Guest EQ Report post Posted July 14, 2002 Are you a fan of comic book crossovers? I haven't read too many, but I always find these a fun read (given I like the heroes involved). I'm dying to get the Amalgam graphic novels.
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted July 14, 2002 It depends on whether or not I care about the characters or the creators involved. Once you get over the novelty of <Marvel character> meets <DC character>, I found that some of those crossovers were pretty boring. And I'm not really enough of a fan of, say, Batman or the Punisher to bust a nut because they fight each other or whatever. They should have done that year-long character swap--THAT would have been pretty interesting, even if it had been done with second-tier characters, like She-Hulk and Guy Gardner or something. The first batch of DC vs. Marvel crossovers were good (the 2 Superman/Spider-Man crossovers, Batman/Hulk, X-Men/Teen Titans).
Guest crandamaniac Report post Posted July 14, 2002 Batman and The Hulk crossed over? When did that happen? What was the story behind it?
Guest EQ Report post Posted July 14, 2002 Bruce Banner somehow ended up working at one of Wayne's plants... doing something pretty important I guess... Joker needed to steal something from the plant, he ended up pissing Banner off, turning him into Hulk. I read this not too long ago, but I really don't remember the story behind it. The 2 Superman/Spiderman ones were really good. I enjoyed these a lot.
Guest raptor Report post Posted July 14, 2002 I reccomed the Daredevil/Punisher/Spider-Man issues of Ultimate Team Up for a "crossover" that's done right.
Guest starvenger Report post Posted July 15, 2002 >Batman and The Hulk crossed over? When did that happen? What was the story behind it? This was back in the days of the old Hulk TV series. As in the show, Banner is constantly trying to find a way to rid himself of his alter-ego. Banner ends up working at Wayne Enterprises, to use their gamma machine. Unfortunately, the Joker tries to steal it in order to cure the Shaper of Worlds. Obviously, Banner Hulks up, and we get the expected Batman-Hulk confrontation, and team-up, of sorts - after all, Hulk isn't exactly the best team player. Anyways, get "Crossover Classics" if you want all 4 original crossovers. Most if not all of the more recent crossovers pale in comparison, and fwiw this is the level that most people expect JLA/Avengers to be at.
Guest pochorenella Report post Posted July 15, 2002 I reccomed the Daredevil/Punisher/Spider-Man issues of Ultimate Team Up for a "crossover" that's done right That one was really awesome, but I think Viva was asking for DC and Marvel crossovers and stuff like that. I recommend the first Batman/Spider-Man, drawn by Mark Bagley with Carnage and The Joker as villians. And I heard X-Men/Teen Titans was good but I've never read it. I think Walt Simonson drew it. Guest EQ Report post Posted July 18, 2002 I did intend for it to be DC/Marvel crossovers, but it could be anything. Actually, I'm really a sucker for Batman/Superman crossovers.
Guest Prototype450 Report post Posted July 19, 2002 What was the Batman/Spiderman crossover about. also Was there a JLA/X-men crossover? That would rock.
Guest Vyce Report post Posted July 19, 2002 Only Batman / Spider-Man x-over I can remember is one that had Carnage team up with (I believe) Joker, and Batman & Spidey teamed up to take them down. I think there was another one, but I can't remember it.
Guest pochorenella Report post Posted July 19, 2002 What was the Batman/Spiderman crossover about. Some scientists develop a microchip for the brain so that serial killers could be "domesticated". They tried it on the Joker and it works, so the try it on Carnage and all hell breaks loose in Gotham City were both the villians are. Spidey tags along to check on Carnage and meets with Batman who doesn't want to team up with him, but later on they work together and develop the typical mutual respect afeter taking down the bad guys. I seem to vaguely remember another Batman/Spidey crossover but I'm not really sure. There's never been a JLA/X-Men crossover that I know of, the closest would have to be the Teen Titans/X-Men one that I mentioned earlier that had Darkseid resurrect the Phoenix. Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted July 25, 2002 One of my roommates has a crossover book, but I found it underwhelming. It had the Punisher teaming up with Azrael, Punisher teaming up with Batman, Superman and Silver Surfer and Captain America with Batman. I have heard of the Amalgam stuff and I kind of wnat to check it out. I think a Wolverine/Batman character seems a little corny, but there was one character that I thought could be pretty cool. I don't remember who it was because I was reading about it in an old Wizard magazine.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted July 25, 2002 Sorry about this double post. I thought the comic that I was going to read was going to provide some answers to those age-old "who would win" questions. I would love to see Hulk take on Doomsday or Batman take on Wolverine, but none of that stuff happened in the book I read. Punisher traded blows with Batman and Silver Surfer had to contend with Mxzypltk (sp?). I wish they would make some dream match books where you get to see what would happen if different characters squared off against each other. Imagine Aquaman versus Namor or Daredevil versus Batman. That's the kind of stuff I would like to see.
Guest EQ Report post Posted July 25, 2002 I have the book you're talking about. I liked the Batman/Punisher stories. I liked the Superman/Surfer story, but probably only b/c I'm a big Superman fan. The Superman/Spidey ones were better. But I'd never known that there were Batman/Spidey teamups... I wanna read those now

The person with the intelligence to suggest a She-Hulk/Guy Gardner cross over also has a thing for Angela of Arch Enemy? AreaCode 212 is my new Hero!!! Oh, by the way, everyone check out the Nile/Arch Enemy tour, coming to a small concert venue by you. I saw some of the art for the George Perez Avengers/JLA comic...amazing!
