Guest Blue Bacchus Report post Posted February 18, 2002 If one was new to the world of Puro and wanted to watch it, Would you guys suggest getting the FMW DVDs or just tracking down various tapes?
Guest HBK16 Report post Posted February 18, 2002 Whatever you do stay away from the FMW DVDs. Youo will get a bad start on puro. Start tracking down several diferent tapes, like we tell everybody else. Go to the "Read and don't forget" thread and there will be some good tape sites listed. Start with the Super J Cups, of course. Don't go out and buy a tape and watch it whole all together. Watch it little by little at first.
Guest CB2M Report post Posted February 18, 2002 FMW sucks IMO. Actually, it's a lot of people's opinions. I suggest looking at this forum for a thread with the same question as yours....
Guest MRFTW Report post Posted February 18, 2002 The FMW tapes aren't that bad. Best of Tanaka and Flying Assasin(best of Hayabusa) Kick ass. And if you don't mind some bad anouncing so do the Crash and Burn and Legend Dawns tapes. The King of the Deathmatch tapes good if you like that style and all the rest are just sorta hit and miss. Guest HBK16 Report post Posted February 19, 2002 I agree. recent FMW sucked. But old FMW like 1994-1997 kicked ass. I
Guest LK2000 Report post Posted February 19, 2002 Get the usual Super J Cup 94', FMW Flying Assassin is good, and also if you try getting IWGP Jr. Title History Vol. 2 (89-96). Try some early Toryumon or Michinoku Pro. The Michinoku Masked Tournament 99' is good tape to get. Guest Mark4steamboat Report post Posted February 19, 2002 FMW dvds arent that bad. My favorite is definitely the Flying Assasin(watched it 4 times since i got it sunday)Hayabusa is great against Tanaka and a superb match against Mr Gannosuke. His match with Awesome isnt that bad either. The only thing wrong with them is the commentary. Dan Levranski(sp?) is not cut out to be an announcer.
Guest Blue Bacchus Report post Posted February 20, 2002 Thanks for the Sugestions Guys. I think I'll pick up the Flying Assasin tape and look around at the other stuff.
Guest art_vandelay Report post Posted February 23, 2002 Ugh... Lovranski annoys the shit out of me every week on The Law, I shudder to imagine how putrid his commentating is. Why they chose him to do the commentating, I'll never know. If you're gonna check out the KOTDM tapes, I suggest looking for Strangle-Mania I by ICP.
Guest Mark4steamboat Report post Posted February 23, 2002 Lovranski sounds too much like a mark and watanabe does his straight up hand signal too much. mute button mayhem~!
Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted February 23, 2002 I'd also reccomend getting the WCW/Japan Supershow. The matches aren't all that great but JR and Tony give a lot of great info about the way the japanse view wrestling.
