Guest Angle-plex Report post Posted July 14, 2002 It's been announced that Sakuraba will be fighting Cro-cop at Pride 22!
Guest Army Eye Report post Posted July 14, 2002 They sure aren't starting him out easy! That fight will draw HUUUUUGE in Japan though!
Guest Angle-plex Report post Posted July 14, 2002 It better draw huge, I heard Pride 22 will be in a 100,000 seat arena! I also think another reason Sak is versing Cro-cop is because Cro-cop had a draw with Silva. So if Sak beats Cro-cop, he will be "better" than Silva (Maybe this fight will be a work then). Guest J*ingus Report post Posted July 14, 2002 Maybe Inoki is throwing him against Cro-cop in an effort to get him defeated, in punishment for destroying Nagata last year?
Guest Singular Report post Posted July 15, 2002 Sak definetly has a challenge in Mirko especially since he's been out of MMA for so long. "Maybe Inoki is throwing him against Cro-cop in an effort to get him defeated, in punishment for destroying Nagata last year?" Don't forget Mirko's "Fluke" win over Fujita in K-1. Guest Angle-plex Report post Posted July 16, 2002 On the Sherdog forums it says that Royce Gracie will be fighting Yoshida at Shockwave. It has some special rules that includes no head strikes, and you may only stike when one combatent is standing.
Guest PYNAGE Report post Posted July 16, 2002 See , the only thing about Sak becoming BETTER Than Silva by beating Cro-Cop is this..... Silva absolutely DESTROYED Sak TWICE . Add to that the rules for Silva's fight with Cro-Cop were special rules, whichheavily favored Cro-Cop , and I think that Sak has had his time ,it's Silva's time now . Guest Army Eye Report post Posted July 16, 2002 I agree. But you know Pride wants to a) set up a Sakuraba vs. Silva III and B) build up Sakuraba so people think he actually has a chance Personally I think Sakuraba should give some of the rematches he refused, to people he has beaten, before he gets ANOTHER rematch with Silva. Guest Angle-plex Report post Posted July 17, 2002 One question: Did Sak get as destroyed in Pride 17 as he did in 13?
Guest Army Eye Report post Posted July 17, 2002 No, it was a closer fight for sure.
