Now why couldn't they do that match at KotR

Recommended Posts

Guest Anglesault

I just watched the Cruiserweight title match between Jamie Knoble and Hurricane tonight on velocity, and it was quite good. However, their KotR match blew. So, is there a reason why they couldn't put on a good match for the PPV? Were they not used to working with each other? Unmotivated for some reason?

I didn't see their KotR match, but that Velocity match was decent. A nice mix of high spots from Hurricane and psychology from (K)noble. I don't know about the PPV, though. Some people have nights where they just aren't feelin' it.

Exactly! Especially when the KotR consisted of missed punches, weak kicks and absurd rest holds. This match blew that one away.

Maybe they'll get another big match before Rey comes back to win the title.

they could had added the whole On Leg Psychology into the match, added with the KOTR flying portions.

Kinda funny Cole was sitting there Shilling about the Rock during a great match and Al Snow gets interupted Reporting the Tope Con Hilo Hurricane did on Noble

What KotR high flying portions? the match was ALL punches and rest holds, (With me screaming at the TV "Why the hell are they resting, they haven't done anything!") leading up to a top rope neck breaker and a powerbomb finish.

Ugh, you get pissy that it's all top pope "flippy-flippy bullshit," and when they try to do some thing else, what do you do, get pissy.

Agreed, the match tonight was a lot better than the KOTR one, although Hurricane's leg healing enough in 4 seconds for him to pull off a picture perfect tope con PescadoMexicanthing, was sort of annoying. Oh fuck it, it was a good match. No spinebusters, no neckbreakers, no sleeper holds = Brief satisfaction

Actually, there was two neckbreakers and a powerslam, and the leg psychology of the match got absolutely no response from the crowd. People are stupid, really stupid.

You're right, there indeed was 2 neckbreakers, but they don't count, they had at least some coolness points. What with them being the leaping one and the blockbuster by Hurricane. But yeah, sadly the crowd didn't care.

Hurricane has worked with Jamie Knoble on a shitload of occasions in WCW. Remeber 3 count vs. The Young Dragons?

Anyways, the KOTR match would have been better if the Hurricane were allowed to use the Vertabraker and the X-plex (both victims of the Glass Celing ^_^ tm) and Knoble were allowed to use his Tombstone.

Oh who cares, Rey will kick all the cruiserweights asses when he gets there...

I personally loved the match. It just seemed old school to me, back when I was in to wrestling but was too stuck up to admit back in the early 90's. I like Noble as a worker going back to his 3 Count days near the death of WCW, but he's over as a heel to me. It hard to like a worker but think of him as someone I went to see to lose, but thats the case. I give Noble a lot of credit for that stuck in a Trailer Trash gimmic. I just wish Velocity wasn't on a night where I'd reather be out than watching Wrasslin'.

Umm...to me, it looks like YOU'RE the only one getting pissy here.

Hey, I agree that the match was much better than the PPV offering... and thanks to everyone for naming the Tope Con Helo for me, as I had no idea what the move was, and now I can call it by its right name in my recap! :)

By the way, not to nitpick, but Hurricane should've sold the leg a LOT better... he kinda forgot about it during his momentum/onslaught/comeback.

Only a mark with the screen name "Anglesault" could talk about "weak punches" in a match when his favorite wrestler is Kurt Angle...

He's banned from using the X-Plex???

Tim's back.

Anyways, if you want to know why their King of the Ring match was bad, look at who else was on the card. Triple H, Undertaker, Hogan.

I'm just shocked Anglesault referred to a Cruiser match as "quite good".

I've also said that Dean/Scotty at Backlash was great.

And Angle has good punches.

Maybe the WWE told them to dog it in the King of the Ring match, lest they upstage the DUDerific main event or something.

Don't worry... when they ban the Sugar Smack, then we'll be in trouble

Which move is the X-Plex?

"And Angle has good punches."

Maybe your perception of good punches, but he whiffs a hell of alot. Looks like the Rock.

I really haven't noticed that. I always thought that he had some good stiff looking punches. Maybe I never caught on to it because the guy he was fighting could at lest return a good punch.

Guest Smell the ratings!!!

not that this has anything to do with the thread, but Angle and Rock have oddly similar punches as far as I can tell.

anyway, the Velocity match was what the KOTR match should have been (you know... a cruiser match?) God only knows why they do high spots on the syndicated show and chinlocks on PPV.

*insert shitty main event conspiracy theory here*
