Smackdown scores lowest rating

Recommended Posts

Guest Insane Bump Machine

-The bad news keeps coming in for WWE. Last weeks edition of Smackdown did the lowest rating in the history of the show, a 2.0 with a 5 share. The Smackdown rating was delayed due to the Holidays. While overall TV ratings were down on Thursday due to the holidays, a 2.0 is still extremely low and a number to be very concerned about.

-The RAW rating has been delayed until tomorrow due to the holidays. It will be very telling, as well the rating for Smackdown this week which will feature the heavily hyped return of the Rock.

Wow, the show wasn't THAT bad. Has it reached XFL-low ratings yet?

It was partly because of the holiday. Everyone was out for fireworks and such probably.

Yeah, the last Smackdown was pretty good actually. Hopefully they blame the holiday (which has to be the main reason for the ratings drop) and not the Team Canada push or anything else on last week's show. Smackdown last thursday was fine.

I think that the ratings will be back up to about 3.6 this week with Rocky's return.

Come on. We ALL know who's gonna get the blame...

Sorry, I had to make the Jericho comment. Anywho, I don't think Rocky's return will score TOO much higher. After all, Raw's after PPV's got super low, even the one after No Way Out. And the SD! after Rock gave that kickass promo on Raw didn't fare too well either.

There'll be a bit of a bump, but nothing that won't wear off in a month unless they get their ass in gear.

I don't think this week's SD will be much higher than last. SD has been dropping like a stone in the ratings. As far as the Rock's return, I think his days of selling out arenas just by being there are over. They've been hyping his return for weeks and tonight's show isn't sold out yet. Hell, they were making last ditch efforts to move tickets on monday night.

Not 'XFL bad' but it's about as low as Nitro ever got I believe. Might've been a Nitro or two at 1.9 but I don't recall anything lower.

Just for the sake of information, the following are the lowest ever rated WCW Nitro's...

1) September 18, 1995 1.9

2) May 6, 1996 1.9

3) April 3, 2000 1.8

4) December 11, 2000 1.8

...so yeah, they got pretty low from time to time. :o :D :o Also, quite a few Thunders, not many but a few, were also under the 2.0 mark, with one going all the way to 1.2.

Smackdown is a broadcast rating not a cable rating, so a 2.0 for Smackdown is higher than a 2.0 for RAW would be.

History shows us that the WWE as well as every show on television suffers major losses in viewership because of Hollidays, especially "outside" Hollidays such as the 4th of July.

If the rating is the same next week...

they're fucked

Most were out for the 4th of July, including myself.

But that was still just f'n scary seeing a rating that low again.

I don't get UPN, but from what I gather, UPN doesn't have that many shows that can even get a 1.0 rating, so I don't think Smackdown is in any jeopardy..just yet..

An honor I also share. :D The damn guy passing out flags woke me up before the show started. Good thing or I might have missed Hogan win the tag belts.

In some ways I think the cancellation of SmackDown! would be for the best so that all attention could be given to RAW. RAW could showcase the big names, Velocity could continue with mainly cruisers, and Heat will continue with jobbers and low midcarders. In theory it could work, but with the roster as bloated as it is, I don't think it'd be possible. Plus it would lead to a long 4 Hour TV taping every week.

Did anyone expect everyone to stay in the house and watch Smackdonw on the 4th of July?

I said the week before when the week befores SD ratings were announced that the next weeks would be the lowest ever. I feel prophetic or something. Give me a cookie..
