Worst PPV EVER?

Recommended Posts

Guest HartFan86

WWF: Tough Call...some of the 1995 stuff was just terrible, so I really can't make a vote on this one.

WCW: Great American Bash 1991...haven't seen it...don't want too.

ECW: I haven't followed them enough to make one of their PPV's the worst. Barely Legal wasn't very good...and some of the stuff they didn't before they shutdown was shit.

People remember it fondly these days for some reason, but my vote's for WrestleMania IV. Bear in mind that I haven't seen GAB 91...

And yes, I did see WMIX, and while it sucked, I still find it underrated. And I don't give KOR 95 the nod because the first round didn't totally suck.

I will go with Bash 91. This is truly hideous and kind of funny because it is so bad.

Btw what is wrong with Beware of Dog part 1. It had a good opener and a good Bulldog/Michaels match.

I gotta admit that GAB 91, belongs in the "Its so bad that its good category". I saw this show live and i thought it was just atrocious, but after a couple of more views, I got a kick out of it. Seeing alot of todays stars in really really bad gimmicks is funny. Hearing the crowd almost drown out Jim Ross with "We want Flair" chants, and seeing Lex Luger hold up a "World title" belt that was obviously another belt with a metal plate hammered on it that says World Champ, is all priceless. If you havent seen it, i reccomend it not for the wrestling, but for the enjoyment of the utter cheesyness and total disaster this show is.

My vote for worst ppv of all times has got to be In Your House 4. The Deisel/Davey Boy Smith match was a total snoozer and any ppv with Mable vs. Yokozuna on it cant be good.

I enjoyed KOTR 95 because I was there live and it was my 1st WWF PPV. Aside from Chyna/Jericho, I HATED Survivor Series 99. I've never been more bored watching a PPV in my life.

BTW, Beware of Dog 1 was the one where the Power went out, so I can see how that would qualify.

You could use your fingers and toes to count the number of PPVs I've seen, but if I had to pick the worst of the bunch, I'd go with Royal Rumble '97. The best match on it, scoring only ***, was Sid-HBK. Everything else ranged from mediocre (the Rumble match) to flat-out, unbearably horrible (HHH-Goldust).

The crap was even deeper in Royal Rumble '92, but the ***** main event more than made up for it.

It may not be the worst EVER, but I feel that this years Backlash deserves a mention in the shitty PPV list.

if memory serves me right, backlash had eddy-rvd, edge-angle and tajiri-kidman so i don't see that as a horrible ppv.

i can't comment on ppv's i haven't seen so i can't claim KOR'95 or Bash '91 as the worst. From what I've seen, I think fall brawl 98 and WW3 98 are far and away the biggest insults to my intelligence I have ever witnessed. This year's King of the Ring was so depressing and poorly-booked that it has turned me away from the wwe product so it ranks right up there even though i enjoyed the hell out of jericho-rvd.

With #1 being the worst.....

1. Starrcade 94

Hogan and Beefcake in the main event. Kevin Sullivan vs. Mr. T? Every, from top to bottom, was horrible...

2. Uncensored 95

Blacktop Bully vs. Dustin Rhodes in the back of an 18 wheeler. Meng vs. Hacksaw Duggan in a martial arts match. A disqualification on a PPV that is supposedly no holds barred. Hogan drags Ric Flair to all 4 corners in the main event instead of Vader. Maybe this should be at least tied for #1...

3. KOTR 95

Mabel is KOTR. Enough said. Actually, not enough said. Diesel & Bam Bam vs. Sid & Tatanka was the main event.

Survivor Series 99 was pretty boring.Sitting in the stands enduring it made it worse. The above mentioned Chyna/Jericho match was pretty much the only one on the show that had any kind of drama to it.I was nodding off throughout the show.

SSeries 1990 had some decent wrestling, only memorable bad shit was the jobber series match captained by Nikolai Volkoff & Sgt. Slaughter. <dont mention you know what>

wcw: new blood rising (with the goldberg/russo worked shoot taking place, moronic tag title changes, and lance storm looking weaker than ever this PPV it gets my vote. and it even took place in my home province of bc. plus it had tank abbot with nipple holes cut out of his shirt.)

ecw: anarchy rulz 1999 (the three way title match was good enough but the main event was a major letdown and none of the other matches impressed me)

wwf: survivor series 1997 (anyone who knows anything about me know why)

WWE: King Of The Ring 2002

The only time I have fallen asleep TWICE!! during a PPV. It was complete crap with the worst main event of the year if not ever!

WCW: Bash At The Beach 1999

Only the Bigelow/Kanyon/Page vs. Benoit/Saturn match is worth watching the rest of the show is a parade of shite! Rick Steiner vs. Van Hammer, David Flair over Dean Malenko!, the Junkjard Hardcore Match, Buff vs. Piper in a boxing match (and Buff gets the win by pinning Piper), and of the course the ultra crappy main event which set up yet another WCW Championship win for Hogan the next night on Nitro.

As for ECW I've only seen a few of their PPV's and liked them all.

smartass. anyway that ppv really sticks out in my mind as a chance to see the vince mcmahon and wwf at their all time worst. everytime they show the footage of the incident it just makes vince, hebner, and michaels all look like bigger pieces of shit then they all ready are.

First off I didn't think KOTR 2K2 wasn't that bad, was it great hell no! But it kept me occupied for three hours and I didn't fall asleep(Well I did have four cans of Mountain Dew Code Red before the show so that wouldn't happen).

The worst PPV of all time however is probably Heroes of Wrestling, but I think this PPV is so bad it's good and I pop it in from time to time just to watch these guys ruin what was left of there careers in North America.

Ok first of all, here are a few guidelines I use for determining this sort of thing.

1. The worst PPV ever can't have anything at all that resembles a decent match. This would eliminate a lot of stuff, even my knee jerk pick of Fall Brawl 98 (it had a decent Raven/Saturn match).

2. It has to be a REAL PPV, not lame shit like Heroes of Wrestling or the WWA, I Generation.

3. The worst PPV ever can't have any sort of entertainment value of any kind. No funny backstage skits or interviews, and it can't even be so bad it's good (Uncensored 95 is eliminated).

4. Eliminate things that were caused by disasters, backstage politics, or injury plagued fiascos that couldn't be helped (gone are Beware of Dog, Souled Out 2000, GAB 91).

Now, using this criteria I will now say what is the worst PPV I have ever seen. This PPV could not be excused in any way. There isn't a decent match on it, not a funny interview, and it was a major PPV.

Uncensored 2000. It had the lowest buyrate in WCW history, it came during the dreadful Kevin Sullivan early 2000 era, it had nothing at all redeeming on it. Anyone want to defend this show?

And by the way WM 4 is one of my favorite shows, mainly due to childhood nostalgia.

I'd like to defend Uncensored 2000 not because I like it just because there is a PPV worse then it(Even considering your guidelines). Your honor I present to you Halloween Havoc 2000, the difference between the two is nothing on Uncensored 2000 had the potential to be really great I mean with a double main event Sid-Jeff Jarrett and Hulk Hogan-Ric Flair strap do you really expect something good or even decent. Halloween Havoc 2000 was looked forward to by the few fans that were still watching WCW, it had Sting-Jeff Jarrett, Booker T- Big Poppa Pump and Mike Awesome-Vampiro.

Well when all twelve people tuned in and ordered this PPV they saw out of the three matches above two ended in screw jobs and one that ended up having more missing spots then a albino dalmatian(stole that one from RD Reynolds). Second off this featured such beloved "matches" such as the DNA match between David Flair and Buff Bagwell, the mixed tag team scaffold match and the PPV was main evented by a handicap match between Kronic and Goldberg.

Now someone try and tell me that Uncensored 2000 was worse then Halloween Havoc 2000 after I made these points

I can sum it up like this. Halloween Havoc 2000 was surreal in its badness. I mean it was really bizarre. You had Awesome and Vampiro fucking up everything they did. You had 10 Stings attacking the real Sting (echoes of Black Scorpion?), a lot of it was crackhead booking. Halloween Havoc is a PPV that can at least be laughed at, which qualifies as having some value.

Surely that was a joke about Hogan/Flair strap match and Sid/Jarrett being good on paper? Uncensored 2000 was a lame duck show that finished off Kevin Sullivan for good as a booker. The direction WCW was going in was so horrible that Bischoff and Russo literally just stripped everyone of their titles the next month.

If Al Greene had done the drinking from the toilet routine (as the DOG) at Uncensored 2000, I might cut it some slack. But he didn't so fuck Uncensored.
