Guest DARRYLXWF Report post Posted July 14, 2002 I just head their song 'Damned in Black' and it had one HELL of a good tune, BUT the singing in it TOTALLY fucked it up. Their music is good though, and I agree, Dimmu's better, but there are tons of black metal bands that own them, like The Project Hate MCMXCIX, Zyklon, Myrkskog, and Tristania. As for the vocals, if you don't like the growly/screech type vocals, you might wanna stay away from black metal altogether, as most recordings feature a singer like that. But I have one gripe with Dimmu Borgir, and that is they absolutly suck at live (or maybe Cryptopsy just played f'n well). Dimmu Borgir is highly enjoyable since picking up Galder and Barker, carnival creation indeed. Opeth isn't a black metal band, more like and emotional style of death, godly anyway.
