A Different Type Of Discussion

Since the establishment of the Internet Wrestling Community in the last 10 years, a tribe of wrestling fans has emerged, The Smarks.

Named for being knowledgable about Pro-Wrestling to a certain point, while reataining the enjoyment they felt as little children (sometimes).

They are both critical and markish, but would they make good wrestlers if trained and in good enough physical shape?

Would Smarks make decent wrestlers if they were trained and were in good conditioning? Would Smarks greater appreciation for workrate and good matches mean an increase in the quality of wrestlers? Would this lead to an overall increase in the quality of Wrestling in North America?

Well I think that Smarks would bring a different view of wrestling into it. The view of a fan. They know what they want to see and would try to do something small in any matches they had to do that...

but if a Smark became a wrestler and made it to WW_ and then asked Vince certian questions about things he could/couldn't do or things that they company should do...he wouldn't stay there very long...

I'm only about 135 lbs (and for being 19 years old that is pretty sad) so you won't see me near a wrestling ring any time soon

RVD is somewhat of a Smark-Wrestler, as the reason he pulls off his spots is because those are things he'd like to see people do in a match.

I definitely think that the possibility is there. I mean, I doubt Smarks would produce some Benoit/Malenko/Guerrero quality workers, but maybe some Jake Roberts/Mick Foley/RVD kinds in the sense that they know enough about psychology to make even the worst matches they're in enjoyable.

These days, a LOT of the workers on the independent scene are ex-smarks who stepped up to the next level.

Pro wrestling is highly athletic, so more important than having seen a bunch of matches or knowing a lot about the business, you have to be a really good athlete to get ahead. If you're not naturally athletic, you're going to have a really hard time.

Guys have told me I could clean up as a cruiser scene if I had the training. But I don't have the effort, time, and especially the money to go do that.

If I was given a shot on Tough Enough I think I could do quite well. I'd be too focused to fall prey to the Real World style mating habits so many other contestants go though.

But, anyway, I'm just not rich enough or interested enough in doing that. I also have a bit of an ankle issue but I'm not sure if surgery could repair that or not.
