Guest DARRYLXWF Posted July 14, 2002 Report Posted July 14, 2002 I just head their song 'Damned in Black' and it had one HELL of a good tune, BUT the singing in it TOTALLY fucked it up. I mean, the singer sounds like Mickey of Rocky I,II,III etc. Anyone else here who likes this band or knows any more about them?

Their music is good though, and I agree, Dimmu's better, but there are tons of black metal bands that own them, like The Project Hate MCMXCIX, Zyklon, Myrkskog, and Tristania. As for the vocals, if you don't like the growly/screech type vocals, you might wanna stay away from black metal altogether, as most recordings feature a singer like that.

But I have one gripe with Dimmu Borgir, and that is they absolutly suck at live (or maybe Cryptopsy just played f'n well). Opeth IMO is probably the best Black Metal band there is out there, then Emperor (or are they death metal)

Origin is close with their drummer that cannot be human, but it's Cryptopsy by a nose. Showoff bass riffs too, they're so fucking great it's sick.

Dimmu Borgir is highly enjoyable since picking up Galder and Barker, carnival creation indeed. Opeth isn't a black metal band, more like and emotional style of death, godly anyway. Flo Mounier is THE fukking king of extreme metal drumming, untouched.
