Guest EQ Report post Posted July 14, 2002 This DVD is so well done, it blows my mind. The packaging is excellent, the features are incredible. Notice that I said "Best DVD Ever" and not "Best Movie Ever". I happened to like the movie, but I know many people who were disappointed. If you're a fan of this movie, BUY THIS DVD! Guest TheDames7 Report post Posted July 14, 2002 I bought it before you, Viva, and I still haven't watched it. Yes, I know I've had the time but I just haven't been in the mood to sit down and watch it for over 3 hours. How are the added scenes & shots in the movie, is it worth it? I've got to admit that the packaging is awesome. Dames

Guest EQ Report post Posted July 14, 2002 How are the added scenes & shots in the movie, is it worth it? I think the extra stuff is pretty cool. Basically, the movie just has a lot more gore than it did before. It really deserves the R-Rating. For example, when people get shot, their flesh gets ripped to shreds and limbs fall off. This DVD really raises the bar as far as what the DVD format should be. All this for only 30 bucks? I'm very happy. Let's hope the LOTR 4-Disc set coming out in November is this good. I'd nut all over this computer screen if I read somewhere that the Superman movies were getting this kind of treatment.
Guest EQ Report post Posted July 14, 2002 Movie sucks Extra features is a thumbs up! Why do so many people hate this movie? Sure, a big portion of it is the love triangle between the 3 main characters, but I think that part of the movie is actually pretty entertaining and well-done. The combat portions of the movie are just incredible.

The combat portions of the movie are just incredible. I think it suffered from "Titanic Syndrome": The trailers showed all the cool battle shots and the explosions that led people to believe it was an action movie. But, to get to all that, they threw in a sappy love story where, by the end (at least for me in Titanic), you couldn't wait for that prettyboy to drown. Guest godthedog Report post Posted July 14, 2002 ugh... why do they have to waste their time making movies like 'armageddon' and 'pearl harbor' into great dvd's when movies that are actually worth the extra dvd work ('fargo', 'nashville', 'chimes at midnight', any bunuel films, 'aguirre, the wrath of god', 'goodfellas'...) are either stuck with standard suck-ass dvd's or no dvd at all? Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted July 14, 2002 The DVD sounds cool, but I'm not going to buy a lousy movie just to have a nifty DVD. Btw, I loved Titanic, and hopefully that will get an SE disc in the future. That was one of Pearl Harbor's problems, it tried to replicate Titanic's success and failed miserably. For example, when people get shot, their flesh gets ripped to shreds and limbs fall off. That's one thing that really bugged me about the movie, how they pretty obviously & blatantly censored a lot of the gorier scenes. Because God forbid that the movie should admit that a human being getting chewed up by .50 machine gun rounds might look just a little messy. I'm one of the three smart marks in the world who is willing to admit that they liked Titanic, but I hated Pearl Harbor. Bad acting, bad writing, mediocre directing, and WAY too long, the entire "30 Seconds Over Tokyo" section was pointless & should've been left out.

Guest Kingpk Report post Posted July 14, 2002 I just thought Titanic went over the top in it's sapiness. DiCaprio's character was a pussy, the main bad guy really didn't exude "bad-assness", and "My Heart Will Go On" was played a million fucking times the week the movie came out. My jazz ensemble in high school even played it.
Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted July 15, 2002 That's the problem. The overwhelming success of Titanic turned people off. The overplayed Dion song, the stories of teenage girls seeing it over and over again, the millions of dollars it made. That kind of stuff makes people hate movies. If Titanic had done moderate business, instead of becoming a legend of cinema, people wouldn't be so hard on it, but success makes people spiteful. Pearl Harbor wasn't very successful in any manner, and that's because it was a weak movie, and Titanic wasn't.
Guest godthedog Report post Posted July 15, 2002 had titanic done moderate business, it would've lost boatloads of money. it needed to earn at least $400 million to just make a profit.
Guest GenerationNever Report post Posted July 15, 2002 This movie was totally inaccurate in regards to the real Pearl Harbor attack. It, therefore, sucks.
Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted July 24, 2002 Yes the film is awash in C-movie cliches with only a bloody battle making it worthwhile, ** out of **** HOWEVER This is a remarkable DVD, and with all of the historical and filmmaking info inside, I had to buy it (25.98 at Sam's Club) AmI satisfied? Yes, except for that God-Awful packaging which places the discs NOT in their own holder but in an unprotected slipcase, vunerable to fingerprints and scratches, way to go Buena Vista.
