The "What Ifs" Of Pro Wrestling....

I'm talking about events that really shaped a companies future in terms of both angles, politics and making new stars. There are a couple that swim around my head every day that I always think of.

- What if the night after Survivor Series 2001 Kurt Angle came out to a monstrous face pop instead of 70% boos. Would the WWF have kept Austin a heel? Would they have Angle as the saviour of the WWF and Austin as the lone surviving Alliance member? It was because the Angle boos that they rushed the big Austin face turn and just ignored his history with the Alliance.

- What if HHH had never gotten injured? Weird to think of it but maybe Chris Benoit wouldn't have injured his neck quite so badly. Think about it, the main reason Benoit got injured was because he had to become the #1 workhorse in the company after HHH left. He did the Raw and Smackdowns with Austin, the cage match with Angle on RAW, TLC 3 on Smackdown (in which he injured his neck) and the ME of King of The Ring. If HHH hadn't injured his neck and Benoit/Jericho went over as planned would we have even seen a Benoit/Jericho/Austin ME @ KOTR? Maybe they would've done the HHH face turn on Austin.

Those are two big ones I can think of, but I'm sure I'll get more developed. Goddamm I think of this shit too much.

What if Vince Russo had never left the WWF? Where would the WWF ratings be right now. Would WCW still be around?

What if Bret Hart agreed to drop the title in Montreal?

What if they never booked the whole "HBK received a concussion" angle?

What if Owen Hart hadn't accidentaly broken Steve Austin's neck?

What if Owen Hart hadn't been booked as the Blue Blazer at OTE 99?

What if Steve Austin won the Undisputed Title instead of Chris Jericho?

What if Triple H or Chris Benoit didn't get injured last year?

What if Kurt Angle was booked as a face the night after Survivor Series instead of Austin?

could never have happened because according to hogan, if he did do the job to Bret Hart the entire universe would be destroyed starting from the earth and moving outwards.

What if Vince Russo wasn't booking WWF on May 23, 1999? Would Owen still be alive?

What if Ric Flair had gone against Hulk Hogan's advice and jobbed the WCW World Title to Stunning Steve Austin?

What if Vince decided Marty Jannety should be pushed to the moon instead of Shawn Michaels?

What if Vince wasn't such a bastard and his talents would have stayed with him until they all retired gracefully, passed the torch and we could all marvel at their wonderful careers as well as be entertained by fresh new talents not held down?

Fucking Prick.

What if Shawn Michaels agreed to work with Owen Hart in a World Title match at Royal Rumble 98?

Most likely, Michaels never would've taken the back drop of doom that ended his wrestling career. I couldn't see Owen going over Shawn due to Austin/Michaels being their money match for WM, but perhaps Owen would've been moved up to ME level face, perhaps making it unnecessary for them to dig up the old Blue Blazer gimmick later that year, and maybe he'd still be alive today. A slight change in booking could've saved one man's career and another man's life. Think about it...

What if the WWE had decided to push The Great Sasuke as their #1 LH guy in 1997? That's a big one, seeing as it affects Japan AND the USA.
