Guest MrRant Report post Posted July 6, 2002 Now that Cartoon Network is showing GI Joe, I have a feeling that we will finally see a DVD box set like Transformers. What I want to know is why doesn't Cartoon Network jump on He-Man as well? That shit would bring in a lot of cash. Especially the DVD's since people pay big bucks for old figures on EBay etc. The Transformers box set is almost always sold out at my Best Buy. By the way... why don't they hook up with the Transformers as well? Bring it all back at least maybe on Boomerang.

Guest MrRant Report post Posted July 6, 2002 He man = some sort of legal problems with the rights to show it keeps it off cartoon network. GODDAMMIT. Pay the money. I wonder what could hold it up? Does Mattel have rights or something?
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted July 6, 2002 I THINK the problem is that the rights aren't held by one company and/or person. I also think that's what held the spiderman movie back from being made as long as it was.
Guest Karnage Report post Posted July 6, 2002 I don't think theres any video distributor for He-Man. GI Joe and Transformers has Rhino, so theres a good chance that a GI Joe Season One box set will come out.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted July 6, 2002 Isn't there a new He-Man show coming out on Cartoon Network this Fall?
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted July 6, 2002 Every once in a great while I'll dig out my He Man movie, the one with the origin of She-Ra and I still enjoy it. Thudercats is another that needs to be released on DVD. Is it still on CN?
Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted July 6, 2002 There are SO MANY great cartoon shows than need to be on DVD. M.A.S.K. anyone?
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted July 7, 2002 I THINK the problem is that the rights aren't held by one company and/or person. I think that's what's kept Chopping Mall out of print and off DVD (sorry for bringing it in, it's off topic but "He-Man" isn't the only '80s relic with legal woes... what, did copyright lawyers just not understand what they were doing in the '80s?). As for cartoons, I second a "Thundercats" DVD release. As for it still being on CN, I haven't seen it in a while, but I was never big on "Toonami" anyway as it became more and more focused around "Dragon Ball Z", which I never liked. They probably moved "Thundercats" to Boomerang (which I don't get! ). I also wouldn't mind seeing "Jabber Jaw" (funny how I hate "Scooby Doo" but enjoy this "Scooby Doo" rip-off) and the animated "Godzilla" series on DVD, even though Godzuki could get annoying. Perhaps, as DVD-R technology becomes more available, people will start trading this stuff over the internet. I'm sure if you looked in the right newsgroup right now you could trade for lots of old shows on VHS. I'm just too lazy, and growing somewhat weary of VHS to do it. Guest MrRant Report post Posted July 7, 2002 Look on EBAY. You can get all the episodes of He-Man on VCD for like $50 bucks. Also Transformers and all kinds of stuff.
Guest Mark4steamboat Report post Posted July 7, 2002 when i was looking on ebay a while back, someone said that he-man wouldnt debut on cartoon network until 2003 or 2004. Of course they might have just said that to get ppl to buy the damn vcd. i think thundercats is still on but they might have taken it off for Hamtaro. thundercats was one of my faves too. Guest Vyce Report post Posted July 7, 2002 As far as the G.I. Joe news goes, check out http://www.yojoe.com . They have news & links to tons of other websites devoted to all things Joe. I'm pretty sure that Transformers DVDs are already available, and a G.I. Joe one is in the works. I would confirm this, but I'm too lazy. Best bet is to check out the link. Guest MrRant Report post Posted July 7, 2002 I'm aware of the DVD set for Transformers... I am talking about having the Transformers on Cartoon Network.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted July 7, 2002 There's a Thundercats comic book coming out soon. It takes place after the show ended. M.A.S.K. anyone? That's taking it back right there. I haven't seen that show for like 12 - 15 years. Didn't the little kids vehicle look kind of like a garbage can? I don't know why, but that's stuck in my mind for some reason. Guest Some Guy Report post Posted July 7, 2002 M.A.S.K was wicked cool and the toys kicked ass. Thundercats was on CN at 3:00 pm EST a few years ago, but I almost never got to watch it because of work. Maybe it's still on then, I don't know what Toonammi is. "Toonami" is the 3pm-6pm line-up on Cartoon Network that had "Thundercats", "Silverhawks", "Tenchi Muyo", and "Dragon Ball Z". I got to catch the last half of "Thundercats" a lot after school, and stayed tuned for "Silverhawks" (which my friends and I really liked for some reason, even though it wasn't that great of a show), but cut out for the anime. I actually liked the characters in "Tenchi Muyo", but apparently there are several different series' with them and CN switched around a lot so I couldn't follow it.
