Does anyone watch ESPN Classic?

For some reason, I was channel surfing at about 6 am this morning and came across ESPN Classic, and I was like WTF? theres wrestling! This morning there was Midsouth Wrestling from 1980. I was just wondering if anyone else watched it, and what they thought about it. Personally I think it's odd that ESPN (Granted its the Classic Channel, but still) would show wrestling, although if I remember correctly they did have wrestling on ESPN in the late 80's. The matches this morning were nothing great, but it was still quite interesting..

I try to catch it every week. It's a different kind of wrestling, but just like today, there are shades of really good and shades of really bad. I saw it this morning with the Iron ShieK Vs Buddy Landell, Dibiase Vs The Great Kabuki, and Bob Orton Jr Vs Jesse Barr. The best match was by far Orton Vs Barr. Who knew that tub of shit Jimmy Jack funk could go in 1980?

Its just so damn hard to wake up at 6 every saturaday! I remember i caught an Andre The Giant themed episode, it was very good. That show needs a host, like maybe an old time guest or something, and hey maybe they could show episodes back to back, i dunno, thats what i would love to see.

I haven't watched it for a year now. Last time I watched it was some stuff from Texas with the Von Erichs. Usually when I check the guide it usually says stuff like Gorgeous George or Lou Thesz. In most cases it is just too damn early.

I've only seen the really old stuff where the faces had the Bob Backlund like gimmicks. I saw Mil Mascarus on there before too. When you watch that stuff, you have to realize the time period and what they were trying to present. They were trying to pass it off as real and in some cases, were trying to make it somewhat like amateur wrestling because brawlers were frowned upon.

ESPN Classic has been showing "The Golden Age of Wrestling" since the inception of the network, infact it was on before it was ESPNClassic, it was the Classic Sports Channel, just recently they have been showing more recent stuff like Mid-South. And you think its bad trying to get up at 6am to watch it, i lived on the west coast and there is not west coast ESPN feed so it on at 3am out there.

Back before ESPN bought the channel they would have all day marathons on a Saturday with nothing but the classic wrestling shows. Some cool shit.
