Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted July 16, 2002 Ted Williams never won a ring. He appeared in one World Series and the Red Sox lost. Barry Sanders - no ring.

Guest Spicy McHaggis Report post Posted July 16, 2002 Those players are good, not great. I'll give you Marino, Stockton, Malone, Ewing, Pedro, Bonds, and Teddy Ballgame. That's 7.
Guest alkeiper Report post Posted July 16, 2002 By those tight standards of greatness I can't see Kobe Bryant being a great player either.
Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 16, 2002 Wait you wouldn't all Barkley one of the greatest powerforward EVER great...really. Reggie Miller?? WHUT IN THE FLUCK!!! Then there are guys that were great and didn't get the press alor of guys got like Mark Price, Alonzo Morning, Tim Hardaway, Gary Payton, I am doubting Mutombo will ever get one, Dominec Wilkins, Tom Chambers, Jeff Horneck, Larry Nance, Chris Mullin, Kevin Johnson, Buck Williams, ...dear god, we can go on for days with guys in the NBA alone that were great and not have rings. Guest Jerome Drake Report post Posted July 16, 2002 Wait you wouldn't all Barkley one of the greatest powerforward EVER great...really. Reggie Miller?? WHUT IN THE FLUCK!!! Not to sound like an ass, but I seriously dont understand that. I think Barkley is great, I mean he carried Phoinex to the NBA finals with no help. And Reggie Miller is my fucking role model Those players are good, not great. I'll give you Marino, Stockton, Malone, Ewing, Pedro, Bonds, and Teddy Ballgame. That's 7. My guess is you dont watch Hockey. Because Lindros, and Bure are 2 best in the game. And Curtis Joseph is problay the 2nd best goalie in the leauge(With #1 going to Martin Brouder). And Matt Sundin IS a great player. And Cam Neely, he scored 50 goals in like 40 somthing games! Thats Wayne Gretzky quality. And Cris Carter, and Art Monk are two of the best wide recivers in football history. And Randall Cunningham was a GREAT Quaterback. And Jerome Bettis is problay the best Runningback right now(Aside from Faulk). AND HOW THE FUCK CANT YOU SAY GARY PAYTON IS GREAT? Problay the best G in the game. Even better than Jason Kidd. Chris Webber not great? Same With Latrell Sprewell? Jerry Stackhouse?
Guest Jerome Drake Report post Posted July 16, 2002 Tony Gwynn, is problay one of the best hitters since Ted Williams. And Jeff Bagwell, is great. And Barry Sanders is problay the best runningback Since Walter Payton, and should have been the one to broke his record! But retired too early .
Guest Spicy McHaggis Report post Posted July 16, 2002 I'll give you Gwynn, Sanders, and your hockey players too. That's 13.

Guest Jerome Drake Report post Posted July 16, 2002 Reggie and Carter haven't ever reached a championship opportunity. Reggie made it to the finals in 1999-2000. And Carter made it to the NFC finals. WHAT ABOUT ART MONK AND GARY PAYTON?
Guest Spicy McHaggis Report post Posted July 16, 2002 Reggie made it to the finals in 1999-2000. God, I'm an idiot GPayton, to me, is on the cusp, not there yet.

Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 16, 2002 "AND HOW THE FUCK CANT YOU SAY GARY PAYTON IS GREAT? Problay the best G in the game. Even better than Jason Kidd." Hey, hey now...lets not get carried away there buddy. Gary is great, but he's no Kidd. But when the second best player on your team is Vin Baker and you STILL make the playoffs you have to be considered great. And once again, Charles Barkly...one of the greatest PF ever. Chris Mullin, of the most underrated players in NBA history. Imagine Larry Bird without Mchale, Parish or DJ....thats Mullin. Same jumper, same unathletic guy that seemed to get every rebound and same great playmaker.
Guest Jerome Drake Report post Posted July 16, 2002 Hey, hey now...lets not get carried away there buddy. Gary is great, but he's no Kidd. Kidd has Kenyon Martin, Kieth Van Horn, Todd MacCallough and Kerry Kittles. Gary Payton has Vin Baker and Rashaed Lewis. But this isnt a Kidd Vs. Payton topic. Guest El Hijo Del Lunatic Report post Posted July 17, 2002 Ripper Michael Jordan...my god is anyone more overrated than this guy? I still think there are quite a few players that in their prime were better all around players than he was. But the NBA chooses to ignore players that were in the league before Stern took over. That's not necessarily true. While I agree that Michael Jordan can be overrated at times, IN HIS PRIME nobody did it better. He could shoot, he could fly, he was quick, he played defense, he hit clutch shots, he got to the fol line, wasn't a bad 3-point shooter, and a hell of a rebounder for a guard. But by the end of 1998, he was a glorified jump shooter who didn't take it to the hole, wasn't the defender he used to be, and was probably not the best player in the league. He had some good games in '98, but he had some STINKERS, too. Now, that's when most people formed their opinions on Jordan, and they went two ways: a) "Michael Jordan is my Lord, God, and Saviour; he took two years off and STILL managed to score thirty points a game, plus he led the Bulls to a Threepeat", or b) "Michael Jordan wins because he gets every call known to man; he almost never drives anymore, and still gets to the foul line more than anyone in the league. It's a shame to guys like Shaquille O'Neal and Kevin Garnett that this watered-down Michael Jordan is touted as the best player in the league." There isn't much middle ground with him anymore. When he was in his prime, though - from 1986 to 1991 - he was UNSTOPPABLE. He was, in his prime, the best 2-guard ever. Magic Johnson did some things Jordan couldn't, but Magic was a point guard. Of course, now, he's a jump shooter that can't defend much. Dude, if it were a normal guy he would not have 14 charges against him for pushing his way into his cousins house. I'm sorry but you know it wouldn't be that bad. If he gets off all charges with no reprecussions, you can attribute that to celebrity status, but a some of those charges are really reaching People get the book thrown at them all the time. It happens. It's happened before, and it'll happen again. Like I said, he hasn't really done much, so I'd assume that the sentences will run concurrently if he's convicted of more than one charge. I'd doubt you see him do six months in jail, even if he's convicted of all those charges. Jerome Drake SEZ: If so, then that means Mark Madsen is better than John Stockan He's a better dancer, that's for sure. Good Sports Players who dont have a ring. Art Monk Art Monk has two rings: 1987 and 1991. Drew Bledsoe Bledsoe got one last year. You don't think of it, because it was the Tom Brady Show in Foxboro last year. Oh, and, uh, here're some hall-of-fame or hall-of-fame caliber baseball players that don't have rings: Harmon Killebrew, Willie McCovey, Ted Williams, Ernie Banks, Ty Cobb, Napoleon LaJoie, George Sisler, Ed Walsh, Robin Yount, Carl Yastrzemski, Ferguson Jenkins, Rod Carew, Ralph Kiner, Tony Gywnn, and Barrry Bonds are 15. LUNATIC - Pimpin' ho's and clockin' a grip like my name was Dolemite.
Guest Jerome Drake Report post Posted July 17, 2002 Oh really thanks for correcting me. I feel stupid. Anyway how about Bettis? Possibly the 2nd best runningback in the leauge.
Guest alkeiper Report post Posted July 17, 2002 From the "Hate to Burst your bubble" department, Harmon Killebrew and Ed Walsh both won championships.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted July 17, 2002 If a great player wins a championship that's great. But just because a great or good player doesn't win one or make it far into the playoffs doesn't make them less of a player. All those charges are probably making the whole thing sound worse then it actually is. He will maybe go to court for 2 or 3 but that's about it. His wife will drop any charges because they always do. Unless something else surfaces he won't do any time and he shouldn't. Everyone will scream "celebrity treatment" but i doubt anyone in the same situation would do any time. Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 17, 2002 his wife isn't filing any charges nor did she ever call the cops. the reports of what happened between him and his wife are from what the guy on the phone said that he heard had happend. Reliable, no?
Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 17, 2002 I'd say that Jordan is the greastes player to play the shooting guard position that I have ever seen and probably will ever see. But I would take Magic as a greater player...and I still don't think he is the greatest.
Guest Spicy McHaggis Report post Posted July 17, 2002 But just because a great or good player doesn't win one or make it far into the playoffs doesn't make them less of a player. It makes them players that never won championships.
Guest Spicy McHaggis Report post Posted July 17, 2002 I'd say that Jordan is the greastes player to play the shooting guard position that I have ever seen and probably will ever see. A: How can you say that? Do you have a time machine? B: Have you ever heard of a guy named Kobe Bryant?
Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 17, 2002 Well, probably will ever see kinda implys that I MIGHT see a player at that position better, but I doubt it. I have seen Kobe Bryant and I would still take Paul Pierce and Tracy Mcgrady at the 2 before I take Bryant who has the luxery of not being double teamed because of that Shaq guy in the middle. He's damn good (I'm a Suns fan...trust me, I know) but come on.

Guest Jerome Drake Report post Posted July 17, 2002 T-Mac is better than Kobe, but I think Kobe is better than Paul Pierce What makes me mad about Paul Pierce is people overshadow the talents of Antonie Walker because of Pierce. Pierce isnt a mircale player. Walker did as much help as Pierce did. And about Kobe, I dont really see him as a leader type player.
Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 17, 2002 Walker is one of the more underrated PF in the league. I just think that Pierce can go 1 on 1 just as good as Kobe, only Pierce is a better shooter. Kobe never has to worry about getting doubled though if you double Kobe, some one else gets you. You double pierce, its Walter Macharty fever!!!
