Guest Imarkout4chrisdaniels Report post Posted July 13, 2002 Smackdown has brought up a few Rookies ffrom the developmental leagues so far. Cena, Rico, Orton, and Bautista are all on the same roster. Throw in Rob Conway, and bring O'Haire and Johnny "The Bull" over from Heat and you have a division. This lets them work with each other a lot and establish themselves, and most of these guys are familiar with each other. And by no means should these be the only guys they face, but I think it would be interesting.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 13, 2002 I can't explain why...but I've never liked the idea of a rookie divison
Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 14, 2002 I was throwing this idea around in my head the other day myself. I just was thinking about all of the new guys, and how cool it "could" be for them to have their own division to fight in, to win the title of "rookie of the year". I then came back to reality however, and realized that there is not years like this one where so many new rookies come in to compete in such a division, and that by having such a division would only hinder their growth as characters in that first year. :)

They've got to put some of those guys on Raw, which has a thinner roster than Smackdown, so no, I wouldn't be in favor of that idea. O'Haire & JTB should go to Raw along w/ a returning Kanyon & Mike Awesome.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted July 14, 2002 ugh...I wouldn't have a problem with some sort of "Rookie Championship"...in fact I'd rather have that then the hardcore or European titles.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted July 14, 2002 how about have the new guys just work the weekend shows like Heat and Velocity then if they improve or show promise other than just being a glorified bodybuilder then move them up to Raw or Smackdown. Just don't call it the Rookie Division, since people like Palumbo, O'Haire, Jintrak, Johnny Bull have been around for awhile.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 14, 2002 I Think the keep the rookies on SD! because it is taped and creative editing covers blown spots. That being said...the movement of the Tough Enough Kids to Raw (Jackie...I'm looking at you) was a terrible decision.
Guest caboose Report post Posted July 14, 2002 A rookie division would basically point out the fact that the guys your watching aren't good enough yet to mix it up with the big stars. It would be admitting they are green. It wouldn't look favourably.
Guest Shaved Bear Report post Posted July 14, 2002 not all rookies are on smackdown anyway... brock
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 14, 2002 Brock is the one exception until the moved the TE girls there and brought up Harvard. Still... Orton, Rico, Bautista, Cena, O'Haire and Conway makes a lot of rooks on one side
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 14, 2002 Actually...O'Haire and Conway are on the Raw side...but wrestle on Heat which is taped...so my point stands
Guest Imarkout4chrisdaniels Report post Posted July 14, 2002 O'Haire is actually on the Raw roster. He wrestles on Heat. And yeah, I don't know where my mind was, but Johnny the Bull and O'Haire are not rookies, just recently brought up from OVW and HWA.
