Guest BifEverchad Report post Posted July 14, 2002 Tomorrow night the WWE returns to my hometown of St. John's, Newfoundland for the first time in over 5 years. I'm obviously anxious and excited to take in the show, regardless of it's currant state of quality. So, I was just wondering how the show will come off. Since I haven't taken in a "house show" in some time, I was wondering what's the rountine nowadays and how some things work. Like, 1) Who does the announcing for the show? (Tony Shimmell?) 2) They obviously don't have a huge television style entrance way, but what DO they use usually? 3) How's the lighting? 4) Do they use ANY pyro? Thats only a few questions that came to mind lately... so if anyone can answer or add some insight, I'd appreciate it. Oh, and here's the card for anyone who cares: WWE (SmackDown! brand) Date : July 14th 2002 Time : 7:00pm Venue : Mile One Stadium City : St. John's, Newfoundland , Canada Ticket prices are $55, $45 and $35. Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted July 14, 2002 looks like a decent card...
Guest AM The Kid Report post Posted July 14, 2002 No pyro, lighting is average. Either chimmel or fink will announce. They just walk out. EXPECT THE CARD TO CHANGE.
Guest LesnarLunatic Report post Posted July 14, 2002 Mark Henry, Hugh Morrus & Shannon Moore vs. Billy, Chuck & Rico One of these things is not like the other... one of these things does not belong...
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted July 14, 2002 Decent card. Now if only they'd come around here more often (yes, I know they were just here last month. But we haven't seen them for almost a year before that and it's usually way down south in San Jose.)
Guest AM The Kid Report post Posted July 14, 2002 Mark Henry, Hugh Morrus & Shannon Moore vs. Billy, Chuck & Rico One of these things is not like the other... one of these things does not belong... Unless Shannon Moore gained 200 pounds...

Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted July 14, 2002 It means if Albert has car trouble then they'll give John Cena someone who will actually sell.

Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted July 14, 2002 I just got tickets today to a Raw brand house show. Floor seats, front row along the ramp, that would suck if it was a real show, but since at House Shows there's no big ramp it'll be great. Tickets were on sale at 10 AM today, I got there at 940, just as they began a raffle to see who would be first to get tickets, I just barely got let into it and won, so I was the first to buy tickets. The show is on August 4, does anyone know what kind of line up to expect then?
Guest LesnarLunatic Report post Posted July 14, 2002 naw.. if Albert is late, they'll switch Rikishi vs. Test John Cena vs. Albert that to this: Rikishi and Cena v. Albert and Test
Guest The Superstar Report post Posted July 14, 2002 The cool thing about house shows is fan interaction, since they won't be on TV. I remember Billy Gunn (when he was a face teaming with Chuck) doing the "smack my bitch up" dance on the apron on time. Also, Jericho cut the BEST heel promo ever on Ft. Myers, nearly causing a riot. Guest tpww7 Report post Posted July 14, 2002 Last House show I went too, (few weeks ago in Uncasville, CT) they used alot of pyro, so maybe they will do the same tommorow.
Guest TheHulkster Report post Posted July 14, 2002 House shows > TV tapings. At least as far as workrate goes. I remember the last house show I went to. There was a 4 team elimination match: E&C Vs The Hardys Vs The Dudleys Vs Lance Storm & Kanyon. It was at least ***3/4.
Guest treble charged Report post Posted July 14, 2002 Bif, that's the EXACT same card as the show I went to on Saturday in Ottawa. Decent enough show, but if you are on the floor, it makes it that much better, as the wrestlers interact with the fans more down there, making for some fun times. Guest papacita Report post Posted July 14, 2002 I'm not sure what the deal is with pyro on House Shows. They didn't use it here in Philly up until WMXV, and after that they just started going overboard with it.
Guest treble charged Report post Posted July 14, 2002 I've never been to a house show where pyro was used.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted July 14, 2002 Me either... well, not a WWF/E one. A WCW house show I went to had some... minimal, but some.
Guest papacita Report post Posted July 14, 2002 They use a lot here. It wasn't as bad the last time I went, but when they first did it, it was wild. Finkel gets in the ring and after the National Anthem he says "HERE WE GO..." and pyro shoots out from the ring posts and the lighting truss. Then at intermission (didn't do this last time), he gets in there, shills merchandise and says "HERE WE GO" again and then they go crazy again. And guys like the Godfather, Too Cool and someone else (I forget who) all had pyro.
Guest MrRant Report post Posted July 14, 2002 Last house show I went to in Las Vegas last August they brought the pyro and Jericho had the explosion and did the pose. The main was SCSA/DDP/Kanyon vs Angle/Kane/UT. We also had Edge vs. Storm; RVD vs Jeff Hardy, Regal vs Justin Credible, a Ten-Man and a mix tag match with Matt Hardy/Lita against someone.. we also had APA vs Dudleyz. This was the night before SummerSlam and they still gave 110%.
Guest treble charged Report post Posted July 14, 2002 They had a fog machine at the show I went to tonight, but that's about it.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted July 14, 2002 They didn't even have that at mine... (the WWF one that is)
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted July 14, 2002 The cool thing about house shows is fan interaction, since they won't be on TV. You mean they actually hang around for the fans? When I saw Raw emptying out, wrestlers were already in their cars and driving away. The Limo™ was prepared and waiting (I'm guessing for either Rock or Vince), and a few wrestlers (Flair followed later by Trish) were already taking off. Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted July 14, 2002 House Shows are definitely better than TV Tapings. I go to the same shows as Treble Charged. I miss the summer shows though, when I spend all my time up at my cottage.
Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted July 14, 2002 Flair followed by Trish? Whooooooo...still has the longest line to ride...
