Guest M Nyland Posted July 13, 2002 Report Posted July 13, 2002 yeah....Tom Green is on there but Jackass isn't..... and I actually watched Happily Ever After... XFL shouldn't be number 3....cause I never considered it to be a SHOW...
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted July 13, 2002 Report Posted July 13, 2002 There seems to be an awful lot of one-or two-time show on this list, which I don't consider a "show." What was TV Guide's scoring guide for "bad"
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted July 13, 2002 Report Posted July 13, 2002 Yeah...why isn't That 80's Show on there, but Hogan's Heroes is?!
Guest Karnage Posted July 13, 2002 Report Posted July 13, 2002 The Tom Green Show: The Comedy Network era was golden, but I don't think TV Guide knew Tom Green existed before MTV.
Guest Still Fly Posted July 13, 2002 Report Posted July 13, 2002 Unhappily Ever After owned. I like talking bunnies!
Guest godthedog Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 somebody needs to walk into the tv guide offices with a machine gun and mow down all the 'good old boy' stuck-up assholes, & let some people under 55 make some editorial decisions. i can think of two dozen less entertaining television shows on the air RIGHT NOW than howard stern. so what if it's just his radio show televised? there's no doubt in my mind that stern is only on the list because the editors are offended by him. same thing with tom green. offensive or not, the man has an enormous talent for making people laugh by making other people uncomfortable, and those first 5 or 6 episodes on mtv were some of the funniest television i'd ever seen in my life. tom green only stopped being funny when he stopped having straight men to play off of (i.e., people in the street who didn't know who he was). and another complaint (somewhat unrelated, but it still pisses me off): any television magazine that puts 'fawlty towers' on its '50 best shows' list and leaves off 'monty python's flying circus' is fucking ASS BACKWARDS. it's like putting 'return of the jedi' on an all-time sci fi film list and leaving off 'star wars'.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 Unhappily Ever After owned. I like talking bunnies! If unhappily is on the list, why isn't Married with Children, cause it was just a blatant ripoff of MwC, although Nikki Cox owns Christina Applegate..
Guest caboose Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 21. Baywatch (NBC and syndicated, 1989-2001) What The Fuck? Simply for the slow motion running, this show should be in every hot-blooded male's Top 20!
Guest jimmy no nose Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 How was this determined? Based on what? Show quality? Ratings? It's obvious that XFL is on there only because of the ratings, because the football was bad enough to be the 3rd worst show of all time, while Jerry Springer is at number one because they find it offensive. The ratings for that are fairly good. They should come up with one way to judge all of the shows, or just not do it at all.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 "why isn't That 80's Show on there, but Hogan's Heroes is?!" Good point. Is 80's still around? Please tell me it isn't.
Guest Mattdotcom Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 It isn't. If Tom Green was successful with his movie, TV Guide would still be sucking up to him. Notice no one blasted him until his movie bombed. Same thing with alot of other stuff.
Guest MrRant Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 If it was based on ratings then the original Star Trek should be on there because its ratings weren't all too hot either. Note: I LIKE Star Trek
Guest DragonflyKid Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 I actually started enjoying the XFL after the teams built up some chemistry and they fixed some of the announcing and camera angle problems. I disagree that it was bad football, after a few games I thought it was pretty good and there were exciting games. The announcing improved with the gameplay but the backstage skits and emphasis on the cheerleaders was bad. I think it's because of the ratings and the Vince McMahon stigma that gave it such a bad name and made it a laughingstock and not the quality of the actual football which some didn't give a chance to improve. Putting it in prime time was a stupid move as was not having a preseason.
Guest CanadianChris Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 How on earth is Hogan's Heroes even on this list, let alone number four? It was a very funny show.
Guest razazteca Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Cop Rock (ABC, 1990) nobody likes musical dramas as a series, apperantly. Where are the 2 other musical experiments that happened that season on the other channels? 29. Howard Stern (E!, 1994-present) Howard Stern just has strippers, porn stars, celebrities talking about stupid topics, if this is bad then why are not the numerous other day time talk shows like Jenny Jones, Richard Bey, Sally Jessy, Maury Povich not listed? And where are the stupid japanese style game shows not on here, you the ones like Fear Factor and Dog Eat Dog?
Guest Mattdotcom Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Fear Factor is hot. It's in. TV Guide won't blast it until it's worn out.
Guest areacode212 Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 For the record, here are TV Guide's list of 50 Best shows. No NewsRadio? The Sopranos 6. 60 Minutes 7. The Late Show with David Letterman 8. The Simpsons 9. The Andy Griffith Show 10. Saturday Night Live 11. The Mary Tyler Moore Show 12. Guest MrRant Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 WTF?!?!? Married With Children is not on the list? How the hell is The Soprano's #5? I like the Soprano... but its not better than MASH or even half the shows on there. HOW THE FUCK IS THE TODAY SHOW ON THERE? ITS A FUCKING NEWS SHOW GODDAMNIT! Also... Buffy is NOT better than ST:TNG. AT ALL. I just want to go down there and shoot them all.
Guest Jerome Drake Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 WHY THE FUCK IS OZ ISNT ON THE GREATEST SHOWS ALSO? Theyre dumb. Can someone with common sense make a list?
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 "I think it's because of the ratings and the Vince McMahon stigma that gave it (XFL) such a bad name and made it a laughingstock and not the quality of the actual football which some didn't give a chance to improve. Putting it in prime time was a stupid move as was not having a preseason." The XFL shot itself in the foot plenty of times, but it seemed that the national sports media didn't give it a chance since it was owned by VKM. I love the fact that the NHL playoffs got similar dismal ratings, but ESPN anchors still shilled away. (note: I like the NHL)
Guest razazteca Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 XFL was bad because it had players with character names, bad announcers, the finals was SF vs LA. I did not know that California was on the East Coast, the game looked like it was fixed.
Guest J*ingus Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 A Top 50 Shows Of All Time list, and Mystery Science Theater 3000 is nowhere in sight. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, no further proof is required: TVGuide is staffed entirely by morons.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 I have bad taste... 29. Howard Stern (E!, 1994-present) 30. Unhappily Ever After (WB, 1995-99) 41. The Tom Green Show (MTV, 1999-2000) I have good taste.. 1. Seinfeld 8. The Simpsons 10. Saturday Night Live (older shows though) 26. The Twilight Zone 37. The X-Files 41. Buffy the Vampire Slayer Erk. TV Guide, for the most part, sucks..
Guest kingkamala Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Yeah and it doesn't help that Phil Muschnick writes the sports section in TV Guide(If you call one page a secition)
Guest Zack Malibu Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 A Top 50 Shows Of All Time list, and Mystery Science Theater 3000 is nowhere in sight. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, no further proof is required: TVGuide is staffed entirely by morons. Amen to that. MST3K is one of the funniest, most original shows ever made. And why isn't Saved By The Bell on the best shows of all time list! I demand answers!
Guest starvenger Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 So how come Baywatch make the "worst" but Baywatch Nights didn't?
Guest kingkamala Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Baywatch Nights *shudders at memories of David Hasslehoff cross dressing*
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Hasslehoff cross-dressing? Ye Gods... Honestly, I don't even bother with TV Guide anymore because they have constantly proved they are insufferable idiots.
Guest Ripper Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Ok, yeah they could've put better shows on the worst list but alot or most of those shows are horrible(includeing baywatch and Stern..I mean they are really dumb shows just with T&A [goes to post in the WWE folder] "Also... Buffy is NOT better than ST:TNG. AT ALL." No, not at all....except in the writing, directing, acting, story development, continuity, and such...Nope...not at all.
