the stasiak match is gettin no love is it? good because it sucked. i remember watching it and when kurt got on the mic to scream at the fans i remember saying "that guy can draw heat." also when angle won the match with the angleslam I was like "what the fuck" he just won that match with a fireman's carry. look who he's beaten with it now.

Why does everyone like the SummerSlam match with Austin so much? To me it just seemed like a bunch of punching, some post shots to draw blood, and a few suplexes before Austin just starts killing the refs. I felt they had a better match on that one RAW when Triple H came back from the dead to screw Austin.

FAVE: Angle vs. Rock @ No Way Out 2001. The moment where Rock is layin' the smackdown in the corner, to which Angle responds to by kicking Rocky in his already weakened ankle, which in turn causes Rock to collapse to the mat is just glorious. Yeah, Angle lost the belt that night, but he looked like a million bucks doing it.

 

WORST: Angle vs. Stasiak @ Survivor Series 1999. The only Angle match, outside a couple of DUD squashes, I can recall seeing that ranks lower than **. (I didn't see this year's No Way Out, but the HHH-Angle rematch they had on Raw the next night was a solid *** affair.)

the austin match was such a wild, old school like brawl and i think that is why a lot of people like it. i loved the background in the match with austin as the paranoid champion and kurt angle as the never say die american hero. i'd give it *****

that kind of rings a bell for me. i do remember the beatdown and i know foley bladed during it but i couldn't remember it was angle/mcmahon that started it off.

I remember there being a dull Kurt-Shane match during Angle's second title reign, but I don't recall Kurt-Vince.

 

Now that I think about it, what in the past would cause Kurt and Vince to ever face off? Vince was a face during Angle's face run.

If I remember correctly (and I hope I do, since this is on an unlabeled tape in the "box from hell", a collection of unlabeled tapes) Vince had just come back, and he and Kurt weren't seeing eye to eye on some things. I think Kurt questioned Vince's testicular fortitude, and Vince challenged him for the belt. They built it up all show, and Foley had come out for commentary. Vince went over to start with Foley (or Angle did...either way)...and it wound up with a 2 on 1, then Steph, E&C hit the ring, and that's when Vince fired Foley, just before Christmas 2000.
