Guest TheDames7 Report post Posted July 10, 2002 If you were a MLB batter, which pitchers would you be afraid to face? Same goes if you're a pitcher, what batter would you be afraid to face? If I were a batter, I'd shit myself if I saw Mariano Rivera or Curt Schilling on the mound. If I were a pitcher, Bonds would intimidate me, so would A-Rod & Giambi. Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted July 10, 2002 Randy Johnson currently, but for all time it would be Dave Stewart in his prime. He was just scary. As a pitcher, Bonds or Sosa.
Guest The Man in Blak Report post Posted July 10, 2002 If I'm a batter, I'd really, really hate to face Bob Gibson or Sandy Koufax. Active players being considered, Randy Johnson would definitely make me think twice about walking to the plate. If I'm a pitcher, Ted Williams (R.I.P.) is at the top of my list. Out of active players, I'd have to say Frank Thomas (in his jaw-dropping prime, not now) or Sammy Sosa. No fear for Bonds - I'd just plunk him in the head and move on. Guest Jerome Drake Report post Posted July 10, 2002 Batter: Randy and Pedro Pitcher: Barry, Sammy, and Alex
Guest Kingpk Report post Posted July 10, 2002 As a batter, I'd hate to face Pedro, Shilling, Johnson, and Rivera (especially in the playoffs). As a pitcher, probably everyone since the balls are so juiced that they come with drinking straws attached ::cue laugh track::.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted July 10, 2002 Pitcher-Johnson, Schilling,Martinez, Rivera Batters-Bonds, A-Rod, Giamibi, Guerrero, and Ichiro
Guest DrTom Report post Posted July 10, 2002 No one, either way. If you're afraid, you've already lost the battle, and that's a battle I'd want to win or lose on my own merits.
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted July 10, 2002 If I were an MLB player I would only be afraid of guys who are wild, throw hard, and hit a lot of guys. Schilling has only 13 walks, Pedro usually only hits guys accidentally with his curve, Rivera has great control. I suppose Johnson who can get wild, and some yound rookie kid who throws 95+ woudl be a little scary. As for batters in big time situations, you don't want Jeter, Nomar, Ichiro, and Giambi up there. They are very hard to beat witha fast ball and are great clutch hitters. Bonds, Bagwell, and Sosa wouldn't really scare me becasue they have never succeeded in the post season when it really counts. The post season is were you find out who is rally clutch. If were talking WS, I wouldn't want to face 7 out of 9 of last years Yankees.
Guest alkeiper Report post Posted July 10, 2002 All I know is the first time up there, some pitcher would throw a wicked curve, I'd bail out, and watch it sail harmlessly over the plate.
Guest Spicy McHaggis Report post Posted July 11, 2002 Fellow Trojan, Randy Johnson... that dude is one scary sumbitch.
Guest MentallyNormal Report post Posted July 11, 2002 Randy Johnson and Nolan Ryan. Cause Nolan Ryan would kick my ass if i tried to go after him. If I was a pitcher I would Fear Rafeal Bellaird. Cause that man had Power! Even though he had 2 homers in his carrer. It's just a scary thought even he hit homers.
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted July 11, 2002 I would want nothing to do with Randy Johnson as a batter. When someone throws over 100 at 6'10 who could easily kick the living shit out of a lot of people...no thanks. As a pitcher, probably any batter. You'll never know when someone hits a line drive right back at you.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted July 11, 2002 randy johnson. after seeing what he did to a bird i wouldn't want to stand in front of him.
Guest Zero_Cool Report post Posted July 12, 2002 Left: Randy Johnson Right: Nolan Ryan (also, remember when he busted open Robin Ventura?) If I was a pitcher, I too would fear Frank Thomas in his prime. We're talking 91-97 quality...the guy could shatter his bat and still take one out to right field. Great point, since the questions implies you're a pitcher or a batter in the major leagues, I change my answer to no one.
Guest DrEvil Report post Posted July 13, 2002 Randy Johnson and Nolan Ryan. Cause Nolan Ryan would kick my ass if i tried to go after him. I remember a year or so before he retired, some guy got hit by Ryan so he charged him. Ryan put him in a headlock and just started pounding on his head. Pretty dumb move because it was his pitching hand, but it was funny as hell to see a 40 year old man beating the hell out of a 20 year old in his prime. Other than some young unknown who throws 95+, as a lefty batter, I'd only be afraid to face Johnson.
