Guest Blue Bacchus Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 Where's the Figure Four or the Crossface?
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 Where's the Kudo Driver?
Guest Undisputed Champion Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 Where's the finger poke of doom?
Guest Tony149 Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 I'll have to say the Tombstone piledriver. Second would be a tie with the Pedigree & Stunner.
Guest Austin3164life Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 The Sharpshooter and The Stunner are the best finishers by two of the greatest wrestlers. The sharpshooter perfectly fits Bret's persona and move list, as does the Stunner with Austin.....
Guest Some Guy Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 I went with the Stunner. To me its the best on the list, because Austin can hit it more quickly than the Pedigree and the Tombstone. But those moves are more painful looking than the Stunner.
Guest Justin T Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 seeing that the stunner is winning... I'd love to know what you think makes a finisher bad or good. I picked Sweet Chin Music, by the way.
Guest Some Guy Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 "seeing that the stunner is winning... I'd love to know what you think makes a finisher bad or good." For me it's the quickness with which the move can be executed, how painful the move looks, and whether it can be done to anyone, From the Big Slow to Spike.
Guest Flair5000 Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 crossface. Worst finisher goes to that Kane chokeslam on Big Show the other week, that was hilarious.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 Its got to be the Power Plex.
Guest TheNewF'nShow Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 The Tombstone Piledriver for sure. It's so gay they can't use it anymore, except on smackdown that F'n ruled
Guest Makaveli Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 You know what pisses me off, how come they dont use submission finishes anymore? Like for title matches, they always used to use submissions, from the sharpshooter, to the figure four, crossface chickenwing. Now all they ever do is crappy finishes by DQ or interference or ref bumps, which takes away from the excitement. Now when theres a submission slapped on someone, you know its not gonna end that way, so why even bother?
Guest KevinKellyisFNHardcore Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 Where's the Breakdown?
Guest Ulf ist Gut Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 How about David Arquet(sp?)'s patented DDP run-in?
Guest Justin T Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 I think it has to be all the things that people always quote Foley as saying. It's right on the money. I picked Michaels' superkick because its the only time its ever been a legit finish in the fans eyes (don't gimme Chris Adams') It came out of nowhere, and it always looked awesome. These days, with the way its used by Storm and Palumbo and Saturn and Rikishi and everyone else it is just trivialized and 1/2 the time it looks like crap anyways. Michaels' always managed to make his look super stiff
Guest Quik Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 If you want to name stuff that just looks cool, the Wildthing was pretty cool back when Mero could do things other than beat Rena. As for stuff out of nowhere, the diamondcutter usually comes out of nowhere more than the stunner.
Guest dreamer420 Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 The Breakdown sucks. Jericho doesn't know how to time it properly. I liked the Razor's/Outsider's Edge as a finisher as well as the Swanton Bomb. The best finisher ever was probably Jake Roberts DDT back in the 1980's, of course until everyone starting using it.
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 18, 2002 Report Posted February 18, 2002 I'm down with the crossface as a killer looking submission.
Guest El Hijo Del Lunatic Posted February 19, 2002 Report Posted February 19, 2002 I'm a HUGE mark for Regal's old Union Jack. That was the coolest-looking neckbreaker finisher ever, even cooler-looking than the Stunner and Diamond Cutter.
Guest muswp1 Posted February 19, 2002 Report Posted February 19, 2002 I like the stunner, but my favorite is Goldberg's Spear/Jackhammer.
Guest Army Eye Posted February 19, 2002 Report Posted February 19, 2002 Stunner.. Pedigree.. both great finishers. Not the best though. STEINER SCREWDRIVER
Guest The Winslow Posted February 19, 2002 Report Posted February 19, 2002 YEAH! Jake's DDT is a great example of a finisher. It has the same qualities as Michael's superkick. It is a move that some wrestlers use as a bread and butter part of their moveset, but when applied by a master, the move suddenly looks viscious. Jake made the DDT look like he was trying to kill someone. You saw it coming, because of the shortarm clothesline set up, and that just amped the anticipation. Then BAM!! he's driving his opponents head straight through the canvass in the general direction of China. Same with Michaels. Most other wrestlers look like their doing their best not to kill their opponent by craming their jawbones into their skulls. Michaels? Screw that, looked like he had an insurance policy out on his opponent and was looking to collect. Delivery, that is what makes a great finisher. Yes it's nice if the finisher can be used consistently and can be counted on to look as effective if used on the Big Show as when it is used on Spike Dudley. It also has to be believably mean looking. I mean, the Rock Bottom looks like it hurts, but doesn't look like it'd cripple me. But the Rock's delivery of that particular move makes it better (it'd be nice if he made some effort to making some of his other moves, like his sloppy ass DDT, look better) When Bret Hart slapped on the sharpshooter he made it look like he was really cinching it in. When Benoit cranks on the crossface you swear that all he really wants to hear is the snapping and tearing of tendons, ligaments, and muscles. When Vader used the PowerBomb you believed that a crippling injury was his hearts desire. Delivery, that's what elevates a finisher.
Guest frenziedme Posted February 19, 2002 Report Posted February 19, 2002 Where's the beltshot? That move has won many a title.
Guest Cataclysm911 Posted February 19, 2002 Report Posted February 19, 2002 I say the Vertebreaker. I like Diamond Dust a lot too, and the Razor's Edge/Outsider's Edge/Diamond Death Drop/Crusifix Bomb
Guest Army Eye Posted February 19, 2002 Report Posted February 19, 2002 . When Benoit cranks on the crossface you swear that all he really wants to hear is the snapping and tearing of tendons, ligaments, and muscles. hahaha.. I LOVE this line. No doubt, Benoit turns a cool move into a super cool move with his delivery of it. Somehow I didn't get the same effect when Sid used it
