Guest Nevermortal Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 Shall it sucketh, or shall it layeth the smacketh down? YOU DECIDE.
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 The First Reply, I RULE YOU!!!!!!!
Guest Austin3164life Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 It's pretty damn early to be deciding that already, unless you've read the spoilers. From what I've skimmed through, it looks to be a pretty average show. Don't worry, I'm not going to reveal anything for those in anticipation of tonight's broadcast. I'm just not so high on The Rock's return to wrestling like some people are, because he is only semi-active and he still gets pushed to the moon. I hope there's more exposure tonight for guys like Cena and Batista. And, of course, I hope Kurt Angle and Jericho get their spotlight as well (I think they're in the Main Event). That is all.....
Guest chirs3 Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 Rock will spike the ratings a bit, but not enough. I've read the spoilers out of habit - I really need to stop. Anywho, seems pretty average.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 If you like tag matches, you'll *love* tonight's show. I'm hoping the cruiser tag match gets some decent time.
Guest Nevermortal Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 Yeah I already read the spoilers too, but I just wanted to start the thread.
Guest Brian Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 Rock pretty much has to spike the ratings. They can't continue at Fourth of July level.
Guest nikowwf Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 They should push Rock to push someone else. This month its ok if he gets a big push. Next month he should be putting someone over big time. Foley/HHH level put over. Niko
Guest Mattdotcom Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 I think the Rock does put people over, and he will be putting Brock over. This is a special, Matthew Hardaway birthday edition of SmackDown...why, no. That doesn't matter.
Guest M Nyland Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 Smackdown will be on my birthday this year as well...a reverse of this date ... 11/7... I am not going to be home in time to watch it but I will be chatting up with people on Yahoo afterwards... The Rock will end up being the one to put Brock over, it's only a matter of time. Brock makes a great MONSTER heel and will only be a face if he gets rid of Paul and then Paul goes and gets ANOTHER Monster Heel and has them feud...of whom I can not think of any... Is the Hulk giving a small push to Edge in this tag team run? I think that if someone teamed with Hogan it was good for them (unless they are Ed Leslie or some stupid celebrity)...Edge now has more tag team golds than Christian...FOR NOW! Hopefully the show will give us all alot to talk about and hopefully some of it will be GOOD.
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 Yeah, lets watch the beggining of the Depush of "Team Canada" Tonight.
Guest The Superstar Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 Maybe RVD will be on a commercial shilling FREE 7.11 oz. SLURPEES! Hurry! Hurry! Today Only! Because it's *point*SEVEN*point*E*point*-LEVEN!
Guest evenflowDDT Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 Damn, I forgot to start the thread last night... haha... anyway, here's the official match preview and my thoughts on it (I never read the spoilers, so those who have may laugh at me if I'm totally off the ball on something): THE RETURN OF THE ROCK! - OK, sooner or later people are going to stop getting behind him every time he leaves to go film a movie. I mean they didn't even make a storyline excuse for him this time. As someone who was at his "return" RAW a few weeks back, I still believe that speech was from the heart and a "magical moment" if there ever was one, but to see him just appear to interfere in the main event at King of the Ring and leave again for a few more weeks reminded me of why I'm not too big of a Rock fan. Choose boy, movies or wrestling? Hint, one has a higher paycheck for less work... Hollywood Hulk Hogan © & Edge © vs. Billy & Chuck (Tag Team Championship) - Nice to see Smackdown! making use of the tag belts again. I thought the whole point of the cheap heat of "Real American" and Edge "The Barber" winning the tag titles on the 4th of July was to hotshot it onto Team Canada, unless they interfere in this match-up. As for what some of the others have to say about this... Is the Hulk giving a small push to Edge in this tag team run? I think that if someone teamed with Hogan it was good for them The only way teaming with Hogan would be any good for anyone is if the fans got smart and realized that Edge was doing all the work and Hogan was getting all the cheers. I hope they don't insult me by using the double leg drop finisher again. Undertaker & John Cena vs. Kurt Angle & Chris Jericho - Hmmmm.... Undertaker AND Angle in the same match? Why of course The Rock will interfere! Since this looks to be one of those "mix two feuds with one tag match" type of filler main events, does this mean Cena and Jericho will be feuding, or is this just based on their match last week? Should be an interesting match though, either way, which is more than you can say for mose of the "mix two feuds with one tag match" matches. Mark Henry & Randy Orton vs. Reverend D-Von & Deacon Batista - Whoa, Team Velocity Jobbers... but wait! Batista has caught Orton in his spinebuster for the past two weeks, thus by the laws of wrestling, Orton will pin him this week for the upset victory. I've got an idea though... since Hollywood Hulk Has-been and Edge are obviously going over anyway, why not have them go over ANOTHER team (e.g. Team Velocity Jobbers), to show that there is actually a tag DIVISION instead of hot-shotting the belt back and forth to and from B&C? Oh, silly me, that would make sense... actually what would be really cool is if they hooked up D-Von & Batista with another new guy or "convert" then they could have a bad-ass corrupt religious stable called "The Holy Trinity... for the three true servants of God shall channel His divine powers into the three count on all sinners!" Hey, might as well go all the way, right?
Guest Soup Bone Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 considering we just saw the rock two or three weeks ago, i don't understand how anybody could get excited about the rock coming back...it's a major comeback if he's gone for three weeks?
Guest GenerationNever Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 Eh, Rock talks a good game but doesn't back it up in the ring. I just can't get excited in his matches.
Guest Prince Paul Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 Rock can back it up, but jeez, everyone knows he's a star. Nobody expects him to be back for 3 months even.
Guest El Psycho Diablo Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 Damn that Jericho. Holding Hogan down to curtain jerking. You people talk about HHH being a political bastard.
Guest The Superstar Posted July 11, 2002 Report Posted July 11, 2002 Damn that Jericho. Holding Hogan down to curtain jerking. You people talk about HHH being a political bastard. LOL!
Guest The Superstar Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 Hey, they still have Benoit in the Smackdown opening credits.
Guest GenerationNever Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 Rock can back it up once he stops doing the Sharpshooter wrong, the spit-hand crap, and winning with an elbow drop. Other than that he's good.
Guest goodolemr Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 I guess this is the best spot for Hogan. Tag division is weak anyway. And in a tag match, Hogan's weaknesses can be hidden.
Guest Goodear Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 Undertaker is being cagey old guy again. Good for him.
Guest The Superstar Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 That match was good for what it was. Great crowd heat.
Guest GenerationNever Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 I'm loving this "shades of grey" thing. It seems more...real.
Guest Goodear Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 You know what I like about Hogie? That when he does those aweful ass punches, people still go "HOH!" like back in the old days. Undertaker is being cagey old guy again. Good for him.
Guest The Superstar Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 MOLLY~! ahem...nice nipples Torrie
Guest GenerationNever Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 It should be illegal for Chris Jericho to chew gum.
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 Fit Finley is one bad mofo
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 Ok... Torrie's nipples = good Torrie wrestling = bad
