Raven Effect?

Recommended Posts

Guest Mr. Slim Citrus
Is there any reason in particular why Raven changed and/or had to change the name of the "Evenflow?"

I doubt it. Hell, I'm still surprised they let him still be Raven rather than changing it to "sparrow" and giving him a finisher called "Early Bird Gets the worm" or something.

Maybe it has something to do with Pearl Jam and the copyright, but that wouldn't make sense considering the WCW used it. Who knows.

My understanding (which is probably wrong :))

is that "Raven" is the property of Scott Levy and Evenflow was copyrighted by WCW after Raven moved there from ECW, so WWF could use the name Raven as it was owned by the individual, but not evenflow as it was owned by the company (WCW). Of course, now WCW is dead, WWF/E can use what name they want.

Why would Pearl Jam have a copyright on the word "evenflow?" If anyone should be entitled to copyright it, shouldn't it be these guys?

There's no copyright on the word evenflow. WWE probably just figured that nobody cares about Pearl Jam anymore, and that 'The Raven effect' is a cute WWE-style finisher name. Lame, but what can I tell you.

it just another case of the wwf taking a perfectly fine move and changing the name of it to something lame to match the character using it.
