is my MST3K collection.
Guest Bosstones Fan Posted July 5, 2002 Report Posted July 5, 2002 VHS is on the edge of death anyway. When recordable DVD becomes affordable, it will be the final nail in the coffin. I agree with that point, though I think VHS has at least three years left. The high price of recordable DVD is the biggest reason why I haven't "upgraded" to DVD yet. Well, that and I don't see any point to paying twice the price to buy the DVD version of a movie when I can rent/buy the VHS version and watch the same movie for half price (or less). Being someone who watches movies simply to watch the movie, enjoy it, and go on with my life, I don't particularly care about being able to watch "behind the scenes" features or recreate the movie theater setting in my own living room with the improved video/sound quality DVD offers (though I do admit that it can be VERY impressive). So until recordable DVD is affordable and I can transfer the 60 or so VHS movies I have in my collection to DVD, I'll just hold on to my VHS tapes (and my money), thank you.
