Guest TheHulkster Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 The first one I ordered (well, my mom, but anyway..) was Wrestlemania 3. My mom was a big wrestling fan, so it worked out pretty well over the years. My first WCW PPV was GAB 92. My sister was a big Sting mark, and after the event was over, she had a look on her face like she had seen a mass ritual suicide.
Guest midnight_burn Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 First i can remember seeing was Wrestlemania 3, the first i ordered was Royal Rumble '92. The first WCW PPV i ordered was Bash at the Beach '98, headlined by Hogan/Rodman v DDP/Malone. At least it had a good Juvi v Kidman match.
Guest cabbageboy Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 Though I had seen countless PPVs on video, and saw WM 14 and OTE 98 at my friend's house, the very first one I ordered was Summerslam 98. Before that my parents really didn't want to "waste money" buying a wrestling PPV. In 1992 I had a choice for my birthday: I could stay here and watch Summerslam 92, or I could go to Myrtle Beach for an end of summer vacation. I went to the beach. I wish I had gotten that PPV though, since it has my favorite match of all time on it (Bulldog/Bret). I remember being the first to rent that tape at Blockbuster in Sept. 1992. I even got the WWF frisbee for being the first renter! Even though I was sorta sick from the popcorn chicken I ate from KFC that night, it still ranks up there as one of the best nights ever. I've never quite felt that way about wrestling again.
Guest ShamRock Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 The first PPV I've ordered was Wrestlemania X-8.There weren't many good matches, but I was satisfied.
Guest BigTim2002 Posted July 12, 2002 Report Posted July 12, 2002 I have you all beat. SummerSlam 92, in Wembley. Somebody please tell me that for a first PPV, that ruled. Only PPV I can think that could be that would be GAB 89 or WM 10. ONLY ones.
Guest Drury37 Posted July 13, 2002 Report Posted July 13, 2002 The first WWF PPV I ever ordered was WWF WrestleMania VIII and it is still one of my favorite wrestling PPVs of all time.MY first WCW PPV that I ever ordered was WCW Great American Bash 1992,I remember I was sick and therefore I ordered WCW Great American Bash 1992 and I was a huge Sting fan and I was pretty upset when Vader defeated Sting for the WCW Title, but I thought it was a pretty good PPV. Thanks.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted July 13, 2002 Report Posted July 13, 2002 Bash at the Beach 95... it sucked then and it still sucks even worse now. I didn't order another one for a while after that, either, for obvious reasons. I still get bad dreams thinking of the card... Hogan vs. Vader in cage Flair vs. Savage in a lumberjack match Kamala vs. Duggan Renegade vs. Orndorff Sting vs. Meng And even more shitty matches that I don't care to remember......
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted July 13, 2002 Report Posted July 13, 2002 The first PPV that I saw live was Wrestlemania 4. The first one that I ever ordered myself was Royal Rumble 2000. That was during the webcast days.
Guest WWF4Life Posted July 13, 2002 Report Posted July 13, 2002 Am I the only one here that was at WrestleMania 3 in person? That was the first ever PPV I saw, ever. The first PPV we ordered as a family was Survivor Series 87, as I was a huge Hogan mark. The first PPV I paid for was SummerSlam '97.
Guest Hitman Jebus Posted July 13, 2002 Report Posted July 13, 2002 King Of The Ring 93...and I love it
Guest undisputedjericho Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 First saw: Unforgiven '98 First ordered: Survivor Series '98 (Since then, I've ordered: Fully Loaded '99, Survivor Series '99, Armageddon '99, Backlash '00, King of the Ring '00, SummerSlam '00, Survivor Series '00, Royal Rumble '01, WrestleMania X-7, went to King of the Ring '01, SummerSlam '01, and Survivor Series '01. Seen all the rest at friend's houses) Oldest seen: WrestleMania I
Guest thefrenchargel Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 first show I ever ordered was 91 summerslam, Saved up all my allowance and change, and talked my folks (who -HATE- wrestling with an undying passion) to let me order it. I still love Bret/Perfect, which was the reason I got the thing. The Hitman was my hero, and Mr Perfect was one of two heels I liked as a kid, the other was DiBiase.
Guest Idiot Hive Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 first ppv I ever ordered was WCW Uncensored I think 96, Hey leave me alone I marked out for the Alliance to End Hulkamania in that tripple whatever cage of doom. I do remember an extremely good Fit Finlay/Regal match on the same card. First WWF PPV was Over The Edge 98, I was blown away by SCSA/Foley.mmmmmmmm early wrestlingfandom.
Guest CanadianChris Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 First PPV was 1992 Survivor Series. Bret-Shawn was great, the rest was forgettable. But, I didn't order it (it was a university rez party). First PPV I ordered personally was WrestleMania 2000. The PPV was OK, but the WrestleMania All Day Long special made it worth the price before the PPV proper ever even started.
Guest Si82 Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Living here in the UK we got all of our WWF PPV's free until 1997 when they started the UK Only PPV's. But we still got the main 12 for free until this year when they have started to charge us for 4 main PPV's a year (Royal Rumble, Backlash, Vengenace & Armegddon) but the rest are still free. Anyway, the first PPV I ordered was Capital Carnage in December 1998. And it sucked! And it still sucks today. But it had a good Rock/X-Pac match that was tainted by interferance from Triple H. Actually, I might watch it again and see how I feel after that...
Guest franchise632 Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 First PPV that i saw was Wrestlemania VI from Toronto with Hogan/ Warrior and its a show I have always enjoyed. First PPV I actually ordered was Badd Blood IYH 97. Not a bad choice I would have to say, I had just moved to my dad's and he had a satelite.
Guest converge241 Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 my first was WM3..my first NWA was the Bunkhouse stampede.. I got tapes from an uncle of WM2 and Wrestling Classic after they aired but WM3 was the first one i ordered as a wee lil 10 year old..it still holds up for the atmosphere and savage - steamboat
Guest dreamer420 Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 wow, some of you guys are lucky to have experienced such awesome like pay per views. i still get excited when watching live pay per view these days but back then it would have been off the hook.
Guest tpww7 Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 First WWF - Summerslam 91, Hart- Perfect = great First WCW - Havoc 91
Guest Crippler15 Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 Wrestlemania 7 I was 5 and thought it was great. I still like the card a good deal today.
Guest The Hollywood Fashion Plate Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 The first WCW PPV I ever ordered was Souled Out '98 with Bret-Flair and Giant getting dropped on his head by Nash. Of course, the tape I used to try and record it wasn't rewound all the way so I only have the first 90 min on tape, but oh well. My first WWF PPV was KOTR '99. I liked it at the time, and I'm still pissed at myself for not taping it.
Guest Razor Roman Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 first show I ever ordered was 91 summerslam, Saved up all my allowance and change, and talked my folks (who -HATE- wrestling with an undying passion) to let me order it. I still love Bret/Perfect, which was the reason I got the thing. The Hitman was my hero, and Mr Perfect was one of two heels I liked as a kid, the other was DiBiase. My first PPV was also SummerSlam 91. It was at MSG, so my dad promised we could get tickets, but it was sold out, so we ordered the PPV. On a side note, he was VP of a small cable company at the time, so we got a bunch of SummerSlam programs and posters. In fact we got programs all the way up through Wrestlemania 8... I used to have a cool SummerSlam 92 poster (it was like the InVasion poster but with Savage and Warrior's faces on it - Uber Cool if you were in 7th grade at the time!) and a cassette tape with all the different radio spots for WrestleMania 8 on it. Plus a christmas card the WWF sent my day (whos name is roman like me) It has the WWF old-school logo made out of candles on the front and it was hand written "To Roman, from Hulk" though even then I didn't think it was really Hogan. Oh, and I knew about that Tuesday In Texas PPV LONG before it happened.
Guest JMTapes Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 My first was Summerslam '95, for the simple reason that my cable company never offered PPV before then. The show sucked, but I was so excited just to be able to see a PPV. Oh, speaking of non-fans marking out (Steamboat/Savage), my Dad, who is by no means a fan, semi-marked during the Austin/Bret match at XIII. -JM www.jmtapes.com
Guest wwF1587 Posted July 21, 2002 Report Posted July 21, 2002 I do believe that the first ppv that I ordered was WM X.... nuff said.
Guest Gamengiri2002 Posted July 22, 2002 Report Posted July 22, 2002 The first PPV ever seen was Wrestlemania VII and I was all of five (this happened to be my first wrestling show period) I saw it at a friends house and was hooked from then on. Subsequently I would see Mania VIII, Summerslam 92, and Survivor Series 92 before my friends family stopped ordering the shows. Then I allowed myself to age a few years (namely six) and ordered Halloween Havoc 1998 (I was a DDP mark and, though I am no longer partial to DDP, I still think he should have gone over.) My first WWF PPV was Wrestlemania XV. And it sucked but it did start off my streak which carried through to Judgment Day 2002. Now I have a personal boycott against WWE PPV's and am lending my monetary support to NWA-TNA
Guest goodhelmet Posted July 22, 2002 Report Posted July 22, 2002 wrestlemania 2 was the first show i ever ordered (closed dircuit tv). i know a lot of people shit on this show but it's still quite entertaining. the bulldogs match is still underrated and the rest of the show was just fun! plus, i was and am a huge ozzy mark so his presence made me feel special.
Guest SteveyP93 Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 My brother (Smarkzone) got me into wrestling, and the first one we ordered was IYH: Revenge of the Taker, with Foley v. Taker in the main, and Austin v. Hart in the semi-main. Looking back, the show is pretty good, but I absolutely ate everything up as a mark. It also marked the debut of Rockabilly, the seminal event in pro wrestling in the 20th century!
Guest swan Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 I saw Wrestlemania 3 on closed circuit TV, does that count?
