Guest ant_7000 Report post Posted July 14, 2002 I like R&B/Nu Soul more than R&B/pop because some Poppish R&B acts just seems to be played out me everbody is singing songs about stuff that has no substance ( Materialistic type of things) and dances alot in all of their videos. R&B/Nu Soul is going back to the old style like mixing rhythm, blues, and jazz all together. The songs are more deep with substance and relaxing vibe to it. So just wanna know what are your opinion on these Nu Soul artists: D'Angelo: Bilial: Maxwell: Musiq Soulchild: Erykah Badu: Jill Scott: The Roots: India Arie: Layurn Hill: Angie Stone: Alicia Keys: Tank: Glenn Lewis: Carl Thomas:
Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 15, 2002 D'Angelo: I liked his old stuff, but I will forever hate him for making the "Thug Singer" image that sooooo many people have copied. Bilial: I HATE BILIAL!!! I HATE THIS GUY SO MUCH!!! I HATE HATE HATE THE GUY. He obviously doesn't have a high tenor voice yet he is detemined to sing that way. I HATE BILIAL!!! Maxwell: Cool to listen to in the background with the ladies. And when it comes down to it, that is what it is all about. Musiq Soulchild:THe MAN. He has had 2 near perfect CD's that I can listen too with or with out ladies involved. Erykah Badu:Cool...just doesn't do enough. What..2 CDs in like 6 years now. Lets up the pace Erykah sweety. Jill Scott:I like her, although I must admit that I haven't listened to as much of her as I would like. The Roots:I think they would lean more to hip-hop, but OK. I love everything they put out. India Arie:I LOVE THIS GIRL (ATL REPRESENT!!!) I am Ready for Love is the best damn R&B song in years...YEARS!! Layurn Hill:Love her forever. And I will hate Wyclef forever for trying to cause her pain. No record selling, no talent having, messing up Cladete from City High's career ass, Producing Canibus's first album ass piece of shit. I love Lauryn Hill though..one of the best voices in the world. Angie Stone:She's cool, although she kinda got on my nerves when I saw her in a interview before so I don't really listen to her music much anymore. Whats up with the no love for Alisha Keys. BTW, the most overlooked album in years was by a dude named TAnk...That dude has talent.
Guest Still Fly Report post Posted July 16, 2002 D'Angelo: I loved "Untitled (How Does it Feel)" and "Devils Pie" You should be here is okay too. Bilial: so-so Maxwell: I lift weights while listening to this guy... I don't know why. He is so mellow though that he makes me focus. Musiq Soulchild: Great... I want to see more from him in the future. Erykah Badu: I never really liked her. Maybe it was the head dress Jill Scott: I love her. "Long Walk" is great for just thinking. The Roots: They're okay. I haven't hear their music enough India Arie: I don't know. She seems to ecclectic for me. I like the guitar from the "Average Girl" song. Layurn Hill: The only thing I liked from her was "That Thing (Do Wop)" the other stuff she put out really made no difference to me. Angie Stone: Strong voice. I like "I Wish I Didn't Miss You Anymore" "Brotha" was alright to a certain extent. Yeah, and whats with giving no love to Alicia Keys?
