Guest wwF1587 Report post Posted July 15, 2002 All right, I was never a big fan of the series in the past and never gave the Sims for PC a chance until the other day when someone gave it to me for free cause they were not interested. ANYWAY I must say I am too hooked now. I played for 6 hours straight (with the occasion of bathrooms and food short breaks) and didnt even realise it. I already have hot date and will get the other upgrades later. FUN game. If you have it, post your opinions.
Guest Anubis Puppet Report post Posted July 15, 2002 It'll probably get old after a week. Hate to break it to you.
Guest The Man in Blak Report post Posted July 15, 2002 I disagree. Give it three days - directing people to relieve themselves in the bathroom instead of the kitchen will quickly lose its luster.

Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 15, 2002 There's a PS2 version coming out too. Somehow I don't see myself shelling out 50 bucks for the game. However...Zoo Tycoon rules.
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted July 15, 2002 I really enjoyed it for about a month or so, then it just started collecting dust on the shelf--partly due to the fact that Diablo II came out not long afterwards. Designing houses was fun & all, but it just doesn't have that instant gratification (i.e., killing stuff) that other games have.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted July 15, 2002 its not bad of a game...but no real replay value. unless you get Sim online...which that will totaly own (hopefully)
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted July 15, 2002 I had fun with that for like an hour and haven't played it since. It just got annoying.
Guest gthureson Report post Posted July 15, 2002 I admire Wil Wright and his Maxis team for what they came up with. I occassionally still throw it in for a bit, though not as often as I did when it first came out. The guts of this game will definately make for a better game later on, though Sims wasn't exactly everything I was hoping for when it came out. Fifteen minutes to walk to the bathroom and take a leak is a bit much.
Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 15, 2002 I get pissed because there are no weekends. You work for 8 hours a day, 7 days a week. By the time you get home you have to eat bathe, have a little fun...then go to sleep and go to work the next day. I'll admit, when I first played it, I was addicted, but now it just sits there. 3-4 days tops.
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted July 16, 2002 I just saw this on GameSpot. Can you believe that there's YET ANOTHER EXPANSION PACK coming for this game? The Sims: Unleashed announced The fifth expansion for Electronic Arts' virtual-life game The Sims will feature new environments, social interactions, careers--and pets. Screenshots inside. more screens (2) View the slideshow » Screenshot Index » Electronic Arts has announced The Sims: Unleashed, the next expansion pack for its best-selling virtual-life game The Sims. Like the previous expansion packs, Unleashed will feature a variety of new environments, careers, social interactions, and other additions to the popular game, but it will also add an all-new element to the game--the ability to add pets to a virtual family. The Sims: Unleashed will include an expanded neighborhood with several new environments such as parks, pet stores, cafes, and markets. Players will be able to visit a pet store and purchase a variety of creatures to add to their sim family. Some of the creatures available include dogs, cats, birds, turtles, lizards, and fish. Some of these creatures, like the dogs and cats, also have to be housebroken. The expansion also features a number of new social interactions and activities. Players will be able to walk their dogs, train their pets or hire a pet trainer, and enter local pet shows. Pets will also be able to chase away wild animals such as rabbits, gophers, and mice. Unleashed will also feature 50 new jobs in five new career paths including fashion, cooking, and education. Sims can also become a veterinarian or join the circus. Additionally, the expansion will include more than 125 new objects for pets and sims, dozens of new characters skins, and a new decorator set with a New Orleans French Quarter theme. The Sims: Unleashed is scheduled for release in September. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of The Sims and its expansions.
Guest Prototype450 Report post Posted July 18, 2002 They should have weekends. Your sim gets a promotion then has to go to work an hour later? What type of shit is that? On the original box it said that you can become a spy or secret agent. How do you do that?
Guest Dr. Wrestlingphysics Report post Posted July 18, 2002 When I originally got the game, not having weekends was a pain in the ass because between work, sleeping and eating there was little time left for socialising (ie making friends) or gaining the "points" needed for promotion, all while trying to keep the sim happy, lead to me stopping playing for months. However with Hot Date and Vacation, and the house remaining frozen until you came back from downtown/holiday, it gives more time for things other than eating, sleeping and working and has added greatly to the longevity of the game.
